CIFS kernel module working on Note

In case anyone needs it, the cifs kernel module for Galaxy S compiled by tegrak works. It's been working fine on my KK1 kernel. Not bad as it saves some compiling effort!
Just pull out the version for 2.3.4+ from the original thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113191.
Insmod slow-work.ko then cifs.ko.
But better loaded and managed with CifsManager apk

Sorry double-posted
great find, works for me too.
kka firmware with cf-root kk1 kernel
it don't work with KK9 ..
can anyone compil it for my firmware ?
Insmod always says file not found. I triple-checked and the path is correct, and the modules are there.
???
And you have which kernel version?

FM kernel 1.4, Sheep ROM 1.2
it works when i do insmod by adb but when i do it cifs-manager, how would i load both the slow-work.ko and the cifs.ko at the same time?
***** figured it out,
put both files into /mnt/sdard/modules and then whack the following lines into path of cifs-manager
/mnt/sdcard/modules/slow-work.ko;insmod /mnt/sdard/modules/cifs.ko
Good bye AllSuck.apk
Doesn't work with KL7 on Abyss Note 3.0
Works only on stock kernels ?
Don't work on stock kl7 ... Too

works on xxkl7 (stock)
Could you post the modules here for the kl7, that are works for you?

Settings in cifs manager:
/mnt/sdcard/slow-work.ko;insmod /mnt/sdcard/cifs.ko
Don't work...my samba log don't ask anything too...the problem is evidently on these modules...

It's working with cifs manager. Using kernel cf xla3.
EDIT: After cifs activation (usage), i had a huge battery drain while phone was sleeping with wifi off ... had to restart.

Finally it works...
I use Droidwall and Cifsmanager was not displayed into...
As it mount modules, it's the LAN access for the Linux kernel who must be authorize
After that it works fine
That for support, and sorry for my mistake

Ok, works for 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKKA... when the modules are manually inserted (checked by lsmod)
# lsmod
cifs 204889 0 - Live 0xbf06c000 (F)
slow_work 8711 1 cifs,[permanent], Live 0xbf014000 (PF)
Any way to 'mount' SMB disk directly ???
(i.e something like mount -t cifs //mysrv/mydisk /mnt/some/where)
Hello!
May you explain what CIFS stands for and which effects it has to use it or what it is for? I see CIFS now is implemented in the Franco-kernel as a toggle in his application.
With Cifs Manager you can mount a directory with e.g. movies,pdf,mp3... from your Windows PC to your Android file system. Cifs manager needs cifs.ko kernal module.

Tun.ko module for Nexus 7?

I was wondering if we have a tun.ko module for our device yet, or for any Jelly Bean devices.
Also, where would I put it into?
It is prebuilt into the stock kernel. You can download the openvpn binary installer, install and fire up ovenvpn

Samba (CIFS) kernel modules for Google Nexus S, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.2), JZO54K, kernel 3.0.31-g5894150
I've compiled the necessary kernel modules for enabling CIFS support on stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
I use F3d0r's "CifsManager" to load the kernel modules and manage my CIFS shares.
My settings for CifsManager is as follows:
Load cifs module: <Yes>
Load via insmod: <Yes>
Path to cifs.ko[:<modpath>]*
/system/lib/modules/md4.ko:/system/lib/modules/nls_utf8.ko:/system/lib/modules/cifs.ko

I don't know what you mean. What should be different? Kernel modules only runs together with (one) the corresponding correct (version-vise) kernel.

That sounds really weird. Is that an Nexus S ("soju") or something else? What information do you have in your "About phone"?

Xposed / Framework

not sure if theres anything out there for the 230nu? but I was curious if there was anyway to get the framework for this device, Ive never used exposed other than a slight dabble with it on my Galaxy Note i717 ! Anyone have any knowldege of this ? I am rooted , and I do have TWRP , however the TWRP I have is useless as it cant do anything! If theres another copy of recovery out there Id be willing to try that out as well, I dont actually use the Tab all that much , I have too much fun on my OnePlus One
I don't really understand your question all to well, but to my knowledge the Xposed framework should work on all devices. I have the 8" tab 4 and Xposed is installed as are multiple modules. The xposed framework is just an APK, which I believe makes it universal. Hopefully this helps with your question.
Just find the xposed apk, move it to your device and install the apk. Then you should install/update the framework and reboot your device. Should be completely done with everything after that besides installing whatever modules you want. I'd suggest checking the subforum for it and you should have all your answers there.
I've never used xposed before but I thought it would be easier than flashing a ROM. Where do I get it an SM-T230NU & what are the best modules?
Just search for the xposed forum on XDA and then you download it. I use wanam xposed module to kill camera sound and to do a few other useful tweaks and one or two other modules just for giggles like the hodor module.

There's a warning before trying to install the module. Forget exactly what it said but something to the effect of not compatible with the system.

The warning msg says "xposed is not compatible w/ android apk version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a). Etc...
Pm me if you want me to email you the screenshot of the whole thing. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread... I just recently picked up a TAB 4 (SM-T230NU) and also am having some confusion on installing xposed. I am rooted, and using Android 4.4.2. When using the APK it will not allow me to install the framework, with the message "xposed is not compatible w/ android apk version 19 or your processor architecture (armeabi-v7a). Etc..." ...
Anyone able to help me on getting Xposed on this device WITHOUT updating my android version?
