[Q] WiFi won't turn on?!?! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hey i've had my S4 since the day it came out and its worked perfectly I used to run a custom rom but ive decided to go back to stock rom. I did and apparently that was a terrible decision because now the wifi wont turn on. When i click the wifi button it goes light green for a split second then instantly back to black and it pops up with a message in the notification bar saying "The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped loading. To protect your device, it is recommended you reboot." I have rebooted several times, taken the battery out for 2 minutes, factory reset, cleared cache and dalvik, deleted all the files in data/misc/wifi and still no luck. I am rooted but this occurred before me rooting the phone. If you could help me out that would be great! Thanks.

One, what firmware where you on? MDC, MDL, MF9? Two, what rom did you install??

Flash a different kernel. Or clean wipe. Problem solved.

Search for 'nag fix', as this was discussed at length when the phone was released and rooted.

[Q] Help! 2.2 Problems and 2.1 Revert!

Hi There thismorning I flashed my i5800 that I purchased from Carphone Warehouse with the I5800XWJPF 2.2 firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940 using ODIN.
The first time I tried it all seemed to be successful, and I then proceeded to root it with SuperOneClick and began restoring my phone using titanium. Then halfway through it crashed, and with no input from me my phone rebooted. It then got stuck on the I5800 boot screen. I finally managed to get it to work be re-flashing the JPF firmware. I Then factory reset the phone (forgot to last time). Now I have finally managed to restore to my phone to how it was.. ish.
When I reboot the phone it take forever to run the Media Scanner and no widgets other that the Google search load up. Also icons are missing. Aswell as thos issues the phone runs slower than it did, and crashes often. I have fired up angry birds and it was just a juttering mess. Based on all this I decided to revert back to 2.1.. and oh oh.. can't find my firmware.
My initial firmwares were:
PDA: I5800XXJG7
Phone: I5800XXJG3
CSC:I5800XXJG5
It was rooted using z4 root and had live wallpapers enabled.
Help!
What can i do to fix this?

Okay, it seems to have now settled down after several reboots, but it seems to loose around 30% of the home screen icons upon reboot. Is this normal? And does it happen on the JPM firmware that was suggested above?

No it is not normal. Do a factory reset, flash any 2.1 rom from www.samfirmware.com and then JPM.
Peace...

I've got XWJPF and no problems. It runs very smooth. Something else is wrong.
Try flashing it to the earliest stock version of 2.1 that works, do a factory reset, then using Samsung kies, update it to the latest version available on there. Then try and reflash your choice of 2.2 rom. I had similar trouble with mine when I first started. I would recommend flashing CWM recovery as well, the samsung recovery is crap. XXJPQ seems to be available now and is getting some good reviews, fast and stable like JPF, but more up to date. Also try using SuperOneClick to root, has the best results to my knowledge. Some roms take a while to load all the app icons on boot, depending on the amount of apps you have it can sometimes take a little bit. I've found letting the phone go idle for a minute can get rid of the loadup lag. The ram gets topped out easily on the G3 if you have lots of apps that load at startup, which will severely slow the phone down.
Hope this helps!
More Problems
Okay, Now after a few restarts and crossing my fingers the icon thing has started to work, aswell as everything else clearing up. But now the app sizes are very small according to application manager, (angry birds - 2.2mb) and many third party apps reading 0bytes. Another thing is that Bluetooth refuses to work. It vibrates once when enabled, then another 3 times in quick succession and then the force close dialog appears. After clicking force close the box disappears and the phone responds again. I then manage to pai with a device but when I went to send a file, the dialog box and the vibrates appeared again and it refused to send. Any ways to fix?

Factory reset->reflash->factory reset.
Keep back ups!
All that you say is abnormal.
About your disappearing icons:
Are you using the (stock) TouchWiz launcher? If so, that has a (known) bug on 2.2 that all links to apps which were moved to sd card disappear if you unmount the card (which includes reboot). Are the apps that disappear on the sd card?
Reflash
Okay, to start with I will try the factory reset, flash, factory reset that was suggested. And by the way the disappearing apps were not on the sd card... Strange.. If this failds i will do as suggested by flashing to the earliest version, the update via Kies. I was trying to avoid this because of internet allowance..
Thanks for all the replies by the way

I'm halfway through restoring my settings via Titanium, and I keep getting the single vibrate, roughly 10 second delay, than a very fast triple vibrate, exactly the same as it did just before bluetooth crashed... Is something else wrong?
Okay, I've restored rooted and reflashed it and... ... still the same..
Titanium
Is it possible that this is caused by me restoring my phone settings from 2.1 to 2.2 through titanium?
If you need the original firmware to return it to stock pm me and ill upload it somewhere for you
I have just sent a bluetooth file! After another flash and wipe.. but havent restored or rooted. Don't think I will bother really. I now have a working phone! Thank you!
You must restore only apps. Restoring system configurations and apps data will cause problems. If I'm wrong correct me.

[Q] Screen doesn't turn on but wasn't rooted?

