After updating to JB 4.3, I noticed that when entering landscape mode (launcher screen or any app), the software buttons no longer appear.
For non-fullscreen apps, this is fine, twist it to portrait, and buttons reappear... but fullscreen apps like games... just not working.
Any solution?
Is there a new settings to hide the software buttons?
Nexus7 WiFi unrooted
[EDIT]
Factory Reset from Recovery menu (Stock) solved the problem.

Aside from rooting and going stock 4.3
Are there any other options? (waiting for 4.3.1 or 4.4 is probably out of the question)

Yes, it's not rooted... yet
I would suggest dirty flashing another custom Rom etc cleanrom but your bootloader is not unlocked and if you unlock it you will lose all you data..I don't have much knowledge but I would use Titanium backup, back up my files and afterwards do a factory reset, if that does not work a custom Rom or flashing a new factory image

If your Nexus7 is set to a different language than English, you might find yourself in the same situation, every now and then.
The solution is to revert the language to English, power down the tablet and restart it.
You may then switch back to the language you had before.
worked - thanks

WOW thanks for the tip man! wouldn't have even though about that. was sure some app or game was causing this. searched google and didn't see anything about it other then here.
anyway, the bug happened again and your tip worked without reseting so thanks. :good::good::good::good::good:
do you know if this is an android 4.3 bug, nexus 7 bug, or something else? will this keep on happening forever??
It happens in 4.4 Kitkat as well!
It happens in 4.4 Kitkat as well.
Switching from Hebrew to English (US), and then restarting solved it.
It was OK when I went back to Hebrew, however after restarting in Hebrew the bug came back again!
Very annoying.
Can anyone tell me if it happens in other devices?

I assume you are running a "custom" recovery (clockwork)? This is why it failed. Only way to install will be to flash back to stock recovery as someone above mentioned. Probably not even worth the trouble.

Yep. I think I will restore the stock recovery since I won't be doing any kernel/rom flashing for a while. Stock rom is very stable.

For starters, the OTA applies to a released ICS firmware - which is very significant when you consider that the "official" OTA release will have to apply to existing ICS devices.

is it possible to install this OTA over DLH6(sys/kernel/modem)? someone mentioned in another DLH7 topic that we can edit updater-script then install OTA. But is this enough to install OTA over DLH6?

Why risk it?
Here's how I'd handle it (if I wanted to preserve anything)
Flash CWM recovery and do a backup with that.
Do a full backup with titanium backup of all system apps, user apps, and data.
Full wipe
ODIN back to LG8 (including the factory recovery)
Full wipe again (just to be paranoid)
copy the OTA to the device and install it with the factory recovery
Full wipe again (I really am paranoid)
Do a basic set up with the new OTA to make sure all the major things work...
Root the install
Then, start restoring things with titanium backup...
---
If something goes wrong, you can always re-install the CWM recovery and restore your backup from there.
Tried the latest LH7 leak. Here are my opinion.
Just hate the new settings menu.
They totally 're-did the my files app. It totally sucks now.. kinda feels like your using Samsung's BadaOS.
No FC's, totally fast.
Camera is a little unstable. After you take a photo it'll show a black screen sometimes.
No graphical glitches so far.
S-voice is back.
S-NOTE removed and S-memo added again.
Overall feels a little louder (not as loud as the LH4).

Do a nandroid backup in case of failure! This is only if u have softkeys which u can enable with the softkey enabler from the playstore on any AOSP rom.
Just use any root explorer app.Go to system/lib/hw and here find the "lights.find5.so" file and rename it to whatever u want in my case i did "lights.find5.so.zip".That will disable the capacitive button lights upon reboot.
For the buttons themselves head to system/usr/key layout/synaptic.....(has the name synaptic in it and it's the only one).Copy this to ur computer for backup purposes if u didn't do the nandroid already. Now open it as a text file and delete everything inside.Save and reboot.
Hit Thanks if u .....u know.....

Hi guys
I upgraded to stock Kit Kat today from stock 4.4. I used WugFresh's Nexus root toolkit to flash the factory image to my device as I had a bootloop on my first flash and I was too lazy to troubleshoot it
Anyway, after setting everything up I realized that Google search was not giving me the option of turning on Google Now for some reason.
I searched online and found one post: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/nexus/_kIWjcSg2vo/GM2mNVhl55IJ
It seems like the new Google Search app isn't allowing me to "opt in" on Google Now. I am in Iceland so that may be an issue, although it wasn't before...
What I did was revert back to 4.3, set up all as normal, turned on Google Now and then dirty flashed a stock(ish) 4.4 build with CWM. That worked, I've still got Google Now, but I'm wondering if anybody has the same issue and if there is a better solution. If I would like to wipe all and then flash a build I would be unable to use Google Now.

Yes, and tried uninstalling all updates.
The only thing that has worked is going back to 4.3 (older Google Search app) and turning on Google Now, then dirty flashing 4.4 on top of that.
Seems like the Google Search app after 3.XX does not allow Google Now in Iceland, which is a strange move to say the least...

Nexus 4, dirty flash 4.4 image over 4.3, Google Now already enabled on 4.3
I have this same problem on my nexus 7. I am in Scotland and didn't get any 4.4 OTA, so I sideloaded 16S over 4.3 and got google services error. I've also tried to flash the factory new 4.4 image and got the same problem.
I finally gave up on 4.4... I'll just wait for the official OTA. I'm to scared to try the same process on the Nexus 4 and end up in the same place.
Ah google, why do you have such a bad OTA roll-out system... takes too long
Thanks guys! It's good to see that I'm not the only one affected.
Is there a way to notify Google/Android team about this and hopefully get this fixed asap?

Done a lot of googling on this issue and found something similar but not exact.
The issue is when I'm in landscape mode and using any keyboard apart from the stock one, I select text to copy and hit edit and the keyboard FCs.
Didn't have this issue on 4.3, have tried SwiftKey, TouchPalX, A.I Type etc... They all do it.
The stock keyboard is fine though.
I have tried a factory reset and the issue still persists, tried clearing all clipboard data and the issue still remains.
I will not root my device to solve this issue so hopefully someone knows WTF is going on.

Yes, also tried flashing the stock O2 rom still the same issue.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Gave in and rooted my phone, what a waste of time that was, tripped the Knox counter for nothing guess I can't send in for any repairs now.
Used a note 3 cleaning script in twrp using the mega wipe option then flashed stock, problem still there. I also flashed XNOTE and still the same problem.
I can't get my head round this issue and why no one else is suffering the same.
Think I'll look around and see if there are any PIT files around for the phone as I guess that's my last option.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
If someone on 4.4.2 can see if they get this problem, download Swiftkey and download contacts+ for example, when you've set up contacts+ go to the SMS tab on C+, put your phone in landscape mode and start typing a text, hopefully your keyboard is in full screen mode with the text box, now highlight the text and select edit and that's where any 3rd party keyboard FCs.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
After thinking about it I do not think flashing a .PIT file will solve anything, it's probably a bug in 4.4.2, am I the only one who has this issue? or is there more of us....
If you guys could please test it, google keyboard also FC while in full screen landscape mode when you select text and hit edit.
