Hey guys, I bought a vivo tab smart about a month ago. I love the tablet, but recently started noticing a bug with the screen. Its seems as if the touch is not recognized at time. For example I'm dragging my finger across the screen and it would just stop between the line I make and start another line. I'm using it on vacation in India and it gets hot at times, maybe that's what's causing this fault. Anyone else experience this and have a solution ?
My colleague and I had similar issues with our tabs. Asus replaced the digitizer and screen as it was under warranty. After that,no issues at all. Works perfect now
Loads of people were having issues with the vivotab screen and ghost input. Some people have had several RMA's and the issue still persists. Seems to be a case of ASUS being incompetent.
Its not really ghost input but missing touches infect. My tablet began working perfectly today but as soon as I restarted the problem came back. This time only half of the screen is affected.
I have just the same problem with the ghost inputs and my tab gets very hot on the backside where the win 8 sticker is. The problem disapeared yesterday all suddenly but reappeared again today. I am not sure if it's a hardware fault which I think not so. Somehow my tab looses also too much juice and have to recharge it. I guess I return the device and get a lenovo tab

I got a moto atrix since it launched. I unlocked the bootloader and put R-9 2.3.4 custom ROM v4 about 2 months ago. Everything was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. My touchscreen suddenly became unresponsive and starts stuttering. It also starts randomly clicking without me doing anything. I have to either let the phone do its thing or restart it.
Is this my phone going bad or something to do with software?
I had some of these symptoms as well after breaking the glass, so I'm guessing it could be a broken digitizer. Not that your glass needs to be broken, but the digitizer or it's connectifiers could be faulty.
Gingerbread Problem
I had the same issues the day I updated to Gingerbread two wipes and still there I doubt its a hardware problem. Thanks
you mean this problem?

I downloaded multi touch test. When the phone starts going crazy, i was able to launch that app. Without me doing anything I saw automatic touches to the top of the screen. At one point i was seeing 5+ touches at the same time. Again i was not touching the screen, it was automatic.
+1 dying digitizer symptoms. get a replacement.
I am very surprised that the digitizer is dying so early. I have only had the phone for like 7 months. Something to say about Motorola quality.
Hi, guys
I been using my Nexus for a week or so, and so far, so good. However, i noticed that, in the right side of the screen (in portrait orientation, that is) suddenly and randomly, the screen became somewhat insensitive to touch, a bit unresponsive. The thing is that by doing a sleep mode and then awakening the device in rapid succession, this quirks goes away. Its been happening for a couple of days. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but is odd. Any theories?
Seems to be software related. Lots of people encounter this including me, but the source of the problem is unknown. Google has to come up with a fix for this problem.

This is highly covered in this forum on several different posts. It is a factory defect. My first two had the same problem. Third one was the keeper.

Hi, I want to share my experience with a Nexus 7 2013 which bought to me a friend in USA (I'm from Spain).
It is made in China, June, and it has every touch problem described here: maps rotate, multi-touch with only 2 fingers, Swype keyboard problem (the draw was continuously cut off), the screen didn't recognize my finger, and sometimes ghost pulsations.
Well, I sent the tablet to the tech support and today is back.
The report says:
Problem: Touch Screen Function Error
Replaced part: LCD + Front + GPS module
Note the Gps module replaced which I didn't referred.
Now everything is ok and screen works without problems. And all of this with the J compilation.
Clearly, my experience indicates that the Nexus problem is a hardware problem, and Asus knows perfectly the problem.
Cheers.

What I don't understand is if that was the case there would be a lot of perfect ones out there. They should call for a recall if you have a certain date of the bad batches. This is how it should be done. If you bought it from Best Buy then best buy should be getting good batches for exchange. With reciepts still. I am over my 15 days now. 2nd of all I just don't believe that this is hardware. I had a perfect screen for 15 days then this update destroyed it. HMMMMMMM doesn't make sence. It is software issues thats going on.
I think what Asus is doing is recieving your Nexus 7 and istalling the proper drivers for the screen it has in it. The next update that comes out will destroy it again and again till you get tired of this crap.

