This have been possible ever since I made the Odin file.... And you don't need root to use Odin.

I currently have a bell Samsung galaxy s ( I-9000 ) and after I updated to 2.2 JL2 I was unable to root my phone or install programs from recovery but after a long time of fooling around I was able to figure out what works.

Before you do ANY of this test that you can get into download mode and recovery mode.
Test recovery:
When the phone is off push Volume up, Home (middle button in the bottom) and then power and the same time when the boot screen comes up, let go.

When the phone is off push Volume down, Home (middle button in the bottom) and then power and the same time when the boot screen comes up, let go.
If at any time you mess up your phone, enter download mode and flash the old rom back on the phone via odin3 which is at the bottom

Unplug USB -> Settings -> Development -> check USB debugging -> plug in USB

4) Install Clockworkmod
Go into the market -> search for clockworkmod -> download ROM Manager
5) Install CWM Recovery

Put the rom you wish to flash and put it in the "internal" SD (the 16GB one, not the microSD one you can put in yourself)
7) Boot into Recovery
Volume up + Home + Power wait till the logo comes up and let go
Select reinstall packages (I believe it is called) and you might have to do it twice and you will boot into CWM recovery
8) CWM Recovery
choose to flash rom from SD and accept it and you are done.

Questions
I will try to answer any questions that I had during my search to the best of my knowledge, i might be off the mark a bit but close enough to get the idea.
What is to root?
Rooting gives your phone access to the system files and allows you to make changes to them, meaning the phone can be damaged if something changed something important but also gives you freedom to change things like install custom rom. It is a good idea to unroot the phone if you are not doing any changes to it or don't want to mess stuff up.
What is recovery or 3e recovery?
Recovery is a way of loading certain programs directly into the phone, the file to do this is called "update.zip". Once booted into recovery you can tell the phone to install the file.
The issue is that the old version 2e allowed unsigned programs (meaning any program could be installed) but 3e allowed only signed programs to be installed so it would not let us install programs like CWM to flash a rom.
SOo in short the 3e modification lets us install unsigned programs like 2e did.
What is Rom Manager / ClockworkMod?
It is a program to flash a rom on the phone, the rom manager is booted in via 3e recovery.
Does it matter which Rom version I install?
Not really the last 3 letters ( JYP / JL2 ) are just version numbers and you can flash any rom that in within your product, soo i would just suggest keeping within any the roms in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665
Extra files
Odin3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=405389&d=1285090568
Samsung firmware : http://www.samfirmware.com/ (can login with Gmail account)
Addition:
Since bell is using 850hz for modem, you should also reflash the modem file after "most" roms out there. Or you won't have access to network.
To do so,
-download an official rom from http://www.samfirmware.com/, extract
-start Odin.
-Select "phone" and fetch the modem.bin file.
-Only thing checked should be "Auto Reboot"
-Put phone in download mode
-Plug in USB
-hit Start
Let it reboot and thou shalt have signal
had to do this on Darky's rom 8.0 and 9.0.2
I installed voodoo kernel directly with heimdall (odin replacement).
Very easy:
-boot in download mode
-flash kernel
-(optional) install superuser from market
This way you have a rooted phone with clockworkmod and lagfix, in very few steps
Hi XDAers, am new to sharing, and wanted to start with this thread as it might be helpful for many people
Am not responsible if you bricked your phone, so don't blame me!
Lets start with the guide:
What u need:
1- Samsung drivers Here
2- Odin flasher Here
3- Rom files which u will find Here
4- (Optional) To do a full clean install or to root your rom u will need Philz kernel
Installation Steps:
1-Install the previously downloaded samsung drivers on your PC
2-Start your phone in download mode (while the phone is off press and hold PWR button + Vol dwn + Home)
3-Start Odin (above link)
4-Click on the PDA Btn and select the rom file you downloaded (.tar file)
5-Connect your phone (don't use any usb hub or whatever, etc.) so that the phone is connected directly to the PC
6-Wait until you see the upper left box in odin turns yellow
7-Click on start and don't touch anything until its all done
Congratulations! now u have a stock rom installed on your phone
To have a Full clean install (u have to do this first) :
1- Go to Philz kernel and download the one that corresponds to your current firmware build code
(you can know your current rom code by going to settings, about device, the 5 letters after i9100 in Build number are your firmware code)
2- Place the zip you downloaded on your external sd card
3- Start the device in recovery mode (while the phone is off press and hold PWR + HOME + VOL UP)
4- Scroll to install update from external storage using the volume keys and power btn for selection
5- Go to the kernel you downloaded and install it.
6-Turn off ur phone and start again in recovery mode, it will start the newly installed recovery
7- Now go to mounts and storage and format (system, preload, data, cache), Go back to main menu, Select advanced and wipe Dalvik cache
Now ur phone is fully cleaned and ready for Installation !!
For rooting after installation, Repeat the previous steps until step 5

