I have a Rogers/Fido/Telus Nexus S. I tried a bunch of ROM's, CM7, ASOP, NSColab, Honycomb port. And then I realized that my 3G stopped working. I'm only getting Edge. My baseband version says "NO DGSXXXKB1", in the bootloader, carrier info says ATT. Any ideas?
do I need to re-flash the GRI40 radio again?
Same problem here. Initially all was working fine, then I tried to play with 2G/3G settings in Power Widget (CM7) since then, I am only able to get Edge connection.
I reset, changed firmwares, went back to my original Nandroid backup, no help.
I was also getting the Roaming Icon indicator on Fido's network, even though I purchased the Fido branded Nexus-S...
Tried changing Radio, KB1 and KB3, still no go.
I have owned Nexus One, Desire, Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy-S and Nexus-S
Never had issues except with Samsung phones!
Anyway, relocked NAND and this phone is going back.
Same. I was ASOP and the 2G was enable by default. I changed it to 3G and never saw 3G again. I thought swapping radios would do it, apparently not. Really weird. I guess I'm returning mine as well. Hopefully Future Shop will not snoop around too much.
Do you think odin would work?

The version of the phone changed to GRI40 which if I'm not mistaken is the T-mobile one. Which would explain everything. I hope one of the devs could help us out.
APN missing?
I have the same problem guys. After flashing CM7, I can only get edge connection. Whenever I turn on 3G from the toggle, a "H" sign will appear, but no internet at all! Wtf. Hope there is a solution for this. Back on stock nexus s (slcd i9023) for now

i just read somewhere else that after flashing the wcdma setting in *#*#4636#*#* got set to the wrong option. so type that and go change it back to wcdma preferred, or your preference.

Never hit the 2G/3G button. Its broken, been broken and doesnt work as of yet. Just dont hit it.
Had the same problem. For some reason it was on the wrong band (if that's possible). in the *#*#4636#*#*, phone information, menu, select radio-band, USA, and fixed!
Still getting no 3G/H on my CM7. I even tried the *#*#4636 method, still no go. However I can surf the browser to sites like google, facebook etc. But whenever I want to sync my google acc, I will get a network error. Wtf? One thing that I noticed is that, my signal bars won't "light up" (but I can surf the net). Another thing, after flashing to CM7, my build number changed to GRI40 instead of GRI54 in the settings on stock. Maybe that is the problem?

Put this into your dial pad: *#*#4636#*#*
Then hit Phone Information
Then hit the menu button and select radio band, the select corresponding Country.
USA will fix our issues.
I found a dirty workaround for this problem. Turn on airplane mode, then turn it off. Worked for me.
Same issue for me on the Nexus One. 3G icon is there when phone is idle. As soon as I try to do anything data-related (ie. browser) it switched to an H.
Tried setting to USA, no dice. APN is internet.com
crap I guess no root for my nexus S until this canadian carrier thing is resolved...
I thought i would throw in my experiance
I bought a Nexus S from Telus, and i am using it with a Sasktel Sim on Bell/Sasktel network (live in sask but have a national account from Bell) and on stock, i could never get H.....only the 3g would show up. But that was short lived because i flashed CM7 on it and the H now appears and works perfectly fine
So i dunno if its a Rogers frequency thing/problem, but the phone works great on HSPA on Bell/Sasktel
Cheers
Hi. my friends owns a Verizon Motorola Droid X. Now, he did an SBF a while ago. After that, everything in the phone works fine except for the the fact that he can't make any new calls, nor can he connect to the internet. Now, his phone used to be able to connect to all of these using the CDMA EV-DO connection in his country (Indonesia).
I suppose that it's the A-KEY's problem, but I don't have any idea how to fix it. Do you guys have any idea how to be able to connect to the internet again? He is currently using a Liberty ROM (though that info seems insignificant, I would just like to point that out just in case).
SBF again. Sometimes this happens when Roming.

Using a Maderstock?
Try re-activating... *228
Edit: Sorry, just noticed the "Indonesia" part... probably won't help lol.
No, use the full SBF file and RSD Lite

For Indonesia, we dial *999 instead. However, the call ends at once whenever we dial it. :S

Will try to do it.
SBF'ing seems like the way to go
This is weird. It seems that after the sbf, it prompted him to activate his phone, yet it shows a Verizon sign instead of the provider in Indonesia. After he opted to write the nv items, the Verizon logo dosappears.
It can now read his phone number and the evdo, yet he still can't even make an sms message nor a phone call. Not even the 1x logo is showing in the status bar.

It seems that sbf-ing brings us back to the Verizon MIN. We decided to take the last resort: ask for a new number.

