I have a new ATT Galaxy S4, running the newest operating system. I have 4 email accounts set up. when I reboot the phone, all the email accounts I had set up, except for one, DISAPPEAR!
They are pop3 accounts. One is go-daddy and three are verizon.
I then have to go back into the email, re-setup the email accounts, then they work fine, but if I reboot the phone, they disappear again.
I am NOT doing a hard reset, just the reset option you are given when you hold down the power button.
anyone have any ideas why this happens? and only when i reboot the phone.
No do not respond by saying "don't reboot your phone".
The phone was running sluggishly, so I rebooted to free up the memory.
Thanks for your input in advance for those who might have answers.
Samsung Galaxy S4 - Email Accounts Disappear
I have been experiencing the same issue as well. It's extremely frustrating. I have three e-mail accounts configured within the stock e-mail client: An Exchange account (for work), a Gmail account and a Hotmail account. I have also tried configuring only the Exchange account (to see if multiple addresses was causing the problem) but the same issue persists.
Description of Issue:
So basically, the problem is that every so often, when I press the e-mail button, all of my accounts are missing and I am prompted to Set up an e-mail address (as if it's the first time I've ever pressed the e-mail icon).
I've owned the s4 for about a month and my e-mail accounts have "disappeared" 6 or 7 times. Every time, I have to set up my email accounts again like it's the first time. Additionally, my "disappearing email account" problem is not limited to reboots. If the phone is acting sluggish for any reason, I'm probably about to lose all of my e-mail accounts again.
PS - I don't want to use an alternate e-mail client. I like the stock app, but this is a major bug that I need to sort through.
Advice is appreciated!
Same issue with my Galaxy S4 from ATT. Anyone know of a fix for this?

Is there anyone who doesnot have ...ir pop3 accounts)? And which ROM do you have?
I use POP3 but I never have more than 15 emails at any time as I clear them out. I use an Exec with the latest O2 ROM. There are two possibilities I think for this problem. I noticed that if I reset after a freeze when downloading emails over GPRS/UMTS (problem with previous ROM) and I had to reset I would lose the emails I downloaded. This is because they were not written back from the cache. Now I am wondering if email account information is also in the cache, which means you could lose emails and account information. Also if there is a problem with the cache and emails, large email accounts in situations where you have low RAM may cause a memory problem - just a thought.
I have lots of messaging accounts (SMS, MMS, Activesync, POP3, Gmail, Hotmail), all of which are triggered and used daily. But I am ruthless with email, read, respond, delete. Or I forward them to my home email account to be kept on the laptop. I also only retrieve 5kb of all messages, and choose which ones I need more of.
Never had a problem, never lost (except mms and used patch to fix). Occassionally hotmail drops off, but sign in to messenger and it comes back.

lost email accounts and "No GSM"? Then get a repla
I think I find out why my email accounts disappear: see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35196
I have the same things ("No GSM" after soft reset and then no IMEI, email accounts lost, etc). So its is a hardware problem. I will get a replacement for my Universal (MDA Pro).
Hi all
I am using my TyTN to check email over WiFi, which is very convenient. However, after setting up the first 4 POP3 accounts it doesn't seem to allow me to set up any more
It doesn't actually give an error message - it just ignores my requests! I have (soft) reset the device several times and tried again, but no change.
Has anyone else tried to set up more than 4 POP3 addresses?
Otherwise very much enjoying my TyTN
Granted I'm using a different ROM than you, but I've got 5 POP accounts in addition to the activesync, mms, and text message boxes. I just tried adding a sixth and ran into no problems.
Cheers
Not sure what to do then. I deleted one of the POP3 accounts, and it was happy to let me add a new fourth account - IMAP or POP3.
Once I was back up to 4 accounts again it ignores any further attempt to create a new account.
Any ideas anyone?
Ed
profimail would be good alternative if you dont use push email
I get the same behaviour on my Tytn.
I have SMS,MMS plus 4 POP3 accounts, and any attempt to add an account is simply ignored.
Does it have to do with updating the push mail ?
My Leo decided to have a 'brain fart' and stopped connecting to the Internet yesterday and also both off my POP3 email accounts disappeared. The two 'tabs' for the accounts were still on sense email but if i clicked on it it went to my hotmail account. If i flicked through the accounts i only have hotmail and outlook.
Today i realized it wasn't my services provider so i messed around some more and re-set up my data settings so i can no go back on to the Internet but i still have my two email accounts missing, anyone had this before and can help?

Solution found, here it is in case somebody else has trouble.
On the email tab in sense, press the 'Menu' softkey and press the option for Account setting. You can see your lost accounts here, you need to (or i did anyway) re-enter most of your settings including incoming, out going server details and password...
I experienced this yesterday.
I've allso lost my Google Maps login data.
Am sure this is a cooincidence, but mine did the same thing, on the same day...

The program provided automatically performed the action you described above
Yeah, I lost my google mail account too and had to put in my details again.
Hi,
I have encountered this problem twice. My mail accounts were working fine (able to send/receive and read mails).
Then when I restart my phone, my mail accounts went missing. That is, there is no accounts configured but the HTC Sense tab still shows the emails I have received. Able to scroll up and down through the mails but when I click on them to launch the mail app, it shows me the setup account screen.
Anyone encountered this problem as well?
2 options I am looking for help on:
1. To somehow be able to restore the account back
2. To remove the orphaned account info so that it will not reflect on the HTC Sense, and I will re-create the accounts
known problem, do a search.
Noway to solve it apparently, only to limit the damage by creating a provision XML to restore the accounts quickly after they go away.
I think that making sure all programs are closed before doing a soft reset or turning off the device should help

I had never had this happen before until recently. The last change I made is to installed Radio 2.10.50.28_2 and it has since happened twice.
I just had this same thing happen on my HD2 about 2 days ago. i am running the stock 2.10.153.1 TMO US rom.
To fix it I had to go into the email setup under sense, delete the account, then add it again and this reconfigured the account for sense and the windows Messaging program.
Known issue. In case the mail account(s) don't appear under the winmo mail options, you can use the free app from below link to gain access and recover the account(s) by re-entering the missing details, and you should be good to go again.
www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-mail-account-repair.html
another fix that works for me, is to go to the manila mail tab --> menu --> account settings and fill in any missing information.
I've just re-flashed and totally rebuilt my HD2 because my e-mail (both Hotmail and regular POP/SMTP) totally stopped syncing. Now that I've rebuilt the phone, everything seems back to normal for now, but I've got an annoying issue when my e-mail syncs: Everytime it syncs in the background, it displays my Inbox on the screen! So, I'll often bring the phone out of standby and find my Inbox on there. Or, I'll be doing something else on the phone and, suddenly, my Inbox will appear out of nowhere. Very irritating.
In addition to the above, the HD2 regularly 'forgets' my sign-on credentials to Windows Live and prompts me to enter them again when it tries to sync. This is despite using 'Save password'.
Anyone else experience this? Any fix?
Thanks.
Check your date. I once had this issue with an incorrect date. If the date is set to the future and you have email set to sync "last x days", it won't get mail from the future.
Thanks, but date is correct and I have my mail set to sync items as they arrive.
