[Q] Weather & temperature on home screen - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Color Nook running CM 10,2. I have weather and temperatures on the home screen. The temp is in Celcius. How can I change to Farenheit? I've searched all through settings for a week and can't figure it out.

If it's the same widget that came with my CM10 it's in settings, weather settings, unclick metric

Something is not the same in my setup, there is no "weather" option in settings. I tried all other options in settings and cannot find 'weather' listed in any of them.
In the meantime I dragged that clock/weather app (or widget?) into the DELETE column then went to the Play Store and downloaded Android Weather widget but it installs as an app not a widget !? I'm a NOOB with this operating system, seems that every way I turn things don't work as expected.
Thank you for trying to help.

Uncheck "Use Metric"

Unassociate app

I can't seem to find the answer to this one anywhere, but I'm sure I'm probably just searching for it incorrectly.
How do I un-associate an application?
The issue I'm having is with the weather & toggle widget donate and wanted to try some new clock skins, so I selected the "Market" as my choice for looking for new skins out of the weather app settings screen, but now every time I select the weather/clock widget from my app drawer it opens the Market instead of the settings for the weather & clock app.
Any suggestions/answers?
Thanks

Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Menu-Filter-All>Find the app that you have as the default action NOT the one that you use to get the option (In this case you would choose Market)>Clear Defaults. That should do it.
Hmmmm....it's grayed out JAguirre1231. Any other ideas?

Launcher pro questions...

I see several screenshots posted here from people who use Launcher pro.
I do like those screenshots and there are some handy things about it what i like.
However.... I am a bit afraid to mess up my Desire. So i have a couple of questions....
1. If I install this app Can I switch easily between Sense & launcher Pro
2. How can i Switch
3. The most important Widget from sense is the contacts Widget, is there a widget that can replace this functionality ?
4. I also the mail widgets from Sense is there a replacement for those ?
I hav a stock rom with the latest Update. I don't want to root or dos something like that. Can I have a go with LauncherPro ?
If your in bed with sense why not stay there for now and see what happens on the 23rd when we get FroYo?

Yes, you can use an app on the market called Home Switcher.

There are widgets out there... give Executive Assistant a spin
Why not just install it and see what you think... you might like it and ditch the sense stuff... which imo isn't that great!
Yes, switching is easy! You can either go through the "Manage Applications" menu (Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications), select your current launcher and tap "Clear Defaults", or go to marketplace and download "Home Switcher" which makes life really easy if you're indecisive. ;P
You're also asked which launcher to use the first time you tap the Home button when one is installed or removed. You have to tap the checkbox at the bottom to set one as the default, so one of the easiest way to try it out is to leave it unchecked, then you get prompted each time, once you've made your choice, you can just tap the checkbox.
I'm not sure about specific replacements for those widgets, but in general there are solutions. You can add contacts to your homescreen directly the same way you add widgets (Hold a blank area -> Select "Shortcut" -> "Person").

Was just sitting around looking for the same thing? Used it to have direct links to my Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings.
found a work around for this...
Things you'll need.
1. Photos of the settings widget you'd like to add to your home screen. ( You might not need this depending on what setting or settings your wanting to use.)
2. Apex launcher.
3. Desktop visualizer.
After installing both applications open desktop visualizer and proceed loading the setting image that you'd like.
Once done you'll be prompted to select an action you'd like to correspond with the image. Select other then select apex actions, should be at the top of the list.
Scroll all the way down to the S category and select settings, should read 247 options, if not your at the wrong settings.
Select your desired function and your all set.
You can uninstall both applications. This won't effect any functionality.
Hope this helps and drop me line if it does.
.....
I am looking for this and I guess my question to you sherrouse is, why do I need photos and desktop visualizer? Can't Apex Launcher add a widget for any setting I want with some stock images and just work?

Unfortunately, I don't think apex launcher can create widgets that can be utilized by Touch wiz home. However the process might work if you intend to replace T.w home with apex as you daily launcher...

You can do it from the weather setting or from the lock screen setting. Go to lock screen setting, more information, weather, enable weather on lock screen and Sview. It will only show up if you have one city selected at least or if you have weather setting by location turned on and your GPS is turned on.

Hmmm, is the widget on the home screen working? Add the weather widget on the home screen. Are you on stock ROM? Which ROM are you using? Have you installed any custom mods that changed your systemui? I can tell you that it works here without any problems.

You are very welcome
I have a similar issue, but the weather seems to only update if my gps is set to "High Accuracy". I remember in KitKat, I had it set to "Power Saving" and my weather still updated.
Besides having my GPS on "High Accuracy" if I'm indoors and my GPS is not able to lock on, my weather on my Gear 2 never updates since it's tied into Samsungs default weather application.
I'm on stock de-odex Rom. Can anyone else confirm this? Much appreciated.
P.S. Other weather apps such as Beautiful Widgets update properly, even when set to "Power Saving" so I'm guessing it's an issue with Samsungs default weather app.
What is the stock weather widget? I've installed several and nothing works. I really like the weather on my lock screen. I have the Note 5. Thanks for any help

Click zooper widget/open default weather app

Since I cant install s8 weather due to package error, but I still wanna use s8 look, and default weather application, is there any app or something that I can use to open samsung s7 stock weather app (when I click zooper widget)? When I choose click event in zooper app, there is no option to system default weather app, so is there any app which can help in this?

If i remember rightly its because the weather app does not appear in the app draw....
Unfortunately in the S7 Weather Settings there is no option to show the app in the app drawer..
The option is there in the S8 weather Settings though which kinda sucks for you in this situation since you can't install the s8 weather app.
i just found a way to make it possbile though bare with me a sec

Congrats! hope my method will still serve you in the future, you can link to any other activity with it so you can make a widget for anything if you just want to play around and test what activities are possible you can browse in the app itself and select a service and select "try" it will load that service... if you like the service it loads repeat the steps for weather just select the new service you want instead
Sample :
if you use Twitter you could use the same methods to create your own personalised widget that automatically opens twitter at the post a tweet page or facebook to go straight to posting etc

I confirmed that this same method works in KWGT also. When choosing the tap action, choose "Shortcut" and then choose the Nova Activities at the top of the list and find the Weather Forecast as described above.
