Nexus s ROM on NS4g? - Nexus S General

I have a nexus s4g with a bad ESN. I use it WiFi only. Will nexus s ROMs work on it? Or is everything different?
Sent from my VS920 4G using xda app-developers app

No it won't work

why would you want to put a nexus s rom on a nexus s 4g in the first place?

You can port a nexus s ROM to a 4g ROM. Look it up in the development thread.

flashing a rom which is not meant for that model may or most likely end in a bricked phone..don't try this stay safe..

If you swap the boot.img's you should be fine if all you need is it to boot

It shouldn't be an issue, as long as you do the proper updater script and build prop edits to get it to flash in the first place. I'd also recommend backing up your efs directory first, just in case. There's a pc app around somewhere that will do this for you.
In the worst case scenario, this thread should solve any problems you may run into

Galaxy s2 lock screen

Is it available to nexus?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Maybe I'm working on the lockscreena now but sgs2 is a 6 tab unlock and to me is absolutely hideous lol, I might throw it in for you tho. Check in development for aosp+ premium rom, like I said 2.3.5 update coming soon.

It is available in the Nexus S 4G Development section and should only be used on that model.
It came out with 2.3.7

A shame, if there is something I'd like to see improved in my Nexus S is the wifi signal.
Thanks for confirming

It's in Buglesspete's root/unroot thread in the 4G development forum.

I definitely like the signal strength since flashing the new modem.
Sent from my NS4G Pool Party using Tapatalk!
It has made a difference in my signal and reception. I tried it last week at lake house, I always had to use Roam Control to get phone to work. I could actually talk without it or walking to areas and "can you hear me now?""

Ns4g cm9

Ok so I've been trolling the fourums here since I had my captivate.. was running cm7 on that and loved it... I passed that phone to my wife n opted for a ns4g. So far love it.... I liked the aosp ics but have now settled back with cm7 and feel stuck in the past... my question is does anyone know if they are working on a ns4g cm9... if so anyone know its current status... I really likes the aosp ics except very buggy... if I missed a thread on this sorry I could not find one...
Thanks

Its being worked on. Gonna take a while for nightly status though.

aosp's ICS is the best of the bunch in my opinion. I've been running it for the past week, without any issues. Perhaps you should try it again with a full wipe (system, boot, etc).
The fact that I've stuck with this for an entire week says something. I usually switch roms every couple of days!

The 32gb is identical to every other n7 except for the memory. No reason it shouldn't work.

Yes I was able to root mine right away using the Nexus 7 Toolkit found in the Android Development Forum. Easy Peasy. Option 8 in the kit does it all for you: unlock, root, busybox, etc.
