Random reboots, freeze, etc... Just an unpleasant experience all around. I want to love it but just not this one. Its been this way for 6-7 months and I can't take it anymore.
What should I do? Wife got it for me as Christmas gift from play store. Can I send it back you think for a replacement? TIA

I would suggest that you wait for 4.3.
That OTA apparently solves a LOT of issues - I get reboots and freezes as well, and it LOOKS like these are greatly reduced/eliminated with 4.3!
Update to android 4.3 and don't use chrome browser.
I have had the same problem. The freezing would be the worst. I could have had a full charge and when I would restart it from freezing it would have dropped to under half. I actually flashed back to stock and unrooted and it seemed to have solved the problem.

uhh it does have a one year warranty from Samsung, call and get a RMA. Mine had the battery problem and just sent it in and they sent me another one. Been working great ever since.

why not use chrome browser? does it cause problems?
I received my N10, opened the box, turned it on and it started freezing and rebooting. Can't get past the wifi step.
Tried hard and many times to finally get to enter my gmail account, etc
Updated to 4.3, problem persisted.
So I unlocked it, rooted it and tried flashing older stock versions, same problem.
Tried flashing CM, same; PA, same...
Even CM withouf GAPPS wouldnt work
Tried deactivating location service as suggested elsewhere: same; uninstall chrome: same
No I re-locked it, unrooted it and I am running stock 4.3: same problem
So basically, I have a $500 brick. Completely useless as it freezes every 30 seconds.
Decided not to return the device because although I am Canadian, I live in SE Asia and had a visiting friend bring it to me. I'm past the 15 day return period and the overall experience of sending it back fromhere would be a real pain in the butt... Don't know what to do. Really hoping Kit Kat will solve it but I have doubts.

Had nearly the same problem. Changed multiple roms and haven't seen my n10 doing ok more than 2-3 mins...
Rom from team DIRT(dirty unicorns) and KTManta kernel made my days. Give it a try, dont give up

hello guys I have a nexus with one gingerbread 2.3.4 and when I use the 3G network after 2-3 minutes the phone restarts. with this bug I can not use Internet
any ideas? Thanks!
Yes. Me to.
What ROM and/or kernel combo you guys using?
I have the stock rom ota gingerbread 2.3.4, nothing changed, full stock. I recently tried miui 1.5.20 the problem is the same. may be a hardware problem?
Does the phone get hot to the touch on the back? Does the phone still reboot if you turn off 3g data and you go exclusivly Wifi?
Had the same issue with my old Nexus 1. Called HTC support and they immediately said it was a defective board. RMA'd and got refurb, but at least it does not reboot when I use 3g.
Good luck.
thanks jhsiao36, think if I update the radio version 5.12.00.08 can change something or brought it in for service?

I didn't help for me. I tried the 5.12.00.08 radio and it suffered from the same 3g reboots. But when I disabled 3g and used Wifi, never suffered from reboots.
If the phone is still under warranty, definitely encourage you to call them. HTC's customer and tech support is the best I've ever seen. They replaced it no questions asked, even though my phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked.

+1 They are awesome to deal with. It really makes me sad that they are starting to lock down their phones, because I won't buy a phone if I can't run custom ROMs on it.
But with the radio, I highly doubt flashing to 5.12 would help. Google released the 5.08 radio with the OTA update to Gingerbread. If 5.12 was any better, I'm sure they would've included it. There had to have been a reason they stuck with 5.08.
If you aren't afraid of losing anything, or already made backups, you could try the passimg method of giving you a completely stock install. See if the problem occurs with that as well. This would rule out software vs hardware.