I had JB 4.3 already installed with root on my N7105, but last month came a new minor update called N7105ZHEML. This is for Hong Kong versions of the Galaxy Note II LTE. This seems a fairly exotic update, as I couldn't find much info about it and I had to scramble from dozens of various sources with more or less success. The update installed without a glitch via Odin, but I couldn't get the phone to re-root nor could I get back to my old NAND backup, as the phone didn't seem to restart properly after a restore. So you can imagine that I got slightly nervous...
Please note that this is for the N7105 (LTE version) and the Hong Kong Version of the latest 4.3 update, called N7105ZHEML.
It might work for other hard or software too, but I can't be sure.
Do everything on your own risk, as you can easily lose all your data or even worse, brick your phone if you don't know what you're doing!
Anyway, here is what worked for me, hope this helps somebody:
Check new N7105 firmware: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-N7105&pcode=TGY
1. Backup using ROM Manager/NAND
2. Backup using Titanium
3. Download new ROM file, unzip it
4. Open Odin 3.09, Click AP/PDA and choose N7105ZHUENA1_N7105ZZHENA1_N7105ZHEML1.tar.md5
5. Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
6. Turn off phone, then press Vol Down, Home and Power until boots
7. press Vol Up (Continue)
8. Connect to USB, Odin should turn blue
9. Click Start, wait till phone boots (takes really long time, incl. Media Database update)
10. Do not disconnect until PASSED! shows up in Odin
Install TWRP Recovery:
Check here for updated TWRP: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/125
1. Open Odin 3.09, Click AP/PDA and choose openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-t0lte.img.tar
2. Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
3. Turn off phone, then press Vol Down, Home and Power until boots
4. press Vol Up (Continue)
5. Connect to USB, Odin should turn blue
6. Click Start, wait till phone boots
De-Knox, BusyBox and Re-Root with PowerBoxV2:
Check here for updated PowerBox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651601
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery: Turn off phone, then press Vol UP, Home and Power until boots (can be done without booting up after installing TWRP)
2. Remove SD Card, copy Powerbox_v2.zip to root of SD card
3. Install ZIP file from TWRP
4. Run PowerBox, choose only first option (DeKnox, BusyBox and Root), execute
5. Clear Cache and Dalvik
6. Reboot
If Superuser doesn't install or root doesn't work correctly:
1. First try to install SuperSU from GooglePlay
If this fails:
1. Download UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip for TWRP from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
2. Copy it to root of SD card
3. Boot into TWRP Recovery: Turn off phone, then press Vol UP, Home and Power until boots
4. Install ZIP file from TWRP
5. Reboot
Boot into Bootloader: Turn off phone, then press Vol DOWN, Home and Power until boots
Boot into Recovery: Turn off phone, then press Vol UP, Home and Power until boots

To flash TWRP Recovery:

3. Connect phone to computer and open up Odin
4. Click on AP or PDA and select your .tar file (this is the twrp recovery file)

c) click Start
d) once done, disconnect your phone and take out your battery
e) bring the phone to Download Mode (power button + vol up + home)
f) your phone should then boot into TWRP

Download TWRP for your phone (at least 3.0.0.0 version). Flash it via Odin.
Instruction:
Needed - Samsung Odin
TWRP (TAR(maybe MD5)file)
Root manager zip file (I recommend Magisk Manager)
Now steps:
1. Turn on USB Debugging and OEM Unlock in your phone.
2. Turn off your device
3. Push Vol- , Home and Power buttons at once
4. When you'll see warning, click Vol+
5. Open Odin
6. Make sure you have F. Reset Time enabled (Options fold)
7. Go back to Log fold
8. Click PDA (maybe AP) button
9. Select your TWRP file
10. When it's loaded, connect your phone
11. You should see Added! in log
12. Click 'Start' button
13. Reboot phone into the recovery mode.
If it failed, remove the battery from the phone for 5 minutes and try again. If it's still failing, just don't stop trying.
If I did help, leave ?.
