Over heating and USB problem - Galaxy S II General

I've had my Galaxy S2 for 4 months now and now have a problem. When I plug the phone in, whether to USB or to the charger, it takes it a bit to recognize the phone is plugged in and to start charging. When I plug it in to USB it will charge after a minute, but I can not connect my phone to be mass storage. Windows can't detect it at all. If I disconnect the usb cable, my phone still thinks it is connected, with the notification for USB connection staying in the notification bar. In addition to this, my phone gets excessively hot regularly. I always make sure there isn't a runaway app, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Any one have any ideas?

I found a thread that describes my problem here.

I think I have solved the problem. I somehow managed to bend the USB pcb connector. I bent it back up towards the screen and everything is acting normal again. Read the link above for more information

Charging problems - only charging over USB

Hi there,
I have a big problem with charging my Galaxy S4. It only charges with my notebook USB Port, my AC-adapter does not work.
In the battery menu I can see that AC is connected, when I plug my adapter in. But charging does not work with my device.
Over USB I can charge slowly. This isn't a software problem, I have done some resets and firmware changes since the problem.
Maybe my phone got a little bit wet earlier. Could this be the problem? Can I fix this with changing the USB port part of the hardware?

Yes, I tried another cable but had no success
I dunno if I can ask it here, but i don't charge over usb, i mean it just "hold" the power level for me. Is that normal ?
Is your AC outlet working ?
Having issue where S4 only charges with USB and vibrates when using AC charger
I've been having some issues with my S4. I did recently get it a little wet, but it's working fine in all cases except charging. I have my phone next to my bed charging every night. I noticed it was dead one morning, but I figured I didn't connect the charger properly. The next night I noticed it was vibrating every 5 seconds or so, but the phone had turned off due to a low battery. Very strange behavior.
I realized that it would start charging, but it would stop between 1-3 minutes. The the phone would vibrate and not charge.
I've ready MANY posts from others with the same issue and someone mentioned their phone charges over USB. Seemed odd, but I tried it and voila, my phone charged perfectly. I have many samsung cables, none of which work. It's definitely not the cable. I can plug a samsung cable into my phone connected to AC and it doesn't work. I pull the USB portion out of the AC charger and plug into a computer and it immediately and consistently charges. The battery holds its charge as expected, so it doesn't appear to be a battery issue.
I've tried the developer mode options - no luck.
I've tried bending the charging prong - no luck.
I've tried blowing out the charging port with compressed air - no luck.
I recently got an update pushed to my phone (Sprint), but I don't think it was happening right after the update. Seems like a likely software issue.
I did get my phone a little wet recently, actually it was my young children throwing water at me.
I've read so many posts and nobody seems to have a good answer for this issue. Any suggestions are appreciated.

[Q] USB Issue - No/Slow Charge

I have been running the Google Play Edition from Danvhd for months without much issue.
The other day I went from 06/04/2014c to 06/08/2014 and everything seemed to be fine.
However, I did notice that my device was extremely slow when charging - and in some cases, it was draining while charging.
Started to grow a little more concerned so started watching the charge indicator when it was plugged in. I would see that the lightning bolt would come and go.
If I connect it to a Win7 PC, I get the sound that a device has been connected - but the hardware wizard never starts or after a few minutes it will start but fail immediately. If I unplug the device from the PC, I get the sound it has been disconnected.
I've gently worked the cable connector and USB plug back and forth to ensure its not a loose connection there.
I've reset, wiped, and re-installed - but it hasn't resolved the issue. I am using both 3rd party and original cables/charges.
Any ideas?
I'm starting to lean toward a bad USB board, but thought I would check here before I got into that.
Thanks in advance!

did it used to charge fast?? mine was the cable.. after i got a lg g2 fast charge cable i could charge the s4 in about 40 mins.. maybe less...
It did, but not any more.
Like right now I have it hooked to my PC at work and its charging somewhat. But it'll stop periodically and might not pick up again for an hour.
It has to be the USB Flex Board.
Well, I said that and as the day has gone on - the device started charging as expected and without issue.
Only thing was when I woke up this morning the device was unresponsive (black screen) after being plugged in all night.
Took battery out and back in and booted back up with 100% charge and no issue today with any charger or cable.
So, go figure.....
Replaced the USB Flex Cable and that resolved the issue permanently.
Think it might have gotten wet at the gym.