I really don't think it can be resolve without sending it back to HTC for a replace/repair. As I said in my previous posts, I've tried 3 different ROMs - stock, cyanogenmod 6 and 7 - all exhibit the same issue - reboot when on 3g, but perfect if on Wifi. And yes, it will reboot even on a freshly install ROM (no apps installed).
HTC knows of this issue and they will replace/repair. I got a refurb and it works perfectly - stock, cyanogenmod 6 or 7.
Sorry, probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but search on <insert your favorite search engine> and you will find that this is a fairly widespread problem.
Thank you for your answer! It does not work, had sent a factory repair.
After several tests, on Monday I sent the phone in for service. I think it's a hardware problem, maybe a bad batch of motherboards.
my S / N: HT05... and your?
I will tell you just back from assistance.
Did you ever overheat it? I believe that the N1 has a problem if you really push it that it can overheat. Once it happens once it will happen again and every time it takes less and less to cause the reboot. Eventually it reboots just with 3G.
I was running mine in the car-mount with GPS, Google Maps (3G), screen on brightest, on a hot summer day while charging ... and it rebooted. Didn't think much of it but then it started rebooting every time I used GPS and charging.
In the end it was pretty near useless ... rebooting all the time. I sent it in twice (the first time they couldn't reproduce the problem) and the second time they replaced the board. Problem solved.
Now I am very careful not to overheat it.
First phone has never been rooted, it is stock latest sprint rom.
Starting 2 weeks ago the phone has been acting odd, keeps losing my custom ringers, turning itself up and down, no software installed to do that. I have also had to re-enter all my logins over the last 2 weeks. Now the weirdest one, I left it on my charger last night as a slept and this morning when I took it off the battery fully charged Icon stayed on and would not go away.
I turned the phone off and on and it still came up. I turned the phone off again but this time the phone would not even boot. I tried to remove battery and put it back still no boot. I finally got it to boot but only if it was plugged into the Samsung wall charger.
I don't think it is any type of malware, spyware or virus, I get all my apps off of the marketplace and I run the norton security beta.
As anyone heard of anything like this before?
Thats weird..... I would either get it replaced or ROOT THE DANG THING lol
EDIT: First ^_^ .....
I remember having strange issues when I first rooted the stock EC05, but that vanished when I installed a custom rom. Nothing like this though.
I had 2 Epics do this exact same thing. Took them back got brand new ones from the store. The latest one I have started not sending texts a few days ago, which it would receive them fine and everything else worked it just stop sending texts. Hard reset wouldn't fix it so after a call to sprint and them "refreshing" my phone it worked. Then 2 days ago after taking it off the charger it went on roam and stayed that way all day. Wouldn't go off roam after battery pulls or restarts, so I odined fresh EC05 and it still was stuck in roam. I am running EC05 stock rooted, and wife's phone is completely stock and it does weird stuff too. Now I am waiting I guess for a refurb since I am past my 30 days. My Epic does weird stuff too and I tried to get them to let me get something else but they won't yet which is really disappointing since I just started service with Sprint 6 weeks ago. I am not really impressed with the service or phone so far and definately thinking I should have never came to Sprint.
Well the phone is back to normal today. It did it yesterday as well though. I can't wait until Sprint gets a good Windows Phone 7 device, 200 for the Arrive without 4g and a small screen still is ridiculous. I only got this phone as a stop gap and I really dislike Android the more I use it. Thank you for your help.

The official Twitter app causes a lot of problems in the Epic. I couldn't send text, watch videos, or listen to music. After finding a post here mentioning it I uninstalled Twitter and now I have no problems. The official twitter app could be the problem. I wouldn't out right blame android or sprint for the problems of one phone that may potentially be caused by one app.

I thought of that too, but after using Oden to get back to EC05 and having done mutiple hard resets that rules out the twitter app or any other app. Plus that don't explain why it went on roam and even using oden and doing mutiple hard resets wouldn't fix that either. Today it quit sending texts again and would not keep a data connection until I did 2 factory resets and all I have is stock apps nothing more. I haven't had this phone rooted for over a week now because of all the problems. Thanks for suggesting but its not the twitter app its definately my phone and possibly sprints network.
My first epic also had an issue similar to this, it wouldn't charge and the few tims it would whenever id unplug it , it would still say it was charging and have radom reboots. Also when it died the only way to turn it on was to take out the battery and plug it in , then put he battery in.
Long story short try ad get it replaced.

I got another 1 that they sent to the repair store and I am guessing its gonna be a refurb, so after work I gotta swing by and switch them out and see how long its gonna last.
Just for the hell of it I guess I will take it to the local Western Talk store, they don't ask any questions and just replace the phone. I am just pissed that I will have to pay 35 damn dollars because of Sprint's new rules.
Hello,
My HTC EVO 4g keeps randomly restarting and when the phone is under heavy usage is reboots. I'm going to go into a Spring store today and try and get a new phone as I have the TEP plan.
I currently have CM7 installed on my device. When I bring it in to the Sprint store, should I have the stock ROM installed on there? Or does it not matter?
Thanks for your time and answers!

