[q] [req] jwr66y + halo - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I was wondering if there is a JWR66Y ROM and HALO ROM available for nexus 4. if there isn't, how can i create one?

Are there already ROMs that are rooted and deodexed stock with halo? Or do i have to build it?

Yes there are ROMs with JWR66Y + HALO. Just look for it.
PA is JSS15 + HALO using a JWR66 kernel. Other JSS roms include halo as well. Carbon has Halo.
Chances are if you're asking this question you wouldn't know how to build a ROM and incorporate halo in it. Not being offensive but building a ROM and cherry picking features you want may take awhile.. in the learning process

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for a rom based on JWR66Y, not JSS. Can you please provide a link of a rom with JWR66Y and Halo? Thanks

Can anyone tell me a rom with jwr66y and halo? is it not possible?

JSS is stock too. they're both the same thing dude. The only difference is that a ROM using a JWR kernel won't have deadlocks.

custom ROMs are the only way, AOKP and CM have a setting in sound that you uncheck, it's something like safe volume limit or something.
If you need to maintain a mostly stock ROM (in that all hardware works) you can try stock based ROMs like Romswell 4.0.4 (he seams to have removed it) or try a JB stock based and see if its gone.

Well PA is similar to AOKP and CM so it may have the same setting, you'll just have to look for it.

What is the most stable combination you had/have?

Hey guys. Me and my friend here (both have the N4) ave rooted and all. We wanted to install a Custom ROM with a kernel. So by far what is the most stable kernel-ROM combination you got? ROM is a 4.3 recommended and PA is also welcome (but i think it still has bugs but i can live with it). Since they're too much ROMs to try.. I was hoping I woulf do the flashing etc after my exams are over. Peace!

if you want a stable rom you should try cataclysm rom. it looks like a stock rom and there are a lot of features in it(and those feature is unique,in the sense of you can hardly find all of those feature in other roms), Simple, but quite satisfying.
But if you like to customize your phone a lot, this won't be a good choice, you should try Paranoid Android.Hit the thanks!

Thanks for the swift reply bro really appreciate it... If u could tell me another thing, please... I guess I would go with Paranoid Android's latest build. Which kernel do u recommend? Im sick of these dull/washed out colors of this screen aswell... Know any good performance kernel with that color adjuster? I know PA comes with Franco but still it would be nice if you would suggest me one

I think Franco is good. Using another kernel might make the rom unstable. And a wrong kernel could brick your phone

Dude this is a nexus. Any kernel works with any rom as long as you dont use a 4.2 kernel for 4.3 rom for example.

For me ,the best combination was on CarbonRom 1.8 Stable with Franco Kernel M3. Now I have stock 4.2.2 JDQ39E rom with Franco kernel M3 also ,and I think that performance with stock is even better.
Thanks all. I think i'm gonna take a plunge into PA really appreciate the feedback guys but still if someone can tell me what makes u have the new colors?

You can try PA by stock itself, or like me, although I like QS and Navbar with Option button, but then I still like Stock JWR with Franco's 174.
I'm using this combination to go to my 4 days trip.

Hold your horses, I thought PA works on JSS? The kernel is not compatible. The only JWR is the stock, Cataclysm and those stated in AD section but there isn't much too.

Doesnt matter as long as you dont install a jwr kernel. You can just flash a jss build over a jwr build if you want. Only if you combinate a jwr rom with a jss kernel or vice versa you will have some screen flickering.

Are you sure? Hmmm. I got experiments to conduct when I'm back.
Personally I still prefer Stock and Franco .

It's very unlikely that the ROM mentioned above is actually very stable, the first build for the nexus 4 just came out last week.
A better answer is to use CyanogenMod 10.1.2 Stable from here
Francos kernel is general pretty stable but the stock CM kernel will probably be most stable.

Okay so I think I should remain stock just for a while right? Cuz i see many roms still being unstable and all. We have XPosed framework so i might be able to do most of the stuff PA can do.. Or just go with Cataclysm rom thanks to all for ur wonderful responses i really appreciate that

Using KT as I wanted to try UC and UV but it's not smoother or anywthing

[Q] CM11 Kernel situation

Are they still going the CAF route? Or is that ending since it mainly had to do with freezes (if I recall) in 4.3?
It's going to affect my decision to go back to 10.1. I really want to have touch2wake on my kernel and these fixes to make faux and franco kernels function are starting to cause issues on 10.2.
AFAIK, these developers will not be supporting CAF =/

freezes on 4.3 was due to bug in aosp jss code, witch have been fixed in 4.3.1. so update to lastest cm.
and in 4.4 they will continue.
Yeah, I'm running the stable release of 10.2 with ziddley's franco kernel and it's causing issues here and there now. I was hoping they were going to revert back to AOSP. I guess I'll revert back to 10.1 to maintain my desired functionality for now.

Yeah, unless there's some way to get touch2wake working on 10.2; I heard you have gamma settings now with the caf kernel included so I figure I can maintain my color scheme.

try with other kernels.
On CM11 and Cm10.2 try these: 1) Modified franco and faux to work on Cm : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487246
2) AK has CM exclusive kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473454

You can always follow a tutorial to build your own cm from source code and enable module support. In that way you won't be using custom kernels, everything will be cm 100%.
I am using touchcontrol in that way, and I'm quite happy with the results.

Which Kernel for Nexus 4 with this Custom Rom?

Hello,
I have the Mahdi Custom ROM 4.4.2 on my Nexus 4.
Only I would like to have a another kernel.
It's a AOSP ROM, so which kernel I can use? Is KK also AOSP?
Can I use the Hellskernel?
You can use hellscore if you like, there's 2 versions, one for CM and one for AOSP.
