I noticed, that in few games I have blue textures. Of course its unplayable.
- stock rom 4.3
- kernel flamingomonkey 3.4.39
Could be kernel issue?
Or an incompatibility issue in the app that needs to be sorted out due to a new GPU driver as well as a new graphics rendering system that 4.3 uses. OpenGL was upgraded to a new version and maybe some of the system calls those games use are not compatible with the new version.

What games? I most likely own some of them. I have also used flamingmonkey so can confirm whether it is a driver issue or not. Personally I haven't had this issue, and I have tried quite a few games. This can indicate faulty hardware on PC GPU's so you definitely want to get to the bottom of this ASAP.

Hello could someone please tell me the best PSX emulator for the Xperia Play and give detailed instructions on setting it up so that it runs smoothly? I have tried one, FPse, but the sound does not work properly. psx4droid doesn't work at all [the latest version 3.0.6,] it just keeps asking me to force close when I try to load a rom. Please give the name of the emulator and the version and how to set it up for the Xperia Play.
the best emulator so far is FPSe, check on the Apps & Themes section, there is a sticky with all playable roms.
FPse.
Mine works perfect. No sound or framerate choppiness at all.
How did you set up FPse ? Mine has poor sound, it doesn't seem to be playing all the sound only some parts.
Solved the sound issues. So in FPse i went into "system" and unchecked Mdec Acceleration, Gte Acceleration and HLE mode. Now I hear all the audio though at some points the audio slows down a bit.

I have -
Country - USA (i live in the UK though but i d/l USA games. This might make a difference to smoothness as the timing of the games is 50 mhz or 60 mhz and could account for some choppy sound)
Mdec - On
Gte - On
Fast Booting - On
HLE - Off
Boost Mode - Off
No Sound - Off
Spu Sync - Off
Framelimiter - On
Frameskip - None
Screen Filtering - Off
Screensize - Full Screen
Fast Overlay - Off
Screen Orientation - Landscape (turning off auto in theory could speed emulation up)
Print fps - Off
Invert colors - Off
Some games didnt work very well. Tony Hawks 2 had very glitchy graphical errors (or might of been THPS 1, cant remember), and Colin Mcrae 2 grinded to a halt.
Here is what i have tried though -
Time Crisis (touch screen as light gun, dam awesome)
Demolition Derby
Rampage Universal Tour
Point Blank (touch screen as light gun, dam awesome)
Strider 2
Die Hard Trilogy
All of them run flawlessly. No graphical glitched. Now sound stuttering. (and i mean none at all, not even a tiny hiccup).
I have rooted my phone, taken away lots of bloatware. Maybe this helps, maybe not.
N64 emulator sound skips for me alot. fpse none though.
Hey man mine is rooted also, you said you took off bloatware, could you go into detail? I want to take off stuff but I do not want to "brick" the phone because I don't know how I would get it back working.
Check out this thread for removing bloatware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699
Man I don't think it's actually possible to get this damn emulator playing the sound properly, it keeps slowing down messing up the sounds. sucks man.
Sorry to bump an old thread..
But does the phone need to be rooted to work with emulators - to eventually play psx games ?
and what is the actualy process on loading these old school games to the xperia play?
Especially looking forward to colin mcrae..
plz help
Thanks
No.
No root is needed for emu. In phone .it is just a normal app..

No you don't need to be rooted.
If you're looking to use FPSe, here's how to get playing your games:
1.) Buy and install FPSe.
2.) Open up the app and it will ask you to load a BIOS. Google is your one and only friend when searching for the PSX BIOS.
3.) After that, you can load your game. So rip your own .iso from games you own. Or again, Google is your friend for this.
4.) Then you can load the game and stay playing.
You might have to change a few settings to get the game and emulator performing better, that's basically trial and error.
I've been trying out the WildHero rom, everything system related works great. But, one application so far, wordfeud seems to have a graphics issue. It loads the initial screens alright, but when loading the board, it just displays a black screen and returns back to initial screen. I've attached part of the log, would have posted this in the rom thread, but my post count is low.
Yeh this ROM still has major problems, including google maps which is included with it and many more apps which I know off which do not work - mostly graphic related like games....
It's impossible.. I gave up on it and just went back to my regular roms :l

