[Q] i9505 reboots during boot or 10 sec after startup. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear XDA,
My phone has this weird problem since Foxhound v1.7 and i cannot figure out what the problem is.
When my phone starts up, after a few seconds the s4 looses modem connection (cannot call/sms). In result, the phone just shuts off.
I cannot do anything with my phone since it just desides to shut off.
I've installed stock firmware from Djembeys thread, but it would not fix my problem. I've did a data/cache factory reset but the problem stays.
Also when i flash other ROMS the problem stays. the phone just shuts off after booting up.
Is there anything else i can try to solve this weird problem? i'd post it in the Foxhound thread but it gets loaded with other questions after which no one sees mine.
Thanks allot in advance

Hi,
Try HERE
Basically, get completely back to stock.
If the problem persists, you may have hardware failure.

Well i tried that today and it worked, i thought. after 1 hour it just went back to 'abnormal' and shut off the phone. And when restarted, shut down again after few seconds xD
Guess i have to reset the flash counter and go back to the shop?
Or is there something else i can try to do.

[q] stuck in bootloop sprint ls980 please help!!!!

OK to start off i am not a noob at this, i have read though the forms and cant seem to find out why my phone will not come out of this bootloop. This started happening 2 days ago when I went to install a new rom on my phone. I powered down my phone, put it in recovery (Twrp), I wiped everything but internal storage. I then processed to flash the new rom. Everything went great. My phone rebooted and worked fine for the first 1 min, when i tried to pull down the notification bar the phone stuck off and went into a bootloop. I then tried to go back to my old rom and had the same problem (notification bar would not pull down). So i went to plan B and used the Back To Stock Form to restore the phone back to stock. The process went smooth as well not a problem at all. When the phone started up it allowed me to set up the voice navigation and name of the phone, as i went to update the prl and profile the phone shut off again, when it turned back on it starts normally and the goes to the lock screen where i am unable to make any iterations with the screen at all besides when it turns the blacklight off, as i try to use the knock on the LED light turns white but the screen will not turn back on (not even with the power button). Then it reboots to the lockscreen again and continues to do it until i manually force it off. I have tried everything from redownloading the firmware files, tried back to stock 3 times, hard factory reset, and reset in recovery mode. My phone is back to stock but i am unable to do anything with it unless i factory reset and go though the set up again, but even then i cant get a connection (even with wifi) without the phone shutting off and rebooting. Everytime the phone reboots the time reads 12:00am and switches to 12:01 really quick. I cant get a connection at ALL (I EVEN TRIED REMOVING THE SIMS AND AND PUT IT BACK IN AFTER BACK TO STOCK PROCESS.)
Im not sure if the application Dr.Web could possibly be making my phone do this. I did have it installed and did not remove before I tried to switch to the new rom. The anti-theft part was active.
SOMEONE PLEASE BE MY HERO AND HELP........I REALLY WOULD HATE TO DEAL WITH LG ON THIS ISSUE IF I CAN FIX IT MYSELF
THANKS TO EVEYONE THAT SUPPORTS AN ANSWER

lol sorry i wanted to be as pacific as possible. I did make a backup before flashing the rom. when i tried to go back to it i had the same problem with it rebooting after a few mins. i tried flashing furnace 0.0.8 kernel after installing a fresh rom but same problem. I am back on factory recovery atm is there anyway to flash twrp back to the phone without it being rooted? i tried to get the computer to communicate with the phone when it turns on but it wont seem to connect unless im in download mode or recovery.

I had the same problem except with me, i was just trying to change fonts manually. It went into a bootloop and i stressed dover it for hours until finally i found out that you have to use the lg mobile support tool (you can find it in one of these threads on the lg g2) and revert it back to stock. That fixed it perfectly fine. Its a lengthy process but simple. If that doesn't work you have to do what the lg mobile support tool does semi-manually with another program lg flash tool which is longer but just as simple if you follow the directions given in the thread to the letter.

