I realise that when I use my USB port to charge my phone, when it reaches 100% charge, somehow my MTP device in Device Manager disconnects. I have to either re-plug in my USB cable, or switch to camera mode and then back to MTP on my phone in order for my device to appear once again.
Is this normal behaviour? Anyone getting this too?
My mistake, it doesn't disconnect on 100% charge. But sometimes after a while my GS4 just disappears...

Is there a connection between the hardware and the software?
My hermes (as weird as this may sound) has this problem where. if I put my charger in, and slightly move it around, it will no longer charge and pulling the charger out and back in does NOTHING
If i connect my phone to my PC via USB.. it will work, but if i want to connect it back to the regular wall charger, it won't charge until I completely shut the phone off, then turn it back on.
However, with my phone turned off... whether it's on the USB connection to PC or wall charger, i can jiggle the wire and do all sorrts of stuff and the orange charge light will stay on...
anyone know what this means?
I don't know but I'm having the same problem.
Hi all,
my 614c can be only charged when turned off.
(currently 61x_21888 beta 31 rom, but happenned on previous ROMs too)
When turned on (device booted, display active or standby), after connecting either usb cable from computer, or AC usb charger, device won't charge, LED is off.
To charge it, I must shutdown the device (usually i just remove and re-insert the battery) and connect the charger while powered off. The led turns orange, device starts charging and after few hours (i have extended battery), the led turns green and device is fully charged. Then I can boot it up and start using it until the battery drains again.
This means quite a problem for me, as I use my 614 for network access and being not able to charge while using it reduces worktime.
Has anyone observed same symptoms? Any solutions?
From my point of view, this must be some software problem, otherwise I wouldn't be able to charge it at all.
Thx in advance
Stan
Hi,
My HP 614c will not charge through the USB port.
It runs fine on the battery, but will not start without the battery installed (running on USB power only).
There are no LEDs on when the power is connected.
It will sync with the PC via the USB.
Is there an internal fuse protecting the charging circuit that can be replaced?
Any other ideas?
Thanks...
It's normal that the device won't start without a battery, even when connected to USB.
To the left of the SIM card, there's a small switch which probably detects if a battery is inserted. Maybe it's a simple as pressing this switch.
Btw, you can disable USB charging in Windows Mobile. Check the power settings.
With USB Charging disabled, it will still charge when turned off...
(Which it isn't doing...)
But Thanks.
I have experienced it before..
hard reset fixed it..
Nope, a hard reset didn't fix it...
This is definately a hardware problem...
I've had my Galaxy S2 for 4 months now and now have a problem. When I plug the phone in, whether to USB or to the charger, it takes it a bit to recognize the phone is plugged in and to start charging. When I plug it in to USB it will charge after a minute, but I can not connect my phone to be mass storage. Windows can't detect it at all. If I disconnect the usb cable, my phone still thinks it is connected, with the notification for USB connection staying in the notification bar. In addition to this, my phone gets excessively hot regularly. I always make sure there isn't a runaway app, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Any one have any ideas?
I found a thread that describes my problem here.

I think I have solved the problem. I somehow managed to bend the USB pcb connector. I bent it back up towards the screen and everything is acting normal again. Read the link above for more information
My Note 4 (N910W8) have problems with charging and connecting to pc.
Here are some observations.
1. When the phone is turned off, upon plugging the charger, it only shows the "pre battery charging" qmg, but does not go afterwards to the charging state.
2. When the phone is turned on, the phone does not indicate any signs of charging (no LED blink, no battery charging symbol).
3. When the phone is turned on and connected to the PC, the PC does not recognize the phone.
4. However, connecting a USB powered device (eg. portable mini fan, mini flashlight) to the phone allows the devices to work.
The only concern is where the source of the problem is. Is it on the battery or the usb port?
Thank you in advance,
