any update on the link? It still seems to be broken.
Hey, Thanks for sharing nice information... I read some great tips from this url www.techibiz.com/mobile-apps.html that would be very helpful but I think as per the mobile app marketing concern you have to watch out this http://portfolio.openxcell.com/resources/building-success-through-mobile-app-marketing.html that might be very helpful and interesting. It might be possible that you will get an amazing idea about some great app marketing strategies from that ebook.
It says your page is under construction.

Well, I've started learning Java and I read somewhere that Java is used to program apps for Android. Now, I'm not looking to make complex games and apps, more like a "database" app to store data and maybe some form of note taking application to start off with. Can you guys recommend reading material, tutorials and programs to further my eduction? I've hit a bit of a rough spot so far.
Android has a notepad tutorial you can start there for free lol
http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/notepad/index.html
And when I started most people said "Hello, Android" was the best for beginners.
You can also check www.apress.com they have a decent array for books for android,java...etc Any of those books can be purchased from them directly or from amazon.com

The Apress books are very helpful with the examples in code. It helped me a lot and it still does. I've got Beginning Android 2. I didn't read the book from a to z, I just started trying stuff and search a lot on the internet, there are a lot of examples out there.

i spent 25+ years developing on mainframes, then windows pcs, and now phones! what a ride!
my biggest hurdle was transforming my development thinking style from linear (fortran-77, Macro-32, pascal, assembler...) to the object-oriented mode. Classes, instantiation, "this", blew me away for awhile....ok, still does sometimes...
I programmed for the windows mobile phone for 2 years and wrote most of the stuff in lua. You can see some of the windows mobile clocks i designed here:

here are the books and web sites that have helped me the most:

I'd not wrote any code in java before I've started building apps for android. Only experience with VHDL, TCL, Makefiles and the basis of C++ and visual basic.
I think it is good to know the basis of Java and OOP but not necessary to be a java pro before you can start with android.
I've learned most from just start with simple android examples an try to understand what they do. If you have a question look on the internet and if you can't find the answer, just ask the question. There are a lot people willing to help.
I usually use the stackoverflow website (http://stackoverflow.com) to post my questions and looking for answers. When you'll be deep in development, these guys will be useful
Community help with marketing
Here on XDA I have seen many members collaborate which is great. Nobody is perfect but we can combine our knowledge and create something which is really amazing. This is one of the reasons I like XDA for. :good:
Currently there are threads for developers who are looking for testers, translators and designers.
However, it is a shame if we create fantastic apps and nobody is downloading them.
To bring the collaboration to the next level I set up this thread.
Developers, here are your marketing experts.
This thread is divided into different sections for different purposes.
If you want to participate, send me a PM with a link to your profile and tell me what you are skilled in. I will add you to the list.

Demo videos and screenshots:
If you present your app in an app store, the first thing in addition to the description your consumers see are the screenshots and the demo video. Providing a demo video is a huge advantage. It is one of the best opportunities to present your app to your costumer.

If I have the time, I'll see if I can write up a more comprehensive marketing guide covering the pricing and promotion strategies and aspects of marketing. Both are really important, especially for this market, and quite a few times I've seen apps that seem to have potential hindered by a not-so-smart/appropriate pricing/promotion strategy that the dev have in place :/

Added app reviews category.
Exchange Reviews with other developers
Today Android marketing is very expensive right now, so why not a review exchange?
androidki[.]com
Androidki is a exchange review web totally for free, your app can be reviewed by the web authors and also by other users in the web.
Also reviews are schema.org standarized so the reviews will also appear on google results
Best of luck with your android app!

Well I guess I'll toss my hat into the ring for some more reviews.
I'm doing a little android blog/review thing. It's in VERY early beta and i'm playing with it everyday so it'll be changing plenty.
http://androidsexplained.com/reviews.php
That's the reviews page, I already got a few big apps up, and bunch more I have to upload.
Basically its gonna be the standard bigger apps, and I want to have a good section focusing on the smaller and indie developers. Give some love back to XDA and all that.
Every little bit helps, so if you need a review feel free to message me on here or mail me at [email protected]

Hi all,
I have an app on apple AppStore, CodeNavigator.
It's a developer tool, which can read code, and has many features, git, indexing....
I know there should be many developers in the US and western countries, but why my app only sales well in China?
Can anyone give me advice to promote my app on US and Europe?
Thanks.

I've compiled a set of tips on my blog for your reference!
http://thedoplgangr.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/promoting-your-android-app-really-that-easy/
I think, one way to promote your app is to create facebook page for it and then inside app create link to this facebook page. In this case if you have some users from US, they will probably like page of your app on facebook, their friends (who are likely to be from US too) will see it and will know about your app!

We found your app on AppStore. It has awful English in its description. You even misspelled Ruby as "Rubby". We think it's the reason nobody takes your app seriously.
Also your app is only for iPhone. Every developer in US and EU has iPad, so it makes no sense to navigate over the code on iPhone. Make iPad version (or universal app).
Also we can help you to promote your app by sending its announcement to editors of app review sites all over the world (we have contacts of 940+ editors of sites that review iOS apps). See our site for more details (google for iSpreadnews). BTW we can promote Android apps too.

I'm interested in your services. Can you share some success stories of other apps you've promoted?
you can hire for any country or can get free promotions too
As my experience and im working since last 5 years for android and iTune applications.
once my app get ready there after use or hire these two web sites
1. primebuffet [dot] ( com )
2. 4xn [dot] ( org )
these both websites are best for my experience, from 1st web provide facilities of free promotions of android and ios applications
its work like app exchange. that mean you need to install app of other users and they will install your apps. further if you don't want to spent your time then you just can buy coins from from them and same can be use for promotions of your any plat form applications
the link given of second web , whom you can hire for promotions direct for any country or for all over world
realy i love it
thanks

thank you for the info
After you fix the ASO in your description, it probably to make sense to reach out to the 100s of developer blogs (depending on what languages your app covers) for a feature or guest post. There are so many blogs/sites out there specifically with a developer audience (and very few apps about development) that getting in touch will be much easier than if you had a gaming app.