I did happen to get into settings and seen that both my imei and baseband are unknown. Could this be causeing the proble m? is there any way to fix it?

Yes my phone turns on but doesnt stay on for long it will freeze and reboot i noticed my imei and baseband are unknown. Any idea what can be causeing that to happen? Could it cause the phone to reboot like it is? I am back on stock firmware again,. I did try debugging but still no luck, i was even luck enough to root it again before it rebooted but still didnt help.

**** thats not good at all. This happen when I was using my S3, if IMEI is gone then you could not use the phone at all, theres no way you can get it back unless you made a back up. you have to sent it in man, sorry this is as good as hard brick.

My friend also has a lg g2 that i rooted for him would i be able to use a backup from his phone. Also when i turn the phone conpletely off and hold down all 3 bottons it brings me to a hardware key settings it does shows my imei number there. If i sent it into lg would they know the phone was once rooted or does the back to stock method cover it up? Thanks for your help btw

they have coders there, I'm sure if they really want to know they can figure it out. If you send it in to get it fix out of your own pockets (meaning you pay them) then i'm sure they dont care, but if you want a replacement due to warranty then it may be a different story.

I eneded up restoreing my phone back to stock and took it into my local sprint store it cost ne 75 dollars to replace the phone not under warranty (if u have sprint protection its free) i told them i took and ota update and it started rebooting itself. If you do get a replacement make sure u back up your efs files to a safe place on your phone. Theses files can become corrupted by flashing roms and kernals.

Not under warranty? Doesn't it have a 1 year manufacturer warranty? The G2 wasn't released on Sprint until November last year so it should have been covered.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
Yes its still under manufacturer warranty but when i made a repair order with lg it said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get my phone back and if they found out it was due to being rooted and flashing roms im sure lg would of charged a arm a leg to repair it. With sprint i got a new phone in 2 days or ordering it.

[Q] Please help - S4 Keeps Rebooting - VIDEO

Hello All
My Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) keeps on freezing then rebooting in an unusual way.
The problem is intermittent, it would constantly happen in certain periods and happen less frequently in other periods. At the moment, i can beerly use my phone for 1 minute before it does it again and again. And in this minute apps are just crashing. I get the pop-up messages of applications crashing. I tap ok only for the same message to instantly reappear.
Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped
Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped
The issue would happen when the phone is in sleep mode (screen turned off), while im using it, in safe mode or even when its rebooting or on the splash screen.
I am using the original battery and charger that came with the phone and never flashed or rooted my phone. I have however had to flash it couple of months ago after it bricked all by itself. I used one of the firmwares from www.samsung-updates.com
See this video to understand exactly what is happening

1. It seems you recovered one image of one backup with the recovery.
2. SOLUTION: Reflash the firmware through ODIN. The latest for your phone is this one: HERE.

Try to flash firmware package with the latest version of ODIN and Sammy drivers, also use the original cable that came with the phone. Often, cables that aren't Samsung genuine fail to flash firmware.
If this doesn't solve your problem, then you might try a firmware reflash with PIT file. If nothing works, your processor (or motherboard) it's likely fried. Take it to a service centre

[Q] GT-I9505 suddenly turning off

Hi, I'm kind of desperate here and hope you guys can help me: since about 2 weeks my phone is ramdomly turning off and then it just doesn't want to turn on, does it when it wants or shows the initial Samsung Galaxy S4 logo and turns off again, I mean it just goes dark suddenly, not showing the Samsung boot animation nor anything, it just goes black. Initially it was only when I turned on the mobile data so I flashed another modem but now it is at any moment, Wi-Fi, mobile data... Even in safe mode. At first I thought it was the ROM beacuse I was in Lollipop BTU but I've changed it about a million times with full wipes/factory resets each time and the problem stays. I'm starting to think it's a hardware problem but I can't tell and I have no clue. Thank you for your help guys. I'm currently on Lollipop stock 5.0.1 I9505XXUHOE1-I9505OXXHOD2. I've cleaned cache, dalvik cache, done wipe/factory reset and nothing. Thank you guys, I'm lost here. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and it stays working fine but somtimes it doesn't. It is not related with any app that I've noticed.
If someone with more experience can help be I would deeply appreciate it, really, thanks in advance, I'm kind of about to throw it against the wall, thanks a million.

