Cannot Obtain Root on Droid X - Droid X General

I've tried so many different methods to root (gingerbreak, z4root, DooMLoRD's toolkit, superoneclick v 1.7 and 2.3.3, as well as Pete's motorola root tools) and none of which work. I'm on android version 2.3.4 system version 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US. I'm trying to install bootstrap recovery and then instal cm9. Any ideas? P.s. I am completely stock.

Root help

When I had froyo, my x was rooted with z4root. Used this because Im not sure how to root the old fashioned way. is there any way I can 1-click root my x now that it has gingerbread? Tried gingerbreak with no luck.

If you took the OTA update then you can't root it. The only way is to sbf back to froyo and install P3DROID 2 part pre rooted gb

OTA Gingerbread can't be rooted using methods such as z4root and Gingerbreak.
To root Gingerbread you must SBF back to .340 and flash a prerooted version of Gingerbread.
If I can find the thread at My Droid World be containing the file and the instructions I will PM the link to you.

[Q] Accidently upgraded to 2.2.1 after being rooted. Stuck please help

Hi,
I had my droid X rooted and then did accepted the update to 2.2.1 before realizing this would cause issues. I'm now stuck at 2.2.1 and cannot update past that or downgrade or do anything. My phone still things its rooted but doesn't give me super user status. But programs identify it as rooted. I do have droid x bootstrapper on it however being an idiot I did not create a back up. Can anyone give me some guidance on how to fix this? I don't care if it is rooted anymore I'd just like to have it working properly.
thanks in advance for any advice,
Jeff
I'd use rsd lite and sbf using the sbf file for system version .340....check the stickies for guides on how to do that

I SBFed to .340 and can't get the .602 or .605 update. I think as they just started rolling out the 13mb .605 update they suspend the others for bandwidth purposes-my theory at least.

You have to manually remove Superuser.apk from /system/app/ before you can root again.

when you say 'latest gingerbread' do you mean 2.3.5?
i have a rooted x on 2.2.2, and i want to apply the 2.3.5 update, but i am scared that it will break my root, if i understand correctly i can apply the update then adb shell to remove su and superuser then re-root using pete's? is that correct?
i rooted originally with superoneclick 1.9.1

Odd, I haven't come across an unrootable build for the Droid X.
Also, are you sure 2.3.5 is correct the latest version of Gingerbread for a stock Droid X is 2.3.3.

Does rooting Droid 2 on Stock 2.3.4 (621) fix sbf flashing?

So I know that the OTA update 2.3.4 (621) made flashing sbfs impossible due to it leading to a bricked phone, but if you use the new root method and successfully root the D2, does it fix this and make it possible to flash sbfs? For those who don't know, this is the new root method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773391
I don't think I can post links yet so just copy paste that into your search bar, or a higher ranked user post the link.
You can still flash sbfs you just can't downgrade thanks to the new bootloader

you are stuck with 621, and can only flash 621 sbf

If there is ever another update (highly doubt there ever will be) he/she could sbf that one too

[Q] [SOLVED] Droid X cyanogenmod stuck on Motorola logo

I have a Droid X, I'm trying to get cyanogenmod installed on it.
It's been rooted via Framaroot's Gimli exploit, and I've used Droid X Bootstrap Recovery to install clockworkmod.
Next, I rebooted into clockworkmod, wiped the cache, Dalvik cache, did a factory reset, and installed cyanogenmod.
I then rebooted.
The phone hangs on the red M, I've left it there for hours with no luck.
I can SBF to revert to an unmodified state, and that gets my phone working again, but I would really like cyanogenmod...
I've tried flashing the Milestone X, then doing the root-bootstrap-wipe-install process several times, but with no luck. Every time, cyanogenmod just hangs on the red M and I have to re-SBF.
The thread here is the closest thing I could find, but it concerned the Droid X2, and nobody had any luck with that, either.
Hey man, it's been awhile since I've done anything on my DROID X but I'll try to help out. Let me make sure I understand what is going on. When you SBF back to an unmodified state, it works fine? Then, when you try to flash cyanogenmod again, it hangs up? Is that right?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4
Yes, that's correct.
So the problem is not "I can't get my phone back to a functioning state," it's "I can't get cyanogenmod into a functioning state."

official cm7 is built for froyo kernel only
what carrier?
what system version?
try pooka's cm7 link in my list
sd_shadow's [Collection] of Links for: Droid X (MB810)
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk 2
I've worked with the droid x (shadow) pretty extensively. If you have a red "M" you are on a gingerbread kernel. The official CM7 builds are not compatible (froyo based). Like sd_shadow said, running the pooka build is probably your best option, it's been updated to work with the "red M gb kernel", and it has a couple of other fixes for camera/flash/gps/battery life included as well. It is important to know which build you're on though, the .621 made things more interesting...
It's unactivated, but I think the carrier is Verizon.
The system version was the .621, but after cyanogenmod wouldn't boot and I had to SBF, I used the Milestone X firmware to recover, so it looks like it's running the 604 firmware now.

as long as you are not using a carrier other than verizon, it's ok
the milestone sbf was only needed when 621 was unrootable
but you also need the 621 kernel and wifi libs or you may have issues.
I suggest
flash the 621 sbf using rsd lite or the 621 ezSBF
Using RSD Lite to flash a .SBF to restore (Stock Rom) on Droid X (Shadow-MB810)
or

then root with framaroot ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click application to root / youtube video
I have verified it works with these Motorola devices running android 2.3.4

Thanks.
I'll need to do a factory reset and wipe the Dalvik Cache, right?
Sent from my Droid X using xda premium
I recommend always wiping data before and/or after flashing sbf, although if flashing same version may not be necessary.
You should always wipe data before and/or after flashing a rom , unless you are installing a minor update.
the cache is wiped with the data, but it is generally recommended that you wipe cache, I don't worry about it if I wiped data.
Wiping the dalvik should not be necessary with most roms, wiping it will not hurt, but will add time to first boot.
