Has anyone tried the new CM Focal camera app who previously used a Google Edition ROM with stock camera?
How does it compare with stock GE 4.3 camera?
Picture quality, responsiveness, features, etc....
Focal was very buggy a couple of days ago. I'll probably switch to it eventually though.

agreed. Focal will stabilize over the next few weeks or so. we'll all have a better idea of how to compare it then.
Also read the moto x camera works as well. Look here.

You'll have 2 camera icons and it's just a camera app like focal.

Hi there guys, I'm posting this topic to discuss the fuzzyness on my camera on my desire HD
Well I recently flashed the nightly cyanogen mod 7 rom, and well the camera is really fuzzy when it takes pictures ..... wondering if anyone has this same problem, or if there's a solution for me? Thanks so much $

To be honest I never really much liked the CM7 camera, I just grabbed the Camera.apk from MIUI rom and installed. No issues whatsoever, good luck.

CM is an acquired taste, it's not for everybody.
advantages are that it's light and practical with some excellent options, I like the sense camera to much to stay on CM for too long, but I always try it out .

Also, having a solid build of CM is great for development of other non-sense based ROMs but I totally agree with you about the sense camera, it is better than the AOSP camera
Very early days but I am running the latest nightly and apart from some niggly performance issues (fixed in the next nightly) it is running very well on my phone and the camera is ok but yeah the sense camera is much better.

Haven't changed the DPI no, and very impressed with stability of the build I have had pretty much no crashes at all. However there are some performance issues, FPS is much lower than in sense based ROMs in a number of games, hopefully should be addressed in the next few nightlies.
Audio is of good quality if perhaps slightly quieter out of speakers than on sense. Some random dipping of volume though listening to sound through headphones

Does...anyone like the AOSP camera?
I got the One for its camera mostly and body 2nd. Because 2 years down the road, when other iterations are released this camera will still be king of the hill.
The AOSP camera is good but it still has a few bugs atm and obviously it can't take full advantage of the image processing chip on the one.

CM chews the battery until it's well developed on a device. Plus you'll lose the HTC Camera app, HTC Zoe etc....that alone is enough to put me off.

Even Release Candidates CM's have always had a devastating effect on the battery of all my galaxy phones ( S, S3, S3 and Note 2) , from what i understand it was down to the proper samsung drivers not not being available to use with CM, is this the case with HTC too ? do other HTC phone CM roms have similar battery lift to the stock Roms?
I reallllllly hate Touchwiz. Back from the days of the Mesmerize on good ol' US Cellular I always have. But the S4 has some cool features, specifically smart stay, air gestures, and the likes. It also has a lot of battery killing BS that I don't need.
Just wondering if it will be possible for developers of AOSP ROMs like AOKP and CM to have the pure google experience with some of the S4 specific features integrated.
I remember on the Epic 4G Touch getting S-Voice from the S3 and it was sketchy and didn't work great. So I'm kind of doubtful, but curious nonetheless.

Hopefully when the Google galaxy s4 is released it will be pure aosp with the added gs4 features.
As with other TW based features the only way we'll see them for AOSP is if Samsung decides to release them ready-to-go on an AOSP build. Based on their history I wouldn't bet on it happening. Look for alternate apps where possible in App Store.
I thought the aosp s4 version that is to be released is probably not going to have all the cool features as our phones just pure stock which probably means none of the air gestures and such which come intergrated with touchjizz.
Why not just root and remove the junk you don't use. Given they aren't tied together somehow.

we'll see. especially with jelly bean 4.3 being launched with it, I think they might take advantage of the s4s features
Most S4 features are just that features. Why buy an S4 if those cool features are AOSP (Open Source). HTC can just put it in a future update. We are at a point where going pure android really takes away from a device. Some features aren't worth losing.

Not trying to be rude but I searched the forums and found this link that supposedly fixes something in it. Apparently the original was FCing and that apk runs but is missing functionality.
I downloaded it from the Play Store and haven't had any issues. Is the version in 10.2 modded or something? I've read that no camera works well yet.

That's where I thought I downloaded it from. Maybe it was the camera from the moto x. Either way, they work fine on touch wiz. Not exactly sure if that was what you were asking. I like the moto x one a lot but can't seem to snap a photo while taking video. Each apk while make is own icon so it won't replace stock camera. Replaced links. Hit Thanks if I've helped.
