I use 3minit for network icons. Has a couple to choose from.
For Roger apps you should be able to download them from the play store.

[Q] i9500 octacore Exynos 5 on AWS?

Hello!
I'm just wondering If anyone has tried the octacore version of the S4 on Mobilicity or Wind mobile (aws 1700/2100 bands)? I'm currently in Asia, Anne think it'd be super cool to pick up one of the international octacore versions here, but since my preferred carrier back home (in Canada) is Mobilicity, I just wanna make sure it'll work first. I've tried googling to see if anyone has tried it before, but I wasn't able to find anything.
If anyone has tried it, or knows if it'll work, I'd really appreciate your help!
Thanks so much =)
Manda
i popped in my inactive wind sim and it shows wind home when i search for mobile networks but i am not sure as it was inactive
According to the specs posted at gsmarena (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9500_galaxy_s4-5125.php), the i9500 doesn't support AWS. You would be stuck with 2G EDGE data

Thank you for your help. Did the roaming icon show up at all? I saw on the wiki that it's not supposed to work.
Can AWS be enabled on s4 i9500 - please help guys.
Hi,
I have a wind sim (Canada), it doesn't work on my S4 i9500 which i bought from UAE. Is there a way AWS frequencies can be enabled on this phone? I am desperately looking for a work around. To me, XDA is my only hope left.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks.
gt-i9500 on windmobile

You can use other networks provided you have a SIM card installed for such network.
I used this method to root. It's very simple and the dev is very, very well recognized: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293800
Thank you for you answer. I heard that Bell and Telus are sharing her antenna, so it is possible to be always connected to bell Antenna?

[Q] Recent way to flash Sprint Galaxy S4 to Metro PCS

Hello everyone. I need to flash my Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint to MetroPCS. What is the most recent way to do this? Thank you in advance.

Flashing is no longer supported by MetroPCS and not really practical anymore. Since Metro has stopped using Houdini no new ESNs can be added to their CDMA database, so the only way to get a working flash is to illegally change your phone's ESN.
Now, even if you did successfully flash your S4 over there a re a few reasons why it's a bad idea. For one Metro is going to be turning off their CDMA network completely soon, since Metro merged with T-Mobile thy use GSM now. Two, a flash would only get you 3g. And lastly Metro dealers will most likely not even activate the phone for you if you bring it into the store, because they are not allowed and will get in trouble if word got out that they were activating flashed phones.
If you want to use your Sprint S4 on Metro just follow this guide here to complete a SIM unlock, which will allow you to use your S4 with GSM networks.

[Q] Rooted At&t phone on Tmobile, how do I get...

Hey guys. I have and Unlocked and rooted i9505 S4 (at&t branded), currently running the Goldeneye rom. I recently switched to T-mobile and wanted to make use of their wifi-calling feature but even after installing the t-mobile sim card, I dont see an option for wifi calling anywhere.
can anyone suggest a way I can get wifi-calling on my unlocked/rooted at&t branded s4? thanks!
I think you might need to take it to T-Mobile store. From my understanding, it is only for SGH-M919. AT&T phones are not compatible, even if you switch carriers. You may have to flash a T-Mobile Touchwiz rom, not sure. If anyone thinks I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. :cyclops:

Thx for the reply rootnerd! yea thats the problem i'm having... I read that some people got it working with a flashed a T-mobile rom while others said they couldn't. So I was trying to see if anyone could shed some light as to which T-mobile roms with the wifi calling feature could be flashed via safestrap on an at&t phone, because I don't really want to buy a new phone from t-mo just yet

Yeah this is where AT&T users would know the answer. I currently have a T-Mobile S4 but I really don't think it's worth keeping Touchwiz just for WiFi calling. But everyone has there own perspective.

Quick APN question here..

I have an s4 from Virgin Mobile up here in the land of the north Exact model is the Canadian i337m... I didn't like the official Lollipop, so I installed a custom lollipop rom. Obviously I could say which one, but it isn't a rom-specific issue, so I'll leave that out Anyways, since the Bell and Virgin APN settings are nearly identical, custom roms show my carrier as Bell rather than Virgin. I understand that they are the same carrier, but I know stock roms show Virgin and my old N5 showed virgin on any rom. If anyone has any pointers, I'd appreciate it. I'm wondering if there is either an apn setting I can configure or if this is a modem issue. Stock Lollipop is pretty terrible to be honest haha
Thanks in advance!

Probably just a ROM thing. Check the mobile network settings and see if it picks up virgin or not. Check the APN after that also.

See the thing is that Bell and Virgin use the same MCC and MNC numbers. I edited the apn setting to match the one that I found for Virgin with a quick google, but It's still showing up as bell :/
I think this is because Bell and Virgin are essentially the same carrier so the ROM's which you are using is detecting the "larger" carrier (the big brother, Bell). As long as this doesn't affect your usage, speed, data, etc I think it would be a cosmetic issue.