[Q] i9505 Somtimes boot, sometimes doesn't.

I had an S4 in for LCD replacement, everything went fine. Possibly the EASIEST phone repair possible.
The phone was reassembled and worked fine, put it up for sale and updated etc. After a few days of it sitting there I went to turn it back on and it wouldn't boot, just hung at the Samsung logo and wouldn't boot recovery.
I left it and thought i'd sort it the next day and went to proceed to flash with Odin until the battery charge logo came on so I knew it was working and then I turned it on and it all worked fine.
It was working fine so I thought it was a one off so turned it off and it happened again. Now im constantly flashing via Odin to try and get anything out of it, sometimes it will boot up get past the Samsung logo then it will freeze.
I have read near enough every threat on the subject, I doubt I'll get an answer here but I'll keep this bumped everyday in hope there's somebody who knows what's going on.
Here's what I've tried
- Flashed latest rom via odin
- Flashed 4.4.2 via odin (supposed to fix this issue)
- Flashed PIT & latest rom via odin
- Flashed PIT & 4.4.2 via odin
I don't know what else to do

What hardware...?
I have looked at the logic board and can't find anything wrong with it.
Well, it can't be the software because you already tried a bunch. The only constant thing is the hardware. May be a semi-functional power button. I don't know.

All buttons work fine.
Doesn't look like eMMC is the issue because it's writing to the NAND, there's probably an IC with a bad solder joint which explains why it randomly boots sometimes, the only problem is I don't know which IC it is.
Reflowed U800 IC 140c and i9505 booted up no problems

Hardware or Software Issue? (Diagnostic Needed)

Hello,
I am having issues finding what the problem is on my phone. The problem all started when I rooted and installed a custom rom on my galaxsy s5. It worked perfectly for a couple of months. Then I started noticing this weird issue whenever I plugged in any headphones the phone would automatically restart. I didn't really look into the problem like that and just kept it the way it was, since I used bluetooth alot.
The problem progressed to the point that when it restarted itself it would go into a boot loop. I would have to take out the battery wait a few seconds then plug it back in. At this point I decided to restore back to stock firmware. But this made the problem worse. Now its a 15% chance the phone boots up normally, and 85% chance it boots to a black screen. By black screen I mean it boots up normally but I cannot see anything on the screen. I hear the sounds, and touch still works.
If I am lucky and it boots up normally it works perfectly for a few hours. Then at randomly when I put the phone to sleep it restarts itself. There is no reason I can think is causing this problem.
Phone Info:
Model: G900T 16GB
Firmware: Stock 5.0
Flashed With: Odin 10.x.x
Please help me diagnose my problem so I can fix it.
Possible Hardware Issue:
Digitilizer/LCD : Black screen explains this. But also if I do not put the phone to sleep it will work for days. Boot screen, Download Mode, Recovery all work without problem.
Internal Memory - Could be, that means I have to throw the phone away. But wouldn't nothing also work...
Click to collapse
Possible Software Issue:
Corrupt Rom/Cache: Flashed several different kinds of stock rom, all with same result. Used recovery to delete cache.
Virus: Yeah leaning towards this.. Maybe somehow hooked itself to the core aspects of the phone.
Recovery/Download Mode Corrupt: This part of the phone is corrupt. 15% chance of booting to recovery. And Download Mode doesn't delete all user data.

I will try as a last resort, since 5.1.1 is unrootable. You know whats weird I am not having any issues now. I will let it stay like this until it gives me a problem. As a computer science major this is pissing me the fck off. Not being 100% sure that it is a hardware problem.
