Never mind, I installed PA 3.99 and couldn't be happier xD
only reason i was asking about android 4.2 rom before was because i thought 4.3 still had root issues.

Nope they were fixed awhile ago. Plus, if you're on a 4.2.2 ROM chances are it will try and download the 4.3 OTA and end up using so much data on your phone unless you restrict data to Google or something like that. Yes it does happen even if you're on a custom ROM.

[Q] 4.1.2 on top of PA?

Can I install 4.1.2 on top of Paranoid Android's custom ROM? (Trinity kernel) The one thing I have noticed so far on PA is that the home screen still has no rotation which I know 4.1.2 fixed. Not a huge deal, but I am assuming that means PA is still based on the earlier JB version. Will it break anything if I manually update to the latest? I am new to tablets/rooting so I wanted to check before I tried it. (Almost bricked my tablet earlier today cause I had the wrong .zip for PA. Made me hesitant...)

[Q] OTA updates with custom ROM/KERNEL

Hey guys,
I'm planning to root the Nexus 4 when I get it, my question is will it get updates while it's running a custom ROM like CM 10.1 or custom kernel like franco? OR do I have to return to stock to get an update ? I bought this phone because it is a nexus device which gets updates faster than any android device so it is important to me..
Thanks a lot!!
no you cant get ota updates with custom rom/kernel... update accordingly to your rom's progression.

[Q] Help on new nexus 4 4.2 and PA

This is my first Thread and i have to say that im really really but really sorry if this post is repetead..but im really newbee on this.
I got my nexus 4 like one week ago with Android 4.2. And i have to say i used to read a lot this Forum...and now that i have my Nexus i would like to root and install a ROM.
So my basics questions are:
1. My Nexus 4 is stock rigth now 4.2...can i go normal update to 4.2.2 and root no problem??? its there a preferred alternative to do this?? In other words should i root first then update? or update 4.2.2 then root_???
2. Once my nexus is on 4.2.2. and its rooted..(if point 1 is ok)...can i install Paranoid Android 3.1 on it??? like the developers explain on this Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020336&page=1635 ???
At the end any recomendation from you guys will be really appreciated...anything will work for me hehe...
Stock Ui is very borring...=(
My best Regards.

1. Yes. You should update it to 4.2.2 and then root it.
2. Yes. Once you're rooted. You can install the latest PA rom.

Not really, I assume you had the idea from S3 getting 4.3 instead of 4.2.
S3 skipped 4.2 because 4.3 was already released, and Samsung didn't have time to make both 4.2 and 4.3 roms.
Sorry for the off-topic.
edcsmon smitten
Hello,
I think it will be December......
Personal guess: we will see a leaked ROM around start-mid October.

IMHO if you want to feel how it taste 4.3 go directly to any modding thread and flash one the roms already available (after a nandroid backup), they are performing quite well and can be used as daily driver. Then, if you miss too much TW you can recover your nandroid and wait for Samsung to realese a 4.3 rom.
anyone have any details on what we can expect on the new firmware?

Issue Free 4.3 Rom for Kid

Hey Guys,
I recently upgraded to the new Nexus 7 and am giving my old one to my little sister. I wanted to update to 4.3 but am not sure if there are any stable roms that she won't need to update or trouble shoot yet.
Any suggestions?
Should i just try the stock 4.3 for her?
Thanks

I would recommend stock 4.3
1. Wont need to trouble shoot.
2. Will get a message when Google pushes an update
3. Stable
I agree with kilometers4...
Stock JellyBean 4.3 is smooth, stable and secure.... and has minimal maintenance hassles.
Difficult to recommend anything else really.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Anything with stock kernel is basically reliable in the fact the source is AOSP so everything is opened up to us and is stable. Can't go wrong with stock. I myself am currently using one of the first roms that came out Clean ROM 4.0 and it's just peachy.

What everyone else said. For a kid the most stable and trouble free ROM is usually stock.
