Getting tired of the same S3 look? Here's a little fun project for you
(I'm not responsible for broken phones)
What you will need:
S3 mini
Root + Custom Recovery
AOKP (Available for download at Maclaw.pl/downloads)
Hobby knife
One blank Sticker Sheet
Ruler
Knowledge of flashing ROMs.
Scissor
OK! Let's get started
!!!adjust your screen brightness and change to full screen before this step!!!
Cut out a rectangular piece of the sticker sheet. Clean the top of your S3 mini and then peel of the protecting plastic of the sticker. Attach it to the phone, even the display. Take your thumbnail and mark out the edges of the front. Then take the knife and cut after the markings
Now take the ruler and put it alongside the edges of the screen which you should see through the sticker. Take the hobby knife and cut alongside the screen. Be careful and don't apply too much pressure to the knife. Do the same to the remaining three edges and you should be able to peel off the part that's attached to the screen. Great!
Now go into settings > ROM control > Navigation Bar > Tic the "Enable Bar" option. Your phone should now look something like this
Not much left! Now go to the Google Play and download AdjBrightness. Go into Option > Scroll down and tic the "Lock off button light". Now you won't have to deal with the capacitive buttons glowing through the sticker.
There you have it! A Gnexus, the only one of its kind

LOL!
Nice idea anyway
Actually works way better than you think (at first). My friend thought I had a white Nexus 4 when he saw it first

I think the softbuttons can be enabled on any rooted rom by adding "qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0" to your build.prop.

On stock rooted they are like the hardware keys ordered and look "sammy"-like so they're not really nice i think...

I changed the picture to a recent one. U can really notice the "grainy" in this one

1) Check that your back cover glass (the one that covers the camera) is REALLY clean from both sides.
2) Accept the fact that in low light the phone won't shoot good pics.

The only time it will take good pictures is when the flash is right now the object, or if there is 100% sun on the object. As u can see on my example, there was fairly enough light but still came out Grainy.

Hi All,
I think I may have to return my Nexus under warranty, I am delighted with it as a tablet but have noticed I am getting blobs appear whenever the background is dark and especially on black backgrounds, I have taken a photo of them with the tablet turned off.

It's probably the oleophobic coating coming off.
I will post a photo to show you what I mean as soon as I am permitted to.
I am surprised many people ever get past 10 posts on this forum having to type the image verification code every time and having to wait 5 minutes between posts and not allowed to post images or links!
Anyone got any ideas now photo is up?

Maybe from your case? My case gets little dust marks on my screen.
No, not dust, I have circled the 4 blobs in orange.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Like I said before, it looks like the oleophobic coating coming off. It's really strange that it would be coming off on a pattern like that... Is there a part of the case that has those 4 dots that could be rubbing on it?
I have something similar with my screen. It looks like a smudge fingerprint on the left side of the screen. I can wipe it off but it always comes back. I've tried soap, lens paper, water but it keeps reappearing after a few hours.

Checked and definitely no pattern like that on the case + when its closed it doesn't touch the screen anyway.

Just thought I would update on this, the problem didn't really get any worse but also didn't resolve so I have recently sent it back to Asus as it was nearing end of warranty period and they have put a brand new screen on now so a good outcome.
I just noticed this feature on the stock Samsung browser that comes with the Note n7100. I hadn't seen this feature talked about before in any review. There's an icon in the web address field that enables "reader mode". It basically gets rid of everything around the text and fits it to the screen for perfect reading.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to set the Reader background color to sepia instead of white ? I find it more eye friendly.

The only option I found for changing the background is inverting screen rendering. This can be found in the accessibility menu inside the browser settings. What it does is changes white for black and viceversa.

Yes, the wait is finally over, Jelly Bean has touched down on sunny Singapore in my trusty Note 10.1 this afternoon. Doing a taste test now, should be sweet!

Some sort of software update is being rolled out in India too. Downloading right now... Hopefully 4.1.2
Please post a screenshot of About screen on settings and the version by dialing *#1234#, I'll tweet it to SamMobile so they can pull the full firmware packages. This is it!!!

Its 4.1.1.
Multi window has changed. It minimizes the screen and able to scroll through the home screen.
I much prefer the 50/50 splitscreen.

It's 4.1.1 in India. The best part is that the stupid brightness bug in SNote is gone.

You can switch between split screen and floating windows at will.. Should be a button in the bottom left corner when your selecting multi screen apps. Also you should be able to resize those floating screens also.

ok, so I upgraded my note 10.1 to jellybean and I do not know if I am the only one experiencing it or what, but it seems to be slightly buggy, sure its smooth like butter, but do you guys notice considerably lags when launching apps sometimes (loading time takes 2-4 seconds for certain apps which includes loading settings from the side bar), its pretty intermittent and I have this error message popping out now and then if u press the home button to close apps that says something like, unfortunately "named apps" has closed or something like this.
One other thing I noticed is the keypad, there is slight lag when typing fast, not all the time but sufficient to be noticeable.

Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but as the title says, I'm curious as to whether I could use Google glass as I only have sight in one of my eyes (my right eye)
Thanks in advanced to anyone replying, and I hope you're all enjoying your glass

Yes. It's not stereo; the little prism display is only over the right eye.

Thanks very much! I wasn't sure on how much of the lens it took up, so I was wondering about whether I'd be able to see anything other than the display.
Thanks again!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
of course ,only right side has a very little display now.
The prism is small and positioned to be on the periphery of your vision, so it doesn't block much at all.
If you're right-eyed, you seem to be in luck, because all the pictures of Glass I've seen are positioned on the right.
See this picture, only that small square is actual 'display', everything else is more or less a frame.

Maybe they're going to make left ones too, who knows.
Google has said that it is designed to display right at the edge of your vision so as to not block normal sight, but they are assuming stereoscopic vision. Looking at the pictures again, like the one above, I am a little concerned that Glass might block, or at least obscure, a good chunk of vital vision.

That's what I was worried about, I don't wanna splash out and get glass and then walk into the path of a bus or something lol.
I may message Google and see what they say!
Will post a reply here should I get one
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
There doesn't appear to be a way to message Google with my question as I don't have glass.
I'll just have to wait and see
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I'm in the same boat except I'm the unlucky one to only have sight in my left eye...
I'm really interested in Google glass but I'm guessing I'm probably going to be SOL... Hopefully they bring out a version for the left side...
Same here... I'm going to have to wait for the left eye version to come out the unit is designed asymmetrically, so it can't just be flipped over to the other side.
