Apparently try holding the power button for 15 - 30 seconds.

My observation leads me to believe that this is typical for a battery that has been left on with a completely discharged battery. But it shouldn't take an hour.
My thinking is that this is product of bigger batteries and higher current requirements. Although I'd like to hear from someone if holding down the power button will start the device in spite of very low charge.

Tablet won't turn back on

So i turn off my nex so it can charge faster after 1hr I notice the battery charging display wasn't showing so I decided to turn it back on it wouldn't start I pressed the power on button for at least 20min straight it wouldn't start I got very upset I kept on clicking then I got a logo does any one know what causes this to happen I'm stock with 4.2 update and this is like the second time it does this

You really press power for 20 minutes lol?
Next time just unplug the charger and wait a bit then plug back in. Do it several time and it will work.
and I do not know what cause the problem. It might be battery issue. or you usually left the battery die and Nexus 7 turn itself off? If you did that, that might be a bit of the problem!
Hope this help~
you don't need to turn it off to charge, you can just turn on flight mode...i leave our in flight mode overnight but charging and it barely uses any battery

Interesting you mention this. Last night I went to fire up mine and nothing....nada. Hadn't used it all day so I knew battery was charged. Waited a bit then pressed both power and volume (+ & -) at the same time and it booted. All was well.
Read where this has happened to a few other but not very often. Thought I might be looking at an RMA. 4.2 JB Stock ROM/rooted only. Keeping a wary eye on this development.

[Q] HELP!!!! n10 died and now wont turn on

Ok my n10 is rooted and romed with CARBON rom, no problems nothing, but today I had an email come in I looked at it set It down left the screen on a second later it just died. so I plugged it in back on it comes. later same thing almost dead checked new email, set it down screen on then death.....plugged it in again, now nothing except a flashing battery charging symbol. been charging for 10 min. tried power, power volume down, nothing....got a different cable...nothing.....my computer wont pick it up either. what do I do?????
PLEASE HELP!!!
I just had this same problem with mine; because of the strange battery issue where my battery would read 90% when it was actually empty and slow charging once it was plugged in... The resolution for me was to plug it into the charger for 5 minutes and not touch it and then try a power on.

Thanks Ill give it a go!!
Plug it in to the wall charger, not a computer. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then hold all buttons down at the same time. This should let the tablet boot now and will bring you into fastboot mode. It defaults to "Start" so just hit the power button and the tablet will boot like normal. Once you verify the tablet will boot fine, shut it down and leave it plugged into the wall charger until the tablet is charged all the way.
Dont know if it is a coincidence or not but this is the 3rd time I have heard the same story and all people were using the Carbon ROM.
Thanks guys for the feedback, definitely will be switching roms and buy the pogo charger!

Nexus 4 Died?

So i was playing a game called The room battery was at 1% but was connected to a charger and it suddenly powered off and a red light started to blink then the light disappeared and now it is connected to the charger and has no response, is my phone dead? :S i'm so nervous.
The device may not respond until it is fully charged. I think it's best if you wait until it's charged fully and see what goes from there.

Maybe it's the adapter that's broken? Try changing adapter/cable or try charging using your PC

So many threads on this. Charge your phone overnight. Not working? Rip off the back cover and disconnect and reconnect it. That's a no go? Check another thread.... Wish you luck

When I have get the red light I have to keep trying to power it on taking the charger in and out. Last time took 30 mins for it to go away of continuously trying to power on and taking charger in and out. The reason I do this is because if you leave it on charge with the red light on the phone will not charge. You can leave it over night and the red light will still be there and your phone won't be charged! It will only charge if you get the charger screen up and the red light is off.
Happens to me if don't have much battery and I try to watch something on the TV with slimport connected

plug it in, and press and hold volume up plus power for 60 seconds, then release. It should then power up automatically or press the power button again. This key combination is the equivalent of a battery pull, which is what you have to do when it gets locked up like that or battery drains too low.
none of those worked i tried it's bricked i guess

Your phone's fine. The reason it powered down even though it was plugged in is because it was at 1%, and considering you were playing a game your phone was probably expending power faster than it could charge.
When there's absolutely no power left it won't respond no matter how long you hold down the power button. Just plug it in & let it charge for a few hours don't worry.
source: this happens to everybody who uses their phone extensively at some point

It's not bricked, there are a lot of threads about it around here. You have to charge the battery, and keep trying with vol down + power, until it takes you to recovery. From there choose reboot.

you have to disconnect the battery and charge it withe external charger for an hour then reconnect your battery . i hope this help you .

Don't work.
unplug it and leave it for around 10 minutes, then plug it back in again, wait a minute and hold down power for 30s until it boots. Should be OK after that.

Good luck. But please do not make double posts and post questions in the Q&A forum next time, ok?
Always use the stock charter, and charge it over nigth, I think this solves your Problem.
Plug it for 30 minutes. Then restart.
If not unplug/plug battery by opening back cover.
Maybe battery was disconnected.
Did you try holding volume up + power? I had this happen to me as well and I did that combination while on the charger to get my N7 to turn back on.

I actually had this problem last night. My battery was at 20% a few days ago... left it idle, went to use it last night and bam, nothing.
Plugged it in for a few minutes and tried to boot, nothing. Left it for about 5 minutes and then just held down the power button until something happened, and finally I managed to get the battery icon to appear. It would stay for a few seconds then the screen would go black. Then it would return. Rinse, repeat. I couldn't even get it to stop doing that. Eventually gave up and just let it charge for another 10 minutes.
Looked at it after that and it was booted. Battery page shows it dropped from 20% to completely dead instantly. Not sure what's up with that.
The whole time I was doing this procedure, the notification light was pulsing in sequences of 5, if that means anything to anyone.
Anyway, tablet is fine this morning.

Note 3 died while charging

Hi all, my note 3 just died in a strange way.
2 hours ago i it was working in the train. When i got home it was about 10%. Took it out once while smoking and put it back charging again. Half an hour ago i turned on the screen to see if i got any messages. Turned of the screen again. Half an hour later i wanted to check again, but the phone was off.
It wont turn on anymore. Tried my second battery, not working. Checked my usb cable, it was charging my external battery.
After this i plugged the phone in to charge again to see what would happen. I dont see any battery icon in the screen, the led is also not working. The battery feels cold. But the area around the camera is pretty hot. Still won't do nothing.
Has anyone any idea what this unexpected dead is about? Not rooted, not wet, not dropped, like i said, i was checking my messages half an hour ago while it was charging.

have you tried taking your phone into recovery mode (volume up+home+power)?

Yes, it is not reacting to anything. I thought maybe the power button is bricked, but that would not explain why it is not showing the battery logo and led light while charging.

Plugged usb cable into my laptop, took out battery, connected phone to cable, tried recovery and power, both not working. The upper area of the phone gets hot though. So the laptop is giving power to it i guess.

Ok thanks, what a shame.
Any technical people who might have know what caused it? Could it be a power shortcut or some kind of malware in the background? It's a really stupid death.
Mine did this
Was only 2 weeks old.
Took it back to the shop, and got it replaced.
It wouldnt charge even with the phone off
Common fault with them
similar thing happened to my wifes s2 turned out to be the motherboard
I have visited a support center. They told me the battery was giving 4.2 Volt to the phone instead of 3.8 Volt. So the phone and the battery are both broke. He told me this doesn't happen often.
