[Q] Problem with samsung KIES and HUB - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I bought my Galaxy S4 9505 about a month ago, everything was great, I later decided to flash a custom ROM.
Something went wrong and i soft bricked my device, I was able to flash the stock ROM later and fix it.
however, I recently found out the after flashing the stock ROM, samsung KIES no longer recognizes my device.
I have installed the device's drivers, and KIES have identified it before I flashed it.
In addition, whenever I try to use samsung HUB, the app crashes immideatly giving an error message: "Mandatory Parameter Not Found (1101)"
Searching for the error, only one result came up where someone flashed his ROM using mobile odin, and it got fixed by reflashing with odin for windows.
Unfortunatly, this is not the case, I originally flashed it with windows odin, and even tried to flash it again, but still the same result.
If anyone can help me that would be great.
Thank you

Did you do a data factory reset after flashing the stock rom in settings/accounts/backup and restore/reset.

In what country do you live and which rom did you install? Strange, i would advice to reflash the rom and perform a data factory reset afterwards. Have no further ideas atm. Good luck

I live in Israel and bought the phone in israel.
I looked in samfirmware (dot) com
and it seems like there isn't really an Israel firmware, it also says the one I have is of Ireland's
I can guarentee that I9505XXUAMDI was the firmware installed before and after the flashing

Aah i see, you probably don`t have the correct software from the country/region where the phone originated from. You have to find the country where the phone was initialy sold. Look here and typein your imei number http://sndeep.info/en.

Contacting the reseller about it will probably lead to voiding my warranty if I explain why I need to know, or refusing to answer if I don't explain why.
I can try to check out the firmware of some other S4 I9505 of people I know in Israel, hoping it will lead to something.
I still find it very hard to believe that even if the reseller told me where the phone was originally sold, it would turn out to be something different than Ireland.
I can guarentee that I9505XXUAMDI was the version I had before flashing, and I don't see how it could be unless it originated there.

OK, luckily, I still had a CWM recovery from before flashing the new firmware, i restored the backup, and now I know my CSC, my KIES work and samsung HUB as well.
However I now have CWM, and I wish to remove it, from what I know, only by flashing the stock firmware I will be able to remove CWM.
If I flash the firmware I thought was the correct one, I will return to the point where KIES isn't working for me again.
with this info:
PDA: I9505XXUAMDI
CSC: I9505TSIAMD8
which firmware should I flash?

ok, but i already have the newest N9005XXUBMJ3 firmware, but this gives me now a lot of problems, it tried yesterday the N9005XXUBMJ1 firmware for downgrading with ODIN3 , but that gives me only errors. so it looks i,m stock with this !
I would go into the android system recovery by holding volume up+home button+power button at the same time.
From there go to "wipe data/factory reset" and select yes.
After that select "reboot system now."
Once it's in go to settings/general/backup and reset. Choose to factory data reset.
That's assuming you are using a factory firmware and have backed up your important stuff. If that fails it could be a hardware problem which in that case, contact your local Samsung.
i already tried, but still the same.
the wierd thing is, that before the firmware update i had no trouble at all, so it has to be the new firmware !
i,m now downloading the MJ1 firmware, i will try to downgrade again ( hope it works )
if you are on N9005XXUBMJ3 you cannot backflash to N9005XXUBMJ1 because N9005XXUBMJ3 has a new bootloader with it and is not compatible with N9005XXUBMJ1

I don't know for sure, but im on MJ3 also and have no problems at all, i have rooted with de_la_vega and installed Wanam framework and used TiBackup to remove a sh*tload of crapware samsung provided and still running strong. so maybe there went something wrong with your flash that causes the reboots, or maybe a faulty app.

Yes, but no one here seems to have the same problem, it is probably some problem app you have, or some settings that the system did not like.
You probably could have gotten a malware causing memory overloads, forcing a reboot, you never know. Wiping to factory is Step 1 at any time your phone is at a time like this.

GT-i9505 does not support initialization

Noob question ahead!
I have International Galaxy S4 i9505 and I’m currently on rooted stock rom “i9505vjuemj6″ (zto) brazil android 4.3. I can not update OTA because of “modified device issue” and also can not update via Kies it says “GT-i9505 does not support initialization”.
Can I download “I9505VJUEMKE_I9505DGTEMKE_DGT” venezuela android 4.3 and flash it using odin to fix everything above?
- If not, which latest stock ROM do you recommend to install?
- Any description for this? “GT-i9505 does not support initialization”.
For install updates for android 4.3 u only need Kies 3, no Kies. I recommend u install the updates only with Kies 3 or via OTA. Flashing other firmwares that dont marry with ur region code is create more problems :highfive:

Will do and get back to you as soon as i get another firware on, have also contacted Samsung and the'ry look into it too. but cheers if you can help. i'm just mucking around with other options as well at moment. i understand some forums say you cannot roll back the firmware from 4.4.2 to 4.2. I am having the screen rotation problem with the new 4.4.2 so i'm trying to find a way to roll back the FW and one way might be to install a custom rom with old bootloader that is also knox free via CWM install zip function to replace the new 4.4.2 bootloader with an old one. This may then allow me to roll back the firmware to an older version and kill my screen rotation problems.

