Hi
Can anyone clarify whether the note 3 will have that?
Thanks
Aptx I believe is there as per previous devices.

I just installed a new stereo receiver in my car. It's a JVC KD-X50BT. it works fine to skip tracks and such from the stereo , but it won't display the song name which, according to JVC, is related to the Nexus 4 not supporting bluetooth spp profile. Does anyone know anything about this?

Bluetooth SPP works fine for me, maybe it is the combination with the JVC stereo causing problems...
According to the representative I spoke to the N4 doesn't have the profile, do you know where I could find the correct specs for that?
Also, what media player do you use? I use Google music, I forgot to include that in the OP
Thanks
For what it's worth, I have the same problem on mine. I also had the same problem on my One X.

Same JVC receiver as you. I've used Google Play Music, the stock HTC music, and Pandora. The only way Pandora will display the info is if I use the special JVC-Pandora mode (but then it limits my skips to 5, eventhough I'm on Pandora One).
This sounds like it's an issue with the receiver then. Anyone have any confirmation (spec sheet, etc.) that would confirm that the N4 does indeed support spp so that I can call and rightfully rant?

Check this thread out. It's an issue with stock android and not your head unit. It only shows track info if I play music from Pandora and that's it. It's annoying. I have a Sony head unit.

Final answer (which is in line with all my experiments haha): the Nexus 4 on AOSP does not support the necessary Bluetooth profile (AVRCP 1.3). However some custom ROMs do, CyanogenMod does with the cavet that the feature has not yet been ported to CyanogenMod 10, that is it seems to have worked fine in CM 9 but isn't included in CM 10 yet. So it's just a question of waiting/kindly reminding the devs.

From this thread,
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1j6cfe/bt_40_ble_support_was_planned_for_galaxy_nexus/
it appears last year's Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Nexus did not get Bluetooth LE updates. Does anyone know about the Nexus 10?
Yes.

I'm not sure if this is the case.
I just spent some time getting the SDK to tell me whether LE is supported. The steps how to do it are outlined here:
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/connectivity/bluetooth-le.html
The code reports LE is *not* supported.
Also when going to the FAQ, it seems that only the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 2013 are supported. Go to the bottom of here:
https://support.google.com/nexus/10/answer/2819579?hl=en
So far all signs point to Nexus 10 *NOT* supporting Bluetooth LE.
In the the keynote they say about the low power feature on 4.3. Does this include the old stereo headset or just for new devices that support this feature? Enlighten me please thanks

LE is only similar to Bluetooth by name and frequency. No, it does not make old devices "LE". Wikipedia it.

Thanks for the info. So its another product? I thought it will affect Bluetooth in general. Thanks for clarifying

It is a different protocol entirely, same Frequency.
Will only work with other BLE devices.

I know that if the Note 2 is rooted, there are problems outputting to an HDTV via MHL (e.g., system status cannot be 'modified').
For anyone who has rooted their Note 3, can you still successfully output to an HDTV via MHL? Any issues?
Thanks!
I had a note 2 rooted and had no problem using the adaptor. If I will have time I will test this on my rooted N9005.

Hmm, maybe it was the way I rooted my Note 2 that caused it issues with MHL output. I do know that when I unrooted, I was once again able to output via MHL.
Anyways, I look forward to your testing! Thamks in advance.

Hi, may I ask which method you used to root? I'm just about to do some research but your input would be appreciated

It may have been a ROM issue rather than root as the ROM I used supported it

Please could someone confirm that mhl works also with root? I'm also curious to know if allshare cast dongle works with root.

Working fine with root.
Thanks!
Just to double-check, with your rooted N3, you can still output to HDTV via MHL without having to plug in the power cord into the MHL adapter, correct?
Thanks!
Bump... could my last question kindly be answered? Thanks!
Does note 3 have problem after rooting, cuz I really need to root mine

Can anyone confirm that the Pixel 4 has the option to share an existing WiFi connection through tethering? I am talking about this https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/11/03/pixel-3-3-xl-support-wi-fi-sharing-devices/
Yes it does. I have used it on mine and it works well.