i hope they will bring a better version out soon like the 1.2.1 but then with the hardware fixed and something to reduce the ram useage
I installed Evil_Alex_Unleashed ver 1.0 on my 501 and it mostly works great. I do however have problems with OpenGL:
Some Games freeze (Ritide GP, Beach Buggy)
Some Games just crash (Clouds & Sheep, Google Maps)
Rebooting the tablet often fixes the problem, but only for a limited time.
I can PM a logcat of such a crash, but don't want to post it (may contain other information).
The developers of Clouds & Sheep reckon that in their case OpenGL is crashing, potentially due to a driver problem. Can't say with certainty whether the other apps also crash because of OpenGL or due to some other problem, but it does seem likely. I did not have those problems with HC.
Does anybody else have those problems (Evil_Alex or stock ICS)? Is there a fix?
This is a well known problem. AFAIK it is caused by a memory leak in OpenGLES in graphic driver for ICS/JB. This also breaks Chrome browser after some time.
follow-up questions

Thanks. Some follow-up questions:
Is this a problem specific to Evil_Alex, the Iconia 501, or any ICS/JB device?
Where can I find more info on this problem?
Is there a work-around or fix for the problem (e.g. give the driver more memory, use a different driver, ...)?
Does this problem affect everybody, or just some tablets?
Cheers,
Carsten
@ich23: I'm not sure but it seems it affects at least all ICS/JB based firmwares for Tegra2 based Acer tablets. I don't know if other Tegra2 devices are affected too as I don't follow threads on forums for those devices.
Hi all of you people.
I use my s4 to play some big graphics games and i notice that if i change its name on build.prop i can get better graphics on those games. For Eixample by putting s6 name on build.prop (like the touchwiz ported roms do) you get s6 graphics on s4.
Do you know if there is another thing i can change to improve graphics? (Device product name, etc , i dont know)
Maybe a root app , idk.
Thanks for your time trying to help me!
I'm anything but an expert on any of this stuff but it occurs to me that you may be getting more detailed drawing by fooling apps this way but it has to be at the expense of drawing performance. after all you're asking the phone to do something the games devs didn't think was a good idea.
for increased performance in games disable hardware overlays in development options after you bootup.
maybe get yourself an overclockable kernel (if you can find one for your rom).
the GLtools app allows you to spoof hardware details if that's your thing...
Hardware overlays is disabled by default on most roms. So is Force GPU rendering.
Resurrection Remix rom has an "Force High-End Graphics" option. It is experimental and I don't know if it even works, I prefer better performance.

I've never seen a rom that had it disabled, it resets to it's default active position with every boot...
Hi there,
I'm having issues with the new r12p1 graphics drivers when using Dolphin emulator (https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Forum-android) where performance is bad and there are a lot of graphics issues, in fact the issues appear very similar to those experienced with the galaxy s6 on Marshamellow rom.
So I'd like to keep the old GPU drivers so I can use the Dolphin emulator but use the newer roms and kernels which are including the new GPU driver - does anyone know of a way to do that??
Thanks in advance.
If you want to use old driver...
-Use older rom and kernel.
-(Might not work) Use newer rom and replace some libs file with older one(I don't know which one) with old kernel.
These are 2 option I can come up with.
Also
Have you tried reinstall the app(uninstall and install again)?
Some apps that experience graphic glitch after update can be fixed by reinstalling apps.

Thanks for the ideas, I tried reinstalling the app but no joy, I think the driver is just buggy.
I'm going to try backing up the old drivers and importing them to the new rom and also installing a new kernel without the new drivers.
Hi, I used dolphin emulator in my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for playing Dragon ball zee bt3 and it was extremely slow thus I tried to run the game in vulkan support and after that the game was fine but the video doesn't appear and it only shows a black screen while sound keeps coming from the background, so anyone have any idea in how to fix this vulkan support glitch. I have Naugat 7.0 and 3GB Ram with 32GB Rom......pls help me as I had seen many people play this game on small phones like Motorola G4 etc..