Pretty sure once you root your phone you can no longer use OTA or Kies, as you now have custom status.
Having said that I've not used kies once since I bought my S4 on April 27th and I change firmware like crazy.
Just use Odin. 9 times out of 10 any problem you have can be fixed by reflash and factory reset.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium HD app
you can use on any modified phone
If Kies lets you initialise the firmware with model and serial no. to the base version for your region for that phone then it will overwrite anything. However in the I9505 case it will not even let you initialise the firmware. Have called Samsung and they confirm they know this is the case but it is not something they will do anything about.

OK so is this what you were asking for?
Screen rotation a real prob, but all my sensors show pass via *#0*# sensor checks. Tried nordic i9505 I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_I9505XXUFNB9_HOME.tar 4.4.2, then SIngapore I9505XXUFNBE_I9505OLBFNB3_I9505XXUFNBE_HOME.tar 4.4.2 all the fken same problem. Screen rotation all fine when I flash firmware, root, then flash CWM touch - everything good. Screen rotate works until the first reboot after all of this which might even be a day or 2 later. As soon as reboot phone, screen rotation dies and it is a huge pain in the arse. Sensors continue to say pass via *#0*#. Every few days i have to re-flash firmware, re-root, then re-CWM touch, no need to factory reset just those 3 steps.:crying::crying:and is why i'm trying to figure out whatever methods i can to roll back the firmware to an earlier version but no joy....

Yea, it came locked in Vodafone, I unlocked it at a nearby GSM service. I'll take it there to see what the heck it's happening since I can't solve it myself. Thank you all for the support.
Try this...
Find the PIT file for branded phones (branded = carrier roms such as vodfona, etc)
Get SamFirm and download a branded 5.0.1 BOL3 rom, it'll download it in 4 tar.md5 files rather then one. Make sure it's a vodafone rom, it may be a csc issue.
Good luck...

Wifi greyed-out after lollipop update on SM-9005

Hi guys
I have run into little problem that I'm hoping learned members here can help me with.
I have a Note 3 SM-9005 that was running Kitkat 4.4.2 and I got it updated to 5.0 from a mobile repair guy. Everything looked smooth until I got home and noticed that now the WiFi does not work anymore. It always stays greyed out and never turns on.
I have tried turning on download booster, smartswitch, nothing helps. I have wiped cache, wipe data / factory reset but that's of no help.
Can you please help me get my WiFi working again.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Would it be compatible with my phone which has a UAE version installed currently?
Ok just checked. It looks to be the Phillipines/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand version. With some of them branded. Not sure which one I should be picking up?
The stock ROM may be slightly different for each country but you can try the latest Singapore version.

Will it trip Knox? As I would be putting a SIN firmware on a XSI (UAE) handset?
Flashing a stock rom will not trip Knox.
Personally, unless there is warranty left on the phone, I wouldn't worry about tripping the Knox counter.

I have also just noticed that the WiFi hotspot (tethering) doesn't work either.
I downloaded the latest XSI (UAE) firmware and installed it using Odin. But the problem still persists.
Should I try downloading and installing a Singapore firmware?
Is there a possibility that this phone is actually a carrier branded phone and was later debranded and that's why it's having this problem?
Please help life is difficult without Wifi
Does Bluetooth work? It's possible that the phone has a defective wifi chip. I have two galaxy s4 phones that have dead wifi chips but everything else works.
You can try flashinga another country's firmware but not sure if that will help.
Do you have a backup of the efs folder?

Yes the bluetooth works.
The phone's WiFi was working fine before being updated to Lollipop.
No I got it updated from a phone repair guy before I got my hands dirty and put the new firmware my self. So no efs folder backup, unfortunately.
Hmm without knowing what the repair person did to the phone or how the update was performed, it's possible something went wrong during the flash process. Does the phone show the correct imei and MAC address?

He did it in front of me and from memory I can tell that he took a firmware file and used a software (probably Odin) to flash it in download mode.
The phone does show the correct IMEI as written under the battery spot and in device info does show a WiFi mac addresd however I'm unsure how to verify if that may be the correct one.
I have browsed Google and found few other people's posts on different forums who have this exact same problem. Someone suggested that I should reflash the firmware with bootloader checked using Odin.
Do you think it may be of help?
I have just discovered that the serial number on the back of the phone under battery is different from what is reported by the device.
Does this give any hint to what may be the issue?

First of all relax.
I would try the updato link. Flash the firmware.
1. Check if provider service works.
If it works then
2. Check if your camera works.
If yes modem and camera works it is a good stock for you.
Maybe you can try and post the results. Don't worry. There are lots of people who want to help.

I would make a clean flash.
News:
I've flashed all two firmwares, but no one show me benefits, i have another s3 neo motherboard with charger defect (all chargers make the phone lag and reboot sometimes) and all firmwares work well with reception.
I've followed these steps:
1) boot intwrp and wipe all
2) boot in download
3) flash (I9301IXXUANI1_I9301IITVANJ1_I9301IXXUANI2_HOME.tar.md5)
4) reboot
5) same very bad signal
other firmware:
1) boot in stock recovery and wipe
2) boot in download mode
3) flash (I9301IXCUAPH1_I9301IITVAOL1_I9301IXXUAPG1_HOME.tar.md5)
4) reboot
5) same very bad singal
I'm starting to think that this could be an hardware problem
Edit:
checked if my imei was bad for some reason, but is clean.