1. MMS stops working by itself, after factory reset starts working again. No settings are being changed.
2. Bluetooth connection to my car Audi Handfree is very unreliable and causes network connection to stall, no data and calls go straigh to voicemail.
3. Call waiting stoped working. Everytime i get a second call my primary call mutes and I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. By switching back and forth between callers I am able to hear first caller again.
All of these issues are solved by factory reseting the phone.
Does anyone have a clue why is this happening?
Using latest KE7 software.
I am on rogers and are having no issues with my phone that you are having... Maybe you got a bad phone?
Can you check if your mms messaging work?

On Rogers in Southwestern Ontario. I don't use MMS, so I don't have much experience with that.
I have used by SGS2 with BT Audio and calls on an Alpine KCE-400BT (Parrot unit rebranded as Alpine) and a Sony Xplod unit without any unusual behaviour
Haven't used call waiting other than by accident, no experience there either.
Hi I'm on Rogers is Windsor, I don't use MMS or bluetooth, but I use call waiting very often and not once as it messed up on me.
Anyone using Rogers having problems with digital call display? Whenever someone calls me it comes up as "unknown" but my account has digital call display on it.
I have seen name display work fine on my phone.it's a fantastic feature!

Anyone using Rogers having any data stalling/dropping issues? It seems like every time I go into an area with no signal (subway or elevator for example) it just doesn't seem to connect back onto the network fully. Even though it will say 3G, the data connection is actually dead and I usually have to wait a while or cycle airplane mode to get it back.
I'm using the KE4 radio. If you guys are having no problems, could you tell me which ROM and radio (baseband) you're using? Also, if fast dormancy is enabled or disabled? You can check with dialing *#9900#. Also, which APN you're using for data? Is it the internet.com one or the rogers-core-appl1.apn?
Thanks
I just got a Bell SGS2 yesterday and rooted/unlocked it. I'm having 2 problems to date:
1) GPS cannot fix. I can be in view of 12 satellites, but it just won't fix.
2) My SMS timestamps are screwed up. Every message comes in with a stamp of 4 hours earlier.
Anyone else having these problems?
EDIT: Oddly enough, MMS works AND the timestamp is correct.

Hi guys, how did you get it to unlock to work on rogers? I have tried the free app on the market but that doesn't work out for me.
I have rooted the phone already.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Instead of getting the Galaxy S2 unlock app from the market, get the Galaxy_S app. It'll crash the phone at step 2, but it'll be unlocked after it reboots!

I haven't had this problem with my SGS2, but I've had it with previous Android and Windows phones. It is a known bug.
Apparently the problem isn't present when using Handcent SMS (which is really good anyways) or you can use this program designed specifically to fix the problem.

This is why I'm afraid of using anything but the stock Kernel. No problems here on my unlocked stock SG2.

NTT works on completely different frequencies....there is no way it'd work here. If you want a phone that'd work in Japan then you'd need to buy one here and get a Softbank SIM card while in Japan.

Hello guys! long time lurker, first time poster here.
I have a galaxy s5
recently the phone acted extremely weird when i first used it. So i flashed the phone and re-installed the android software which fixed all the weird problems i was having.
Now im still having 1 problem. with my SIM card installed i have full network (5 bars) when i try to make a phone call i get a "not registered on network" error. I remove my SIM card, the network is still present (5 bars)
I seem to have full signal at all times with or without my SIM card. The phone does not acknowledge the SIM when i put the SIM card in or when i remove it.
Did i do something wrong when i flashed my phone? i installed the same stock ROM that was on the phone with the proper carrier (videotron)
I need your help!
Thank you in advance.
i forgot to mention that the phone is rooted. If i could somehow figure out how to reset the carrier settings i think it might help.

have you tried going into settings, Mobile Networks, and then Network search? and let it sit and pick your own network? do you have another active sim you could maybe try?

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried selecting my own network manually serveral times with 2 different SIM cards.. It didn't change anything. I still have full service without a SIM card.
Maybe you flashed a wrong modem for your area, try to flash the right and newest modem for your area. If that takes no effect, contact your service provider.

So after not really being into the custom rom game for awhile i decided last night to flash the following to my Sprint Note 3.
ROM: cm-12.1-20150918-NIGHTLY-hlte
GAPPS: open_gapps-arm-5.1-stock-20150918
when I left my house this morning I called my wife and it worked fine. Since then, however, any time I attempt to place a call I get a "No Cellular Connection" error. Data seems to work fine. In phone status it says it's connected to Sprint. It has an IP address. But the SIM status is Out of Service or something similar.
Any clue on WTF the issue could be? It would be awesome if I could place phone calls again.
Thanks!

I'm still fairly new to Sprint but IIRC Sprint doesn't have APN settings....
Is the phone running the latest bootloader and modem/baseband?
Old thread, but I'm having the same problem.
I just flashed CM 14.1 to my Note 3 (to freshen things up after all this time!) and now I have no cell service. I have successfully re-flashed the modem.bin to the phone from the stock ROM, but it did not fix the problem. Phone says Emergency calls only... and I have been getting emergency weather notifications, but I cannot place or receive a call.
Some help, please?
