I just got my galaxy s4 I9505, and when I connect it to my computer and reconnects and disconnects for a few times until it reconnects permanently, also it doesn't seem to charge my phone while connected, it shows the charging status but it doesnt charge (the battery percentage goes down), tried different cable, tried innstalling kies and updating the latest drivers, tried different usb port but its all the same.
The weird thing is, with my laptop it works great (it also charges), did I get a crooked phone or is it my computer?

I've had my Galaxy S2 for 4 months now and now have a problem. When I plug the phone in, whether to USB or to the charger, it takes it a bit to recognize the phone is plugged in and to start charging. When I plug it in to USB it will charge after a minute, but I can not connect my phone to be mass storage. Windows can't detect it at all. If I disconnect the usb cable, my phone still thinks it is connected, with the notification for USB connection staying in the notification bar. In addition to this, my phone gets excessively hot regularly. I always make sure there isn't a runaway app, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Any one have any ideas?
I found a thread that describes my problem here.

I think I have solved the problem. I somehow managed to bend the USB pcb connector. I bent it back up towards the screen and everything is acting normal again. Read the link above for more information
I realise that when I use my USB port to charge my phone, when it reaches 100% charge, somehow my MTP device in Device Manager disconnects. I have to either re-plug in my USB cable, or switch to camera mode and then back to MTP on my phone in order for my device to appear once again.
Is this normal behaviour? Anyone getting this too?
My mistake, it doesn't disconnect on 100% charge. But sometimes after a while my GS4 just disappears...
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with an galaxy s4, i9505 version. For 2 days, the phone won't turn on if it's not plugged. When I hold the power button, it appears the chargin battery symbol for 2-3 seconds and then it turns back off. I am able to turn on the phone, only if I have a charger connected to it.
Also, when I connect the phone to the computer, it won't be recognised as a device. The phone notifies me that it has been docked... weird. this also happens with the wall charger. I tried different cables and chargers, but they're not the solution.
I also made a few hard-resets on the phone but with no success. It has original firmware, nothing custom.
Do you guys encountered this before? Is there any solution for the phone? Also the phone, randomly charges/ stops charging when plugged on the wall charger, but not the usb one. Do you think it's a hardware problem?
Thank you!

i would think about a malfunctioning micro usb port, maybe.
I have a really weird problem running Windows 8.1 whilst using my Galaxy S 5.
The phone, when plugged into any USB port keeps disconnecting and reconnecting like 2 times a second...
Things I've tried:
1. Different USB cables including USB 2 and USB 3.
2. Different ports.
3. Disabling 'turn off device to save power' in all USB hubs/devices through Device Manager.
4. Using 'High Performance' power mode and ensuring all 'turn off USB devices to save power' options are set to 'No'.
5. Reinstalling the Kies 3 drivers and software.
Here is a video of the issue:

Does anyone else have any ideas? This happens all the time on my laptop...
Yep, happens with mine too, and happens with my nephews S3 too
Also disabled power saving for USB etc
Seems to help if you switch between USB debugging and back again a couple times while it's connected
Is there anything like a proper fix for this? Does the problem stop on Lollipop?
tried a lot
cant connect ....
With the stock charger?
I put the S5 on my trusty 8A 5-port Anker, and immediately noticed this. If you leave the S5 alone, it will settle to constant charging at max amperage, according to Battery Monitor Widget's log.
Nevertheless, I haven't seen such before, not even with my Note 10.1 2014, which uses the same charge mode.

I've been fighting the exact same problem.
While I _believe_ there should be a software solution for this, since it wasn't always a problem, I believe it to be power related and have gone for a hardware solution.
The definitive cure for me (as of this morning) was to purchase an external *powered* USB hub.
(FWIW, an Ativa Mobil IT "Travel" 7-port USB 2.0 hub from Office Depot. And only because that was the only model where it could be tested before purchase without destroying the packaging).
Hello XDA forums, i'm having a charging problem with my galaxy s5. No matter what i do, it does not charge properly.
When plugged to a wall charger, all the phone does is to show a gray battery icon with a bolt on it on the screen, which turns off in a few seconds and repeats this every some seconds. I have tried diffrent cables, chargers, tried connecting to diffrent pcs with all the combinations possible, all chargers work on diffrent devices, just not on my phone. I have inspected the charging port close up, everything looks just fine. The battery also looks fine physically, not inflated or looking weird in any ways. I had the phone charging for the whole last night, and in the morning when i powered it up, it showed only %6 power and within seconds powered off.
I want to try to format it, to see if the problem might be caused by software issues but i also want to save up some of the data in it, like contacts and some files, i don't have backups and loosing them would be horrible. is there any way to boot up the device connected to pc and take my datas from it? What should i do? what would you recommend?
The phone is sm-g900f 32gb, it was running on android 5.0.1 ofw rooted. When the phone is plugged in to the computer in download mode, the pc recognises it and device manager shows "SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device" under USB controllers.
Thanks