So i would say I have a pretty bad problem. Randomly my phone shut off, and when i tried turning it back on, the logo would show up but the screen would later be turned off and only the buttons would light up(home, back, settings, search) THIS IS THE SGH-T959 Model.
I DID NOT root my phone or anything, and the state in which it is in right now i THINK is called a "brick"? My phone randomly keeps vibrating and the buttons stay lit up, but the screen is just completely black. When turned off the battery just keeps refreshing and show a little bit of green, but it doesn't charge past that.
I followed some instructions and I think it's in recovery mode right now, what i see on my screen is Android system recover <3e>. I have the options to choose "reboot system, reinstall packages, delete all user date, delete cache data, and format internal-sd card" I tried rebooting but didn't work, neither did reinstall packages and the error tat came up was E: failed to open mnt/internal_sd/update.zip(No such file or directory). I think that is fine though because i WAS NOT trying to root my phone or anything, this problem just randomly occured. I searched and found things about people getting this problem after rooting, but i didn't try rooting it.
I don't know what to do next, I can't backup any of my content or data since my phone screen won't turn on.
I tried all the common things like taking out the battery, etc, didn't help.
I also read about reverting it back to stock, but my phone is technically already in stock, since all i did were occasional kies updates, nothing that relates to rooting it or flashing it
PLEASE HELP!!!
Does your computer recognize the vibrant when you plug it in?
nope, and when i turn on kies it tells me to connect my mobile phone
And you have data to get it off before we can consider wiping it?
Don't use kies. It will brick your phone. Happens over and over. Use Odin to go back to stock and start over whatever it was you were trying to do.
what do you mean if i have data? If you are asking if i have my data backed up then no I don't.
and I don't even remember the last time I used kies, probably because there are never any updates. And isn't it like the official way of updating your firmware?
In recovery do delete user data and wipe cache if that does not work just reinstall stock rom using odin but go to download mode first. That is pretty much everything that can be done at this point.
If after Odin you still have wired problems in most cases it means water damage and you mother board needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Gun thanks so much, I fixed it after deleting user data and wiping cache. Unfortunately the apps were deleted so it's basically a brand new phone.
THANKS A LOT once again
Was it that simple? Good for you.

Any idea where to find the JFD or JI6 stock Odin images?
All of the links turning up on XDA seem to be dead.
Just picked up this device used for the express purpose of hacking around in it, so would love to have a stock image on hand to restore when needed.

[Q] Phone restarting and can't connect

HELP! I've been using my LG G2 for around 3 months with mo problems at all. I'm rooted with Janjan's custom rom. This morning my phone froze, so i rebooted it. From then on i could not connect to my mobile network as well as Wifi networks. I can see the phone is also scanning the media files, and i cannot open any programs. The phone then restarts itself after about 20 seconds. If i turn the screen off, i cannot turn it back on.
I have already tried restoring to a backup i had on CWM, but the same thing happens.
Has anybody experienced this before? Any suggestions on what to do????
Thanks!
**Edit.
Was able to snap this pic before it rebooted on me again. The "Error" message, stays on even if i exit Settings.
Flash back to stock using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
But before you try to return to stock, make sure you completely wipe the device in CWM.

hey thanks for the reply. I've tried returning it to stock. Wiped cache and factory reset in CWM, and followed the tutorial to return to stock.
After the phone restarted, it showed stock boot animation and is totally stock now.
BUT the problem is still there. My phone continues to reset itself every 10-20 seconds, and still cannot connect to any networks.

Hmm, that is odd. Do you have a back up of the phone before you changed anything? i.e. a stock backup?
because it seem you may have wiped your EFS partition by accident.
No i don't have any backups, The only back up i had was a stable version of the ROM i was using. And it seems like when i reverted back to stock, all the files in the internal memory is erased as well.

Phone will not shut off all the way

Had my phone for a couple days and decided to root, safestrap, and flash alliance rom. Everything works great when the phone is running but I am running into an issue when I need to reboot or shut the phone down. If I use the power menu to shut down or reboot the phone screen will turn black like normal. The notification light and recent/back buttons light up like they normally do when the phone is shutting down but it just stays like that, no vibrate no sounds, Ive let it sit for 5+ min and it still stays like this. Any help would be appreciated.

There are known issues with Safestrap... Without even asking, I will venture to say you have created a rom slot and that is where you have Alliance installed.... I found out the hard way too instead of researching what I was doing before installing it. You have to install it on the STOCK slot only and not a rom slot and you will be golden. Odin back to original (drop 5 yards and punt) and go back through the whole process but install on stock slot.
3 finger salute by hard resetting could get you out of the funk.
Thanks for the help, I tried wiping the cache partition, no help. I was on the fence about flashing to the stock slot. I wonder if I can safely restore my backup to the stock slot after wiping the slot1 without bringing the issue with it.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Just deleted my rom slot, wiped the stock slot, installed a fresh copy of alliance and all is great. Everything even runs smoother. Google app and settings restore worked like it should and didn't even have to use titanium.

[Q] Please help - S4 Keeps Rebooting - VIDEO

Hello All
My Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) keeps on freezing then rebooting in an unusual way.
The problem is intermittent, it would constantly happen in certain periods and happen less frequently in other periods. At the moment, i can beerly use my phone for 1 minute before it does it again and again. And in this minute apps are just crashing. I get the pop-up messages of applications crashing. I tap ok only for the same message to instantly reappear.
Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped
Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped
The issue would happen when the phone is in sleep mode (screen turned off), while im using it, in safe mode or even when its rebooting or on the splash screen.
I am using the original battery and charger that came with the phone and never flashed or rooted my phone. I have however had to flash it couple of months ago after it bricked all by itself. I used one of the firmwares from www.samsung-updates.com

1. It seems you recovered one image of one backup with the recovery.
2. SOLUTION: Reflash the firmware through ODIN. The latest for your phone is this one: HERE.

Try to flash firmware package with the latest version of ODIN and Sammy drivers, also use the original cable that came with the phone. Often, cables that aren't Samsung genuine fail to flash firmware.
If this doesn't solve your problem, then you might try a firmware reflash with PIT file. If nothing works, your processor (or motherboard) it's likely fried. Take it to a service centre