Well that would suck... you're going to end up getting a phone that cannot be rooted (for now) and won't be installing CM7. What you really should do is instal the rooted OTA and see if you can hack that for a couple of days first... If not, debate how long you can put up with the reboots.
Thanks for the reply, but at this point, I really just need a phone that works.
Playing games, surfing the web, or using Maps will restart the phone.
I just need to know if they won't take the phone cause it's been "rooted".
Just in root leave s off for someone in the future

Is anyone at the Sprint store going to freak out and not take the phone back if I don't have stock ROM?
It's ALWAYS recommended to unroot and return to stock before going into a sprint store. Yes, SOME people have gotten lucky and not got caught. But if you do get caught being rooted, they will flag your phone and you will NEVER get it fixed. It literally takes 5 minutes to unroot, just do it just to be safe.
On a side note, are you sure your problems aren't related to the CM7 rom you have? ANY custom rom will have problems. You should try flashing back to stock rom, or at least a Sense rom and see if you still have the same problem.
Okay, thanks for the advice!
Yes, I have tried other ROMs, and I still experience the issue. I've tried Fresh and will be flashing stock ROM to see if that helps.
I've gotten 3 replacements, I leave them s-off and they never check that. I do however flash a stock rom first just so they don't give me any sh*t. And I got lucky last week, my replacement phone came with 2.3 on it but it was s-off. You may get lucky too
We're comin from a pure power source.
Since you're going to be stuck on the stock ROM anyway if you replace it, you might want to first try installing the stock rooted ROM from here and run it for a few days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133379
It's quite possible that something in your setup on CM7 is causing the phone to overheat. Or it could be any number of things that might have nothing to do with hardware. Before you give up a rootable phone for one that can't be, you might as well try the stock ROM first. If that clears things up, you can experiment to find the culprit.

EXACTLY! If you're having software issues and you're running a custom ROM, before even considering exchanging the phone you should revert to stock to see if the problem truly lies within the hardware itself or the ROM you are using. As far as unrooting, I would not unroot before taking it to Sprint should you have to resort to that. Just flash a stock rooted ROM and you should be fine.

I thought gingerbread was going to fix the Atrix random reboot issue. Well it has not. Late last night while using the Atrix, poof. It restarted itself. This is probably my fourth Atrix, but it has lasted the longest without a reboot.

It has happened to me atleast twice now ever since updating OTA to Gingerbread.
Phone is just rooted nothing else.
I have never experience this problem on stock or custom roms. You don't have any custom kernels installed, such as overclocking, do you?
In my experience (maybe twice in a month) this happens when there is signal/reception, but no data, and you start pushing the phone my trying multiple data enabled apps.
On both occasions I had full bars/signal yet no data (stupid telco) or very slow data, in frustration I was hitting refresh, opening other apps to kill time / see if it was app or network problem etc. then BAM. Kinda like how a corporate windows build loses its mind if it loses its connection to its domain resources.
Annoying
I had this issue before, and it was an issue with the phone itself not the software. If it is still within your 90 days return it for a new one and that should fix your problem.

no chance for me, in Australia, grey market import
In all honesty not a big deal if it doesn't happen too often
I'm on stock everything on my Atrix. I font think swapping the phone works, like I said this is my fourth Atrix lol.
My reboots happen at random. No specifics are the same at anytime. If I do swap it again though it will be for another phone entirely, but for what I don't know. I know a few people with the Inspire and they've had their problems. I know one person with the Infuse who has yet to have an issue, but either way I'm taking a huge downgrade.

Reboots
Anyone got a solution? I just updated Tuesday and I have had many random reboots. I am having the reboot 3-4 times a day. I never had the issue prior to Gingerbread.
I haven't had any reboot issues on mine nor my GF's, but I agree that it seems to be either the phone or a faulty app.
I know someone that had 2 from early batches and finally had a stable one after returning the others and hasn't complained of any issues since then.
Another co-worker had issues but uninstalled an app that kept force closing and never had the reboot issues come back.
One other thing to try is a factory reset...if it hasn't been attempted yet.
just had my first reboot over the weekend. other than that its not rebooted yet. but its only a week old.
Still running official stock + root only and had a random reboot. A couple of minutes later I got a text and when to open and it rebooted again.
First one since I updated basically as soon as the ota file was posted.
Even stock isnt perfect. Even the "magical" iPhone crashes.
It's the nature of software to crash when it starts getting very complex. Not to excuse it, as some sort of report will eventually come Google's way, but it's not a big surprise.
did take the update the normal way or did uflash by custom recovery?

Yeah I know. Not complaining or anything. Just letting it be known that I had one for the first time. I had not seen any reported yet. But then again I stopped reading the issue / complaints thread due to the fact that it was full of nonsense IMHO
Since you're rooted you can backup and try doing a cache / factory / dalvik wipe and try to restore the official ROM that you can find in the stickies.
Did you wipe when you got your original OTA update?
I got many random reboots, the phone is not rooted. First I got it after the update during a call so I did a factory reset and since then I haven't got reboots during calls but I get like 2 reboots each day while the phone is idle
