Hi guys
I'm not too impressed with the sound quality of this phone. I was just wondering if there is any way to improve it? From what I can gather, custom Kernels like Francos only currently work on 4.2, so I'm not too sure what I can do on 4.3.
Similarly, the sound quality over bluetooth is very "hissy." I'm using Jaybuds Bluebuds X so it's definitely not because of the headphones.
Cheers in advanced for any help.

But as far as I'm aware these Kernels don't work on 4.3 yet.
Franco's kernel does work on 4.3

Oh really? Looks like I might have been reading some out of date posts, haha.
Please can you provide a link by any chance? The only one I've found is an "unoffical" one.
Cheers

Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002782
If you want to try some other kernels you can just take a look in the Nexus 4 Original Android Development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1912
There you will find several custom kernels for 4.3

The quality of answers you get in this world is often related to the quality of your questions.
If I was you, I'd try Kekinash's Rooted Stock ROM for a while. If you need extra device support, Fincan seems to be very forthcoming at the moment, he's recently posted additional kernel modules for Kekinash's ROM and is willing to consider requests.
thanks, so your saying the stock rom rooted wont support all devices? And what do the kernals do?

OMG.
BAD BAD
I HAVE ONE Of the rooted near stock 3.2.
Close as stock is best.
Only issue I have had and its with several roms.loss of su but this can be fixed.
Goodluck.
The true answer to your question is there are no true best.
I'm with erica on this. I'm running Kekinash's rooted stock rom myself and have no complaints, not even loss of su.
And if you have to ask about kernels, just stick to the rooted stock roms and experiment no further until you've educated yourself properly about custom roms. There's plenty of material on this site and elsewhere to learn from. Just use the search functions.
Not sure what rom I'm on works great though

I know it's Android related, but I can't believe this isn't available now.
I need to have my phone on LOUD for calls at night as I am usually on support for work, but I don't want notifications bothering me..
Any options?
Cyanogenmod includes the option for different loudness.

Thanks! Can't wait for an official, stable release.
It is stable, only the name is nightly runs so smooth and without issues for me.

Absolutely no difference in stability between stock and current CM10.1 nightlies. The only "issues" are that some CM10 features haven't yet been ported to CM10.1.

So bluetooth/wifi/gps/etc all work exactly as well on CM10.1 as they do on stock? Those are usually the things that give me problems on CM on non-Nexus phones.

Yes on non Nexus phones, but you got a nexus now, right? So all is working fine like on stock rom.
Good to know, so is this specific "feature" in there yet?
I promised myself I would leave it stock for a while..lol

Yes, when you flashed it go to settings>sound>volumes. Then there is a box you must uncheck to select the difeerent volumes.
Hi guys,
One and simple question: - what kernel to use with stock rom on N7 3G 32GB, considering:
- A kernel that would not have to mess around with frequency and other settings without overclock and deliver a better battery life.
- For performance equal (or better) to stock satisfies.
- A kernel ready to install and no need to configure anything.
What recommend following these parameters?
:good:
Tks.
looking for a simple kernel, without many and many settings and deliver a excelente batt life
I am on smoothrom v5.0 using lean kernel and while I am new to the android modding community I tried 4 or 5 kernel/ROM combos before I decided on this combo. I will say I noticed my quadrant scores increase from 3600 to 4600 w/o over clocking and my battery life increased by a decent bit. I son,t know the exact increase but it was noticeable to me over stock setup.

20mmrain,
thanks,
Stock rom i think its ok to me, but i´m open mind.
Kernel for me its more important. I´ll take a look on this.
Tks.
Suggestion- read the kernel threads in the development forum and come to your own informed opinion.
Thread reported.
Hey no problem..... Give it a look..... I am not sure if you will get the same effect using stock ROM with leankernel nor am I sure you can even use the lean kernel with the stock ROM by itself. I know they have a thread here at XDA for this kernel maybe someone there can let you know.

I did it. And so I decided to ask the opinion. Most of what I read is always settings for experts, which I am not.
And do not want to spam the same question over all kernel threads.

just wondering what is the simplest kernel, next stock, delivery parameters without the need for various tweaks!
Ask to ear the users opinions. I think sometimes simplicity can be the better choice, especially for non-expert like me.
Tks.
lean kernel and intersectraven's kernel. personally I like intersectraven's kernel better
edit: not sure about 3G versions though

If you like stock then why flash a custom ROM? If you don't like the added functionality that custom ROMs bring then there's no point using them. Use stock rooted and be happy, but don't ask (or, by the tone of your post, demand) devs to create ROMs for you which no one else will use.

That's what all custom ROMs are for the N4, since it runs pure Android. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say.

Because aosp based rom are full of bugs, issues, force close and unstable ? making my n4 lagging without reason where stock doesn't have ?
But I somehow want an enhanced stock rom I don't know why.
Well maybe I could miss pie control which is the only thing that is useful in a n4 custom rom.

Dunno what you're taking about but I've experienced no lag on my N4 with stock or custom ROMs. I haven't come across a ROM which has any serious bugs or stability issues on the N4. Also, PIE is the only useful feature in your opinion. There are so many other useful features available IMO.

That makes no sense. There are no buggy roms on nexus devices. They're stable because nexus are aosp devices.
Don't make stuff up.

Hi,
I've been out of the Samsung ecosystem for a long time... start of the S3 in fact.
Any suggestions on best alternative kernel as there's no ARHD, franco or Faux for the S5 that I can see.

Asking what the best kernel is no easier to answer since you gave us no idea of what your priorities are. Perhaps the Blaze or Phoenix kernels.