Battery status wierdness after USB port change

Hi!
I have changed a bad USB port on my gen 1 Nexus 7.
Now the Nexus doesnt seem to recognize that it is plugged in, BUT the battery is actually charging...
The battery icon when shut of shows charging and the Icons and info in the OS shows that battery % is increasing when plugged in, but the status doesnt show as plugged in, or showing the icon with a lightning...
Hardware or software issue?
/Daniel
Okey, some additional information...
Doesnt recognize that it is connected to a PC either... Have tried a factory reset...
Using unrooted stock 4.4.4.
So,
new usb-port/audio-jack part installed
The OS doesnt recognize when and USB cable is plugged in, either for charging or PC connection
The battery DOES charge when connected, the battery indicator when the tablet is shut off shows that is is charging
Have re-checked HW connections
So, conclusion? Any ideas? hardware or software issue?
Try a different cable? Else, it's your USB port.
Yeah I have tried a couple of different cables and plugs... no change.. have a plug that gives 5V,2100mA, and the original gives 5V,2A...
I have looked at the part, and it says Rev1.2, ME370T_IO_FPC, which seems to be the one available at asusparts.eu... So that should be correct...
So, faulty replacement part, is that the most likely conclusion?
It could just be that the battery connector is loose. The method of securing the battery in these devices is weak (essentially sticky tape) and it's easy for the battery to shift such that the connector can get out of alignment. It only takes a little bit to encounter issues and it may look like it's secure when you open up the back, but then you apply a little pressure to the connector with your fingernail and you may find that there's a little give and the connection wasn't as snug as you thought.
Anyways, try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and see if that changes anything. That's all I've got, unless it's an issue with how you connected the new USB port to the main board (actually, you might want to check the ribbon connector on that too to make sure everything is lined up correctly with the main board; who knows, it might only be partially connected to the main board hence the minimal charging but no data transfer).
Edit: Upon further reflection, a loose battery would have nothing to do with the lack of ability for a PC to recognize the tablet. I would start with looking at the USB port connection to the main board and either checking to see if everything is aligned and/or properly connected, and possibly try reseating it just to be sure.
My nexus 7(2013) had the same thing wrong fix it and it power up but it seem to die out in less time

USB connect or connect

Hi,
Today my edge+ started to pop up randomly USB connector connect and USB connect or disconnect... But i dont have any cable plugged in! Already made a restart and a wipe cache. Dont want to do a Factory reset
?. Help plast
Update..it stopped charging..tried different cables and no luck..WTF!?!? Always with the official cable..no drop..nothing..really unhappy!!!
Same happened with my Galaxy S2 before. It is due to a faulty charging port. You need to get the charging changed.
I have the phone for about a month...that means..a new phone..already with faulty parts..a top of the line..a flagship one..€700...
Damn..I'm extremely disappointed
Thanks any way...
Always showing dock connector and disconnect even when I'm typing..../&#&#&##€£₩÷

USB Charging issues / Computer does not recognize while on

So this issue happened out of no where after my phone died to zero last night. I tried charging it back up but all I could get out of it was the grey charging battery but it would only stay on for 1-2 seconds shut down and reboot. Let it charging for an hour and got to about 1-2% and it would die as soon as it booted up. Factory restored to OA6 and still see the same issue. This is also the odd thing... I was able to connect it to my computer and use Oden to do the restore! After lots of troubleshooting, trying 4 chargers, I realized wireless charging still works fine. Charged it up 100% over night and wireless charging is still working fine and phone is working fine. Still cannot get USB to be recognized while on either by computer or from USB charger. With a full battery, phone off, and USB plugged in phone still flashes the grey battery icon and reboots constantly.
Only thing I can think of is I had it in my pocket after spin class for a little and moisture might have gotten in the port?
Any ideas what happened here?
Update: I ended up just buying the Nexus 6P since I'm about due for a new phone anyways.
Well just figured I would pass this along. Was bored before and looked at diagrams to fix the USB board and saw this little port in the back you can access really easy. Decided to open that up and press the connection down a little tighter (the USB board is separate from the main board). USB didn't work before doing this, then pressed it tighter plugged USB in again and it worked.