I'm happy they fixed your touch screen issue, I'm thinking about having my n7 sent to be repaired too because ts10 helped a lot but it still doesn't feel 100% fixed.
Does your nexus feel solid and one piece like it did out of the box? I'm worried about having the screen feel like it could detach if they replace it.
I would like to see people start putting pictures of the paper work for this problem. Meaning the paper they send back with your tablet saying it is a defective screen or digitizer. Then we need to do something to get a replacement. Not sending it off. Exchanges at retail stores.
I have now the Q compilation with root and unlocked, and the touch screen is ok still. I don't see anything different to the original product (when I opened the box), but I think they exchange the screen and GPS, as they told me.

Hi! Thanks for the info, i might be sending my nexus 7 for replacement too.
Could you maybe try this app to check if the touchscreen problem persists? if it's not too troublesome for you of course! :good:

RMA'd mine for touch-screen issues. Getting it on Monday, will report my experience with it then. This post makes me optimistic that it will actually be fixed

I tested it already and the screen gets crazy. But I think this app is a fake, isn't it?
Certainly, my screen now respond without any problem, similar as in my Nexus 7 2012.

Dude, read the description! It is NOT test app. It is showing (simulates) bad touch so you can compare it with your device.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Please show me the sentence which is saying that. I am reading this desciption totaly different.

hmm, since the app creator figured out how to replicate the problem by simply displaying a certain image in fullscreen, so i was wondering if a replaced touchscreen would solve the problem. but i guess not..
Thanks for your help though!

I knew it. I found something out last night. Mine works perfect if its on a hard surface like a wooden table. If I put it on my couch or lay it on any cloth type material it has dead spots on typing. Mine is in a slimline Moko case. This is tested without holding it and unplugged. Touching the screen with one finger and hand only.Type real fast on each letter and they drop out touches.Like I said it works perfect now.

Shure it would help, but exchange for another better type of screen/toch combo :/
But i think cleaning an touching ang cleaning help.. mine is a lot better than it was on a first day (with a same ROM).
Cleaning a cache in my case Cruselite TPU with antistatic cleaner helped, too I think
Butt "some jittering remins" its hard to pickup icons to move "icons"... As nexus mean i move or tap the finger..

Take your Nexus 7 out of the case and lay it on a nice wooden hard surface and retest the screen. Mine works perfect on hard surfaces only.im thinking it could be the digitizer flexing or the wireless charging coils causing the problems.
The previous video was recorded before I sent the tablet. As it is shown it worked in a terrible way. Now is something subtle, because it only fails sometimes and mainly on hard surfaces.
It is strange, before to tech support it failed each second. Now, I can be swyping several minutes and it doesn't fail, and in other moment it fails 1 out of 10 words.
I will try to update to R compilation (I have the Q) and I will tell you.
so my screen started with this crazy thing. theres a dead line on top of the screen. and touchscreen litteraly goes crazy. opens and closes apps, zooms in and out, swipes. this stops when i turn the screen of and back on, temporarely.
the phone has never been dropped or damaged in any way. just started randomly. i've tried 4.4.2, 4.2.2, custom roms, franco kernel,
flashing stock rom via fastboot fixes it,.
dead line desapears, everything goes back to normal. but when i leave it over night charging. the problem revives. i've seen this problem in youtube and google forum.. with the same deadline on the upper screen..
I Made a touchscreen text and everythiing is fine. but when the deadline appears fails
HELP!
My gf is having the exact same problem with her phone at the moment. I'm guessing that the digitizer needs to be replaced...but any other thoughts are certainly welcome.

