In the the keynote they say about the low power feature on 4.3. Does this include the old stereo headset or just for new devices that support this feature? Enlighten me please thanks

LE is only similar to Bluetooth by name and frequency. No, it does not make old devices "LE". Wikipedia it.

Thanks for the info. So its another product? I thought it will affect Bluetooth in general. Thanks for clarifying

It is a different protocol entirely, same Frequency.
Will only work with other BLE devices.

So I have my nice new GN2 and my nice couple month old Nexus 7 both sporting awesome NFC tech, but what to do with it? My first though was pairing them via bt and using the lte from my Note 2 over my college's sad excuse for a wifi system to power my N7 during the day. Then I though maybe auto establishing a tablettalk connection as well. Does anyone know of a way to program the two devices to automatically connect in such a way?

I know it is possible. I was talking to someone who uses Tasker and an NFC tag to automatically tether his N7 to his phone, but I've never studied the recipe.
I'm not sure why the tag, but maybe so he doesn't have to remove the phone from his belt... it's attached to his holster case. He said he has another one attached to his car seatbelt clasp to set the phone into his driving mode.
Wish I could give you more details.
Yeah that's essentially what I want to accomplish, but I'm not crazy about sticking one of those tags to my device. I was just hoping there was a way (with or without root) to make it read the NFC connection as a tag and start the connection.

I suspect that you would be able to, since NFC handles touch and go and touch and connect. I think the problem for some people would be in how strong the NFC connection is on their phone (some of them are weak) and how close together you need to get the two unitsto trigger it, especially if they are both in thick cases.
Putting them back to back could be as much work as just creating a widget to trigger a Tasker recipe that would do the same thing.
I've been thinking about doing this, too, but haven't, so I might start playing with Tasker to see whether I can set it up.
I'm going to do the same. Let me know if you discover anything

This is partly true. It could be a compatibility issue. What year and model is the car?
What ROM/kernel are you using?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Blutooth is broken on 4.2.1 you need to wait for 4.2.2 or use a custom kernel like Franco's Kernel.

Mine connects to my 2012 Ram on unrooted stock 4.2.1 with no problem. OP, see if there is an update for your vehicle from the dealer. My '12 has already had one due to an issue with the HDD in the radio.

Just called and nothing. They actually have never heard of anyone trying to pair their tablets. I had a feeling they would not be much help.
I am wondering if I try to go to another rom.

You're on 4.2.1 stock?
Wouldn't hurt to try. I'll try connecting to my 2013 Jetta tonight. What is it you're trying to tether? Audio, I suspect...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Cars usually only connect to Phones via bluetooth because phones have different bluetooth profiles than tablets since phones have changes in their framework to allow phone calls.
most cars connect to the phone so you can use the phone hands free. tablets dont have hands free bluetooth profiles thus is probably why your Mercedes isn't linking properly as the tablet doesn't support syncing phone books and phone calls.
Someone else may have paired theirs with their Dodge ram but they most likely paired it for Audio to their audio system but not their navigation/phone system.
I got the same problem next time will buy a BMW.
I had issues connecting an android 4.2.1 device to an AUDI A6. gave up after a few days, even took it to the dealership and they couldn't figure it out.
for some odd ball reason, android bluetooth just doesn't work right. I tried all my apple devices (ipad and ipod touch 4g) and it connected instamagically to the car.
Let me know how it goes for you and I will try the later rom

It's technical possible, but take a look at the positions of the microphones. They are not right placed for voice calling like a real phone, it wouldn't be a great experience to use it. And btw isn't it too big to call someone?

Maybe he wants to call add he uses it but with a headset. Don't have to put it up against your ear.. Looks funny though. my girl and I called each other with gtalk and she had it on her ear

You won't get song info on any Bluetooth device with a nexus phone. The reason is that stock android uses a an old version of the AVRCP Bluetooth protocol (v1.1). That does controlling like play, pause, etc but not the song metadata.
Keep your fingers crossed that Google puts it in v5.0
The only way to get it now is to find a custom Rom with AVRCP v1.3 or higher.

Working fine
Just unwraped my Nexus 4.
When I first hooked it up with the MW600, I could not get audio on phone conversations.
I had to reset the MW600 to get everything working fine.
Confirm if MUSIC WORKS
I realize its repetitive question, but wanted to reconfirm.
The MW 600 works flawlessly on the Nexus 4. Can someone Kindly RECONFIRM if the music can be played wireless and the usual battery on a single charge. I really like this and planning to buy.
Thanks in anticipation

MW600 is a very good device.
I have one and do not regret the spent money I have on this.
It lasts for about 2 days with a single charge, playing about 3~3.5h a day...
Go for it.
:good:
Thanks for the quick response... Another question pops in my mind... People using it in the earlier posts mentioned that the song name was not displayed on the MW 600 probably because of the stock ROM on the phone. I'm on AOKP ROM, I guess I will be able to see the song name. Do you think so??

I have both the MW600 and the newer MW1. On stock Nexus 4 Jellybean track info does not work with the MW600 but it works with the MW1 provided you install the Sony Smart Wireless Pro software available from the Play Store.

Don't think so. Is there a newer MW600? The MW600 I got was purchased when I got my Nexus One lol.
I just installed a new stereo receiver in my car. It's a JVC KD-X50BT. it works fine to skip tracks and such from the stereo , but it won't display the song name which, according to JVC, is related to the Nexus 4 not supporting bluetooth spp profile. Does anyone know anything about this?

Bluetooth SPP works fine for me, maybe it is the combination with the JVC stereo causing problems...
According to the representative I spoke to the N4 doesn't have the profile, do you know where I could find the correct specs for that?
Also, what media player do you use? I use Google music, I forgot to include that in the OP
Thanks

Same JVC receiver as you. I've used Google Play Music, the stock HTC music, and Pandora. The only way Pandora will display the info is if I use the special JVC-Pandora mode (but then it limits my skips to 5, eventhough I'm on Pandora One).
This sounds like it's an issue with the receiver then. Anyone have any confirmation (spec sheet, etc.) that would confirm that the N4 does indeed support spp so that I can call and rightfully rant?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Check this thread out. It's an issue with stock android and not your head unit. It only shows track info if I play music from Pandora and that's it. It's annoying. I have a Sony head unit.

Final answer (which is in line with all my experiments haha): the Nexus 4 on AOSP does not support the necessary Bluetooth profile (AVRCP 1.3). However some custom ROMs do, CyanogenMod does with the cavet that the feature has not yet been ported to CyanogenMod 10, that is it seems to have worked fine in CM 9 but isn't included in CM 10 yet. So it's just a question of waiting/kindly reminding the devs.
