Storage not showing up - Nexus 7 (2013) General

So i just rooted my device and installed Root Explorer. I plugged in my OTG cabel with the 32gb fat32 card attached. I can not find it in Root Exploerer. I plugged it into my galaxy nexus phone and found it under Storage (the memory card shows up inside). The Storage folder shows up on my Nexus 7, but it doesnt show the memory card inside.
Any suggestions?

Have you installed StickMount?

It has to be mounted as I found out last night. I mounted a 750gb HDD and it found all my videos and pics. Pretty cool.

I have Nexus Media Importer and it shows up there. On my phone, inside the Storage folder i see a folde called usbdisk, which is the attached memory card. This same folder does not show up on the nexus 7

I installed stickmount and mounted the drive, but still dont see anything

can't access SD card from mass storage!

Hey guys,
i connect my SGS to mass storage (i'm running JP3 btw) and i can see the internal SD and external 16GB SD i have on my laptop, but when i try to copy something over it says 'error cannot read/write because card is protected'
how can i R/W and turn that off?
thanks!
same for me, sine jp2 and jp3 I cannot write to my external sd card :-(
you have to go to the notification bar and click on the USB connection and a message will pop up asking you to "mount", just click on mount.
Install this widget called 'USB Switcher'
put it on your homescreen and connect a USB cable
Touch the widget and now your phone storage is mounted on your computer
If still can't detect the external storage.
try this:
1.power off
2.take out your sd card
3.reformat your sd card via card reader
4.put in your sd card again
5.start the phone
6.connect USB cable
7.Use the widget above
external sd seems to be a bug for half of us, so strange, all was fine until jp2 and jp3, and the above did not work, usb switch getting FC all the time and should not have to do this should just work as before by mounting it, but ever since jp2 I get the android pic and it mounts ok but will not let me copy/place new files into external, no permission/protection is on......guess have to try jp4
Hmmm yeah no need to go to the notification bar in JP3 cause the android screen pops up asking if you want to turn on usb storage. It must be a problem with JP3 :-(

Using firmware XJG4 version, I managed to access SD card (16 G internal & 8G external from mass storage using 'USB Switcher'
My steps are:
1. Run 'USB Switcher' to unmount SD storage
2. Connect with USB to PC
3. Select mass storage option when prompt
3. Go to PC, 2 drive appears and are accessible.
To confirm the SD cards are unmounted from step 1, run file manager and the SD file directory is empty.

[Q] Recognizing micro sd card

Hey gang. Ever since I got my A500 I added an additional micro sd card, which when I check the storage settings it shows the correct GB os storage, but I can't get anything stored on my external micro sd. I also tried to use a USB Seagate Freeagent Go and It doesn't recognize it at all??
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
Paul Clay
How are you trying to transfer data to the external_sd and how is the Seagate drive formatted?

grab file manager HD from the market, free
browse to /mnt/external_sd for addin SD card
browse to /mnt/usb_storage to see usb attached storage device
create a shortcut to and copy/move files to it as you see fit, also can add cifs file shares from your pc's setup usinf the LAN option.....
You may also use NTFS Mount app to make an external HDD visible in Android. Just plug the device to USB and fire up the mentioned app. After that you may launch any explorer and see an additional folder in root directory containing all the information your HDD has. Search the forums.

[Q] usb sd card mounting

man i must sound like a real noob but how in the hell can you transfer files from a sd card or usb drive to the iconia they both show in applications tried drive mount they wont mount tried es file explorer see usb drive and sd storage when i open them there isnt anything in them i have clockwork installed and rooted with iconia root i can install other roms if i put sd card in a card reader to tranfer files wont even see in my computer i see storage but nothing in there either any help is appreciated driving me nuts only in xoom rom can i see storage on computer actually shows 2 drives
In file managers you'll find them under /mnt/ The sd is actually under "external_sd" and the usb is something similar like "usb_drive"
If you have been saving things so far they are most likely in the internal storage which is actually mounted as if it's an internal sd card (/sdcard/ or /mnt/internal_sd i think).

Micro SD doesn't mount correctly

Hello. There is one thing that doesn't really work well by me: if I plug the phone (usb) and choose the mobile archive function, windows 7 detects 2 thing:
- space volume of 12 GB (the phone?)
- MICROSD32 (the name i used when i formatted it), which is 32 GB
The problem is that not the whole microsd is mounted: from the file browser on the phone, I can see that the micro sd is there, and then there is a folder named 'external_sd', and THAT folder is the folder that is been mounted on windows.
This doesn't allow me to read/write data files on the sd (application files, savegames, and so on)....because it doesn't mount that part of the micro sd.
Is there a way to fix this? I am always forced to copy/cut/paste things from the phone file browser...to get to the micro sd root...
And BTW i have root access now. if that can make a difference with this.
I just noticed that I am wrong, and BOTH volumes belong to the same micro sd....the mobile storage 12GB is the root of the microsd, while the other 32 GB volume....is also the microsd....but the external-sd folder....why this partitioning?????
external_sd is where your 32 giga micro sd should be mounted, if you're browsing from the phone.
You should have checked the option 'usb debugging ' in menu/applications/development'. Then connect the phone to pc and you should see the both internal and external storage.

It doesn't happen. I have usb debugging, but it mounts the micro sd as two volumes : 12 GB and 32 GB...which is impossible.
Also browsing from the phone, the mircrosd (sdcard) has an internal folder named 'external_sd'....weird.
Maybe I should reformat the card from the phone? I formatted from the computer before putting it in the phone...but it was completely empty.

Mount internal HDD via Samba - Network Storage instead of SDcard

Hi,
is there a way to mount internal HDD instead of SD card via Settings > Device > Storage & reset > SHIELD storage access > Over local network ?
I have followed http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4172/~/how-do-i-share-shield-tv-folders-with-a-pc and see only INTERNAL ...
Thank you.
At first I only saw the Internal as well, it was only after a few reboots I saw the External too. I also had to disable/enable the SMB server once after I plugged in the HDD. Did you set the HDD as Internal Storage or is it just plugged in as an non-adopted External Storage (both should work, just curious)?