I also disconnected battery.. no fix. right now theres no deadline. i think it could be the battery. like when you plug in with wrong charger and phone goes crazy.
right now theres no deadline. works perfectly no deadline. low battery tho:crying::crying:
Could be a grounding issue. When I use chargers that aren't probably made I'll have that problem. Try using another wall charger and another wall socket.
Well, mine it's definitely the screen. I enabled screen touches in developer options and there is a dead rectangular area across the top of the screen that doesn't register most touches...and occasionally sporadic ghost touches start erratically pressing this area not allowing me to touch elsewhere. I'll likely have to start looking at repair options.

happened to me with my previous phone lg optimus black and kind of happened with my nexus. in the previous phone i had a lot of ghost touch. they started happening one every phew days and after six month i had ghost touches every single day rendering the phone almost unusable. got it for guarantee and they changed the touch screen. the problem started again on the new digitizer with some sporadic ghost touches, on the same day! after that i bought nexus. after a while i saw ghost touches too but it's rare. for me the ghost touches happened when i was playing a game called tubing and with time happened every where. tubing is a game where a lot of quick touches is required. now that i stopped playing that game everything seems fine
a friend of mine had this problem some time ago with htc hd2. the service told him that this kind of touch technology has problems in warm weather(i live in cyprus and in the summer it gets up to 42 43 degree celcious) .

but op said it was gone with stock rom, so its not a hardware issue, tried charging via other means

THIS seems to be a grounding issue. after charging it comes back. but after a while without charging comes back.. no fix yet! i hate how google doesnt give support about this. theres a ton of people with this issue
I have this same issue, was wondering if anyone found a fix yet?
I have lost all touch sensitivity in the down part basically I can't use the Nav bars and also above the nav bars sometimes its very hard to press on things check out my video I have it here in the last part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDDOSyLLnGs&feature=gp-n-y
nexus 4 ghost touches and dead screen.
Believe it out not, the crazy ghost touch and dead screen areas are NOT the screen. It is the battery. It sounds crazy, but it is true. The bad party is, nexus 4 batteries are old. Buying a new one won't necessarily solve the problem. I would buy the brand name this party battery.I have had bad new oem batteries die to their age.
Hello guys ley me join this party of ghost
As my device is also doing same weird thing like unnecessary touch without my feedback in most of third party app, setting app and in play store it goes crazy and start clicking on any option available without my touch
But the thing which is making me frustrate that this happens only on custom kernel as I tried all with stock google factory image 5.1 and this problem arise just a few days back and I was on custom ROM with custom kernel before 5.1 update everything was fine but after 5.1 update I mean custom 5.1 ROM with custom kernel this problem arises now if I m going back to 5.0.2 custom ROM with custom kernel my device become crazy and just start clicking any option in setting app I m totally stuck with Google factory image and stock kernel
Please guys if any one has pepper solution for this ghostly touch help me so that I can enjoy custom ROM and kernel :crying:
Mouse BlueTooth (without adapter)
I found the cheapest possible solution, as the replacement digitizer is not profitable.
I bought a mouse BlueTooth (without adapter) without problems and now I can move the cursor around the screen over the entire surface.
N4 is not for me everyday device.
In my case, I bought a mouse i-Tec Bluetouch 243.
I recently got a refurbished Nexus 4 from Google beginning of April. I been having minor issues ever since getting it but i never bother to call them or get them to send me a new one since my warranty was expiring around end of April. So since last week, my phone started having these crazy erratic ghost touches lasting either a few seconds where i'd turn off my screen and it goes back to normal or it would last a good 10-15 minute non stop. I rooted it recently and i tried to do a google support. They suggested factory reset, did that. Re-image the device to original state, also did that. The problem continues and its getting a bit annoying. I noticed the problem starts a lot more frequently when the phone is hot or when the battery is below 50%. Is there anything i can do to make this go away or less frequent? Thanks
Also google suggest i call LG to get them to repair it and have my wallet raided. I prefer not to. Since i feel like they cheated me by giving me a crappy refurbished phone that has hardware issue just like the one i bought from them.
ghost touches unfortunately are not uncommon. I experienced them as well, then the lower bottom margin of the touch screen went completely dead. If you take a look at this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/q-t2810588 you'll notice there's more people on the same boat. There's not much that can be done, it's a hardware fault and probably the screen will need to be replaced.
