If you are using an app like root explorer or even es file explorer with root options enabled you have to make sure your system is mounted R/W before you can make changes.

Hi all,
Before I install this ROM, I wanted to ask this. I have my Nexus 7 with 320 MEGABYTES of space remaining! This is because of a backup I made in TWRP recovery. I wanted to delete it, so I go on and delete it in ES File Explorer. Error: File cannot be deleted. Uh, Ok, I will mount it to my computer. I deleted it, it seemed to delete, but, it was still there. All these files that I thought I had deleted before were also there! WTF! (I backed up my backup so I am safe with wiping it with a new rom.)
I was wondering if suddenly changing from managing the files on its own or in Mac OS X to using Windows Explorer in Windows 7 would change anything. Please, help me

In ES file explorer change the file or folders permissions from read only to read/write.
I would buy root explorer, there's a huge button up top that toggls between read only and read/write

Hello,
i9500, Stock MJ8, rooted
I just updated to 4.3 MJ8 and want to get rid of some additional system apps.
I run into 2 problems:
1) If I use ES file explorer (Root enabled), I can access the files, but the delete operation fails because "read-only file system", although I can see that read and write is enabled for root. Permissions for the folder are "rwx r-x r-x", the file permissions are "rw- r-- r--". Actually, it shows me that I have read and write permissions on both folder and file but I have no idea how to change them, if necessary.
2) Instead, if I want to delete those system apps with Titanium Backup Pro, I (or better TitaniumBackup) simply does not find them. One example is the system app "InteractiveTutorial.apk". If i enable all filter criteria, TB just does not display, although I can see that it is in the /system/app- folder. This is valid for many other system apps. A support question to TB was not answered.
I checked the search within XDA, but I either get 2900 results or none. TB-website and EStrongs website also didnt help me.
Does anybody of you have a helping hand for me, please?
Kind regards
Your going to need root explorer for that

I know. But root explorer is better and easier when it comes to deleting system apps. I don't think u can delete system apps from es file explorer.

Used another explorer and succeeded. Strange thing: It worked with the old version of ES file explorer but not with the newer 3.x.
Thanks for your help, guys.

A HA!
I downloaded FILE COMMANDER which allows you to grant superuser with root. There we go, got it deleted.

You can do the same with ES File Explorer. You go to it's settings and enable root access, or something like that.
So I rooted by Galaxy S5 SM-G900V running 4.4.4. (please be specific, Im new to this). My device is ALREADY rooted and 100% confirmed, as I used root checker.
And now everytime I open gallery or do certain things, It tells me "Unfortunately, Context Service has stopped working."
I read on a thread you can Rename or replace the ContextService.apk file located under /system/priv-app to fix it, So where do I get a non corrupt copy? And how do I access the /system/priv-app area? Connect to a pc?
Also, wouldnt replacing with a non corrupt version be more important that renaming it and no longer working? Do we not need it?
update
So I downloaded Root Explorer app to find that "/system/priv-app area" and nothing. I can not find any "system" file or Priv-app area.
Thanks
You need to root your device. For file explorer try ES File Explorer for root browsing.
already rooted
