[theme chooser] how to enable on ParanoidAndroid 3.99 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I saw much screen where someusers use their N4 with themed PA.
Here we can see thread with ported PA 3.99 with working Theme Chooser:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397762
How can I enalbe this option on PA in my N4?
Sorry for my poor language
Best regards

You will have to build PA with theme chooser cherry picks yourself. Or you can try out Xposed Framework with XthemeEngine

Download the ROM here...It's a build prepared by Fabi280.. Say Thanks to him..
Here is the Thread for his PA nightlies

What is difference between original PA 3.99, and PA 3.99 made by fabi280? I installed him Rom and work fine but I would like to use original PA witch XthemeEngine. Will it work fine?

fabi280 builds are nightlies which has incremental updates as they come out. both work great though. original PA as you call it will be coming out with the update that should have theme engine back in, but soonish no eta.
you can always run the latest nightly and then dirty flash the update when it comes out, clear your cache
I was running the original but flashed fabi280's nightly on top because i couldn't wait and wanted my blackout theme back

There is dozens of this exact thread in the Nexus S forums. A few active and talking right now in this very sub forum. Its all a matter of personal opinion. Do some searches, read some reviews, flash and try and base your decision by your use cause no one uses their phone the same way with the same signals.

You seem new to roms, its probably best for you to start out with this combination:
ROM: Cyanogenmod 10 Nightlies
Kernel: Default CM10 kernel
or
ROM: Rasbeanjelly
Kernel: Trinity kernel
Also heres a popular list of roms and kernels
ROMs: CM10 Nightlies, Slimbean, Blackbean, Rasbeanjelly, Strawberry
Kernels: Marmite, Matrix, Trinity, Air
You can find all of them here.

You need to wipe everything (except sdcard) if you're moving from a different rom (PA)
Just do a nandroid/titanium backup and everything will be fine.
Here's the link to stock, rooted, deodexed 4.1.2 rom: http://d-h.st/t7o

CM10 is your best bet, other ROMs like Rasbeanjelly+Trinity is also good too but it's more likely a gimmick imo.
Definitely start out with CM10. I just recently got into flashing custom ROMs on my Nexus S (was rocking stock for a long time), and CM10 + Marmite kernel (smartassV2, cfq, 200/1000) is my preferred setup.
I've also tried my luck with Slimbean and Strawberry 4.1.2, but both of them always had little annoyances that you simply don't have to worry about with CM10. That being said, the AOSP-based ROMs like Strawberry and Slimbean do run very smoothly. I do plan on trying out AOKP, however, as it has a TON of customization options and appears to be pretty polished overall.
Slim Bean is the best rom for me, but I can customize everything so I have no problem. For most people it's better to use CM10 and the Jelly Bean 4.2 gapps.

Both the ROM and kernel can have an effect on gaming performance. Try testing out another kernel to see if anything improves.
Like I said earlier, I highly recommend Marmite for the Nexus S. It has great performance and battery life.
help
Hi, I just rooted my Nexus S (Mobilicity) the first time and I have some question here:
1. Should I just install this CM10 nightly cm-10-20121115-NIGHTLY-crespo.zip (seems to be the latest) ?
2. I found gapps 4.2 here ]highonandroid.com/android-apps/googleapps-4-2-for-android-jelly-bean-roms-gapps/, Can I use this for CM10?
3. Do I need to flash radio for CM10?

1. Yes, that's the latest nightly. Should be very stable, as far as I know.
2. DO NOT download that gapps file. The one linked in that article has the old, ugly prototype keyboard and has force closes up the anus. You can search this forum for better packages of the 4.2 Google Apps, but they are all still a little too buggy or incomplete for my tastes.
3. No need to flash a radio. CM will not overwrite your current one.

Hi guys
in my experience, the best combo is:
ROM: CodenameAndroid 3.5.0
Kernel AirKernel stable r2
the battery life is very good, there is no lag and with new ADW launcher, homescreen and drawer are very smooth

[q] [req] jwr66y + halo

Hello, I was wondering if there is a JWR66Y ROM and HALO ROM available for nexus 4. if there isn't, how can i create one?
Are there already ROMs that are rooted and deodexed stock with halo? Or do i have to build it?
Yes there are ROMs with JWR66Y + HALO. Just look for it.
PA is JSS15 + HALO using a JWR66 kernel. Other JSS roms include halo as well. Carbon has Halo.
Chances are if you're asking this question you wouldn't know how to build a ROM and incorporate halo in it. Not being offensive but building a ROM and cherry picking features you want may take awhile.. in the learning process

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for a rom based on JWR66Y, not JSS. Can you please provide a link of a rom with JWR66Y and Halo? Thanks
Can anyone tell me a rom with jwr66y and halo? is it not possible?

JSS is stock too. they're both the same thing dude. The only difference is that a ROM using a JWR kernel won't have deadlocks.

CM10.2 build 2013-09-17

I noticed that the keyboard is missing in the latest cm10.2 build. Bluetooth doesn't seem to work either but the build before that on the same cm10.2 works great!! Much smoother and faster thatn cm10 and cm10.1.
But I wonder if there is a detailed change log for the differences between the two latest 10.2 builds? Because the last one is as said defect.
Otherwise: really awesome work by quarks and all the cm devs! I've updated my defy every step from stock android 2.2 and through all of the cm:s.
Great roms! :good:

Keyboard shouldn't be missing, you might have flashed the wrong gapps. Bluetooth file transfer works, bluetooth headset for calls doesn't.
you have to flash gapps package again every time after update the cm10.2 rom

The right gapps can be found in my signature.

What Rom are you using?.

Didn't see this here, let's go!
Stock CM11s, rooted, running Franco kernel.

Also Mahdi+ Franco(optimised) primary and Mahdi + AK , PA+Franco, DroidKang as secondary.

Kind of useless without a poll.
Using CM11 nightlies.
Hello!
I use Droidkang 6.1 with Stock Kernel
Stock CM11s - Stock Kernel - Bootloader Unlocked - Unrooted
CM11S with ak on dalvik
Currently on IUNI (really nice ROM but a bit hungry when idle) but about to flash FLYUI for a few days.
What benefits does Franco kernel provide over stock? Doesn't seem to be much info on it. Thanks.
