Search and you may find a pretty good sized list.
Hint: "debloat".

Did that and it brought me to this thread. Check it out.
Do you know the answer to my question?

[Q] LG Backup Software on AT&T

I was just reading a review on the AT&T version of G2 (I have the Verizon version) and there was a piece of software called LG Backup, that basically looked like an in built Titanium Backup that didn't require root.
I can not find this on my Verizon version.. is it removed? Is it named something different?
Thanks
Vzw probably removed it because they offer their own backup app with a monthly subscription.

I just looked. The only thing I find there under the Backup & Restore menu is
(all of this appears to be tied to google)
Backup My data
Backup Account
Automatic Restore
then the Factory data reset
So there does not appear to be that app on the Verizon.. damn you verizon..
Guess I will have to root it after all....

Disable over the air updates.

Has anybody found an easy way to disable over the air updates for the Verizon LG G2? I believe I remember from a previous phone there was an application we could freeze to prevent updates so it wouldn't break root. Does anyone know how to do that on this phone?

you can disable "softwware update" using titanium backup or other apps with root access, I use root uninstall
Ok. That's easy enough. I didn't realize OTA was called that. With the motto x it was some obscure name. Thank you.

I've removed Verizon login and VZNavigator.
Here is the last of apps that I've removed.

All verizon apps in the app drawer can be deleted. I deleted all of them except verizon mobile and hotspot.

Debloating VZW (rooted stock)

Now that root is achieved, many will freeze or remove stock VZW apps. Are there any resources on which apps are safe to freeze? This may have been asked elsewhere, but this is likely to be a recurring question and a thread in Q&A could be useful. Any information would be appreciated.

I found this link:
http://blog.laptopmag.com/galaxy-s5-bloatware-list
My problem is that I do not seem to have any options to uninstall. With the KK Launcher I did have an uninstall option but it would say uninstall unsuccessful.

That is interesting information, but I don't believe that article specifies what is safe to remove (just what the consider removing). Also, the ATT framework may not behave exactly as the VZW might, which is my specific question.
Edit: consider using titanium backup and freeze as an alternative to uninstalling entirely. Should give you the option to restore if needed.

Now onto game of thrones!
Just use boot browesr or something similar and go to /system/app and rename the bloat. Change myverizon.apk to myverizon.bak for example. That way it it cause issues you can just change it back.

its unclear what effect an unofficial tag might mean, but I'm just keeping my phone as close to stock as I can.

I am also trying to figure out what is SAFE to remove versus what should be removed. The sticky has a short running list.
Thanks so much! My phone suddenly either had an espresso shot or decided to become a triathlete!

Will Samsung allow customers to uninstall bloatware?

To me, that would be a killer feature!
No. You need to be rooted.

Did you get a chance to play with one of these @ BB? I didn't see a lot of bloat or really any honestly. Samsung Retail mode though, no idea what carriers will force.

Correct if you want to uninstall them, but you can "disable" bloat from the applications section in the settings to free up memory and to cut down on unnecessary processes without needing root.
I'm not sure how the US carriers will handle this issue, but all of my carrier-specific apps were uninstallable on my Korean Note 4. Samsung and Google services have been hit-or-miss. But then again, there was specific legislation passed here on this very subject last year.

What do you mean by "bloatware"? Like health app?
Is there a way to delete the AT&T apps without rooting ?

Like that stupid flip board app.
Sprint has been pretty good about being able to straight uninstall all those useless programs they load once you activate. The rest has to be root uninstalled to remove. I've been using Samsung devices for awhile and most have to be rooted to remove their extra features.
Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Can't you just disable them? They'll still take up space but they won't run.
uninstalling some of the applications, especially from google or samsung could break other things seemingly unrelated, so much better way is to freeze them, but you need root. greenify has some option to stop apps from starting on boot up, not 100% sure, but I think it works even without root.
greenify is limited without root, but it is a start.
Does anyone know when the ATT note 3 was able to root?
