In creating backups + flashing .zip ROMs Im wondering which bootstrapper I need to use .
Im on GB OTA rooted.
Which bootstrapper do I need, DX or D2, and which version specifically?
Droid 2 Bootstrapper.

I recently rooted my droid x and I was wondering if I need to purchase droid 2 bootstrap recovery in order to flash a rom with rom manager? Btw im on the latest gingerbread ota update.
You will have to use Droid 2 Boostrapper.. regardless of where you find it =P

But if install a rom using rom manager will it use the droid 2 bootstrapper or will I just have to manually install the rom in recovery using the droid 2 bootstrapper? Sorry I haven't flashed on the droid x yet
Check my signature.
There is a link for a compiled bootstrap from the Droid 2 bootstrap source.
And flashing through rom manager will work as well, yes.

The boostrapper application installs the recovery so then you can use Rom Manager to flash roms. After you have used Droid 2 Bootstrapper be sure to update recovery through Rom Manager.

Also how stable is cyanogen mod on the droid x because i have it on a droid 1 but haven't really seen it on the droid x. Also i can flash cyanogen mod right from gingerbread?

It is very stable. The unofficial nightlies by RevNumbers can be flashed over Gingerbread.

Droid X and Droid 2 Bootstrappers are NOT to be used with 2nd init roms such as CyanogenMod7. 2nd init roms have built in recovery, and using one of the bootstrap apps will mess your system up to the point you will have to SBF.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA App
Well, that explains what happen to me!!
So use Droid 2 bootstrapper then after flashing use built in recovery that comes with cyanogen mod? Also does the camera on cyanogen mod work because I saw that there were some bugs. Also when I flash cyanogen mod and when another update cones out can I flash the updated one over the old one and keep my data from the previous or do I need to wipe data again? Finally when in cyanogen mod can I use Rom manager regularly without needed Droid 2 bootstrap?
Btw sorry if I have a lot of questions and thanks for taking the time to answer them

Use it to flash CyanogenMod, but afterwards dont use Droid 2 Bootstrapper AT ALL.
The camera works just fine in RevNumber's Unofficial CyanogenMod Nightlies, so flash his builds over Gingerbread.
When an update is released it can be flashed over your previous build without having to wipe, so you will keep all your data.
After you have flashed CyanogenMod Rom Manager can be used regularly with no need for Droid 2 Bootstrapper. If you use Droid 2 Bootstrapper you will screw up your phone.

Is it possible if you could link me to the latest cyanogen mod and when I checked koushes website and he gives out the Droid 2 bootstraper for free but the link doesn't work any ideas?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Links to the newest CM and a working bootstrap are in my sig.
Ok so I have flashed the cyanogen mod rom and when ever the phone is charging the led light is on is there a way to fix this? And how long do you think it will take for the light to burn out?

Sent from my DROIDX using xda app-developers app
yes magic md5 was used in video
but framaroot is faster,
rooting does not make you phone faster
but if phone is rooted you can make changes that will help make phone faster, like flashing a rom, or overclocking

No. Rooting does nothing more than give you superuser access.
But once you have su access then you will be able to tweak your phone with a custom rom, remove bloatware. Root gives you the ability to dl applications like Titanium Backup and remove (not recommended) or freeze bloatware and unwanted apps, hence making your phone faster. It will give you the ability to install a custom kernel and THAT will give you the ability to overclock your cpu and that literally will make your cpu speed faster theoretically making said phone faster.
No matter what anyone tells you, root in itself does nothing more than give you SuperUser access.

no, some newer moto devices got a hack to unlock bootloader, but nothing with a omap like D2,DX, D3...
locked and encrypted bootloader on several popular Motorola phones has been exploited, ...not OMAP powered phones

droid X has a TI OMAP3630 - 1000
Uncertain`
Hi:
I'm totally new to this, so i apologize in advance if I'm posting int he wrong place. I've looked everywhere and can't find what I need. I have a factory reset Verizon Droid X 2.3.6 621. My first foray into this stuff was rooting my Kindle Fire first gen. That went really well, so now I'm going to try this. What I want to do is, in no particular order, since I don't know what to do first, is: I've already done the factory reset. Now I need to either flash my droid to cricket or have it done, root it, and install some custom roms. I've noticed the T-mobile one that came out yesterday, I'm downloading it now.
Anyway, is there anyone willing to kind of dumb this down for me? Like a step by step kind of thing. I'm familiar enough with the terminology to understand what a bootloader is, but when I rooted my kindle i just connected it to my pc, and ran some programs. This seems a lot more complicated. I also know that I want it to run as fast as possible, isn;t that overclocking? Heard the term, have absolutely no idea how to do it. I am pretty technology savvfy, and very good at following directions. So any help will be greatly appreciated! And do I come back here to see if I get any responses? Oh, and I know this sounds like such a girl thing to say, but since I am one I'll say it. I like being able to customize my launcher, the pretty stuff works for me. I'm running ICE on my kindle with go launcher ex. I really want to try one of the MIUI roms, but every one I've flashed has gotten me stuck in a boot loop, don't know why. So if anyone knows of a stable MIUI for Kindle fire first gen, I would love to hear about.
Thanks everyone!
DebraK

I've tried so many different methods to root (gingerbreak, z4root, DooMLoRD's toolkit, superoneclick v 1.7 and 2.3.3, as well as Pete's motorola root tools) and none of which work. I'm on android version 2.3.4 system version 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US. I'm trying to install bootstrap recovery and then instal cm9. Any ideas? P.s. I am completely stock.
