I got the update notification. downloaded it, it reboots and starts installing
then it just says "error"
I rebooted, cleared google framework services and updated again - "error"
used "full unroot" on SuperSU - "error"
p.s. I'm on stock Google 4.2.2 Firmware, rooted (not any more) and unlocked bootloader with TWRP
How does it say "error" in the installer?

I don't know how. can I do it through TWRP or do I need ADB on my laptop (and if so, can I get it without the entire SDK)?
Thanks
You can use the flasher here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamjwr66v

You have to use Volume up and power on that screen until it unlocks, it does not have a backup option anyway unfortunately so you need a custom recovery but there is no point.
What I mean is that this flasher will wipe EVERYTHING including internal storage and place stock recovery.

ah that worked.
downloaded the file from there, extracted it. removed the -w option and ran it.
at first fastboot said "waiting for device" so I rebooted the phone with vol down + power, then plugged it in via USB and it updated
now running 4.3
thanks for your help

It seems you have CWM or some such installed over the stock recovery, just flash the recovery to stock or use CWM and flash to 4.2.1 that way

Have you manually altered any system files or manually installed or overwritten a system app? That gives me the same error.

I take it when you originally flashed to CWM, you never backed up your stock recovery? If not then you can flash back to stock with the "nakasig" image from here - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#nakasig scroll down to Nexus 7.
Same problem but not rooted
I got the same problem aswell. Altough i did never root my Nexus 7. I got this error as fast as i wanted to update the device. i have tried to push the update to it via the computer via android sdk (Manual update) It wont work. I get the error following "Assert failed: apply_patch_check (emmc:/Dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by_name/lynx 500736" and so on. The version is "JZO54K". The Nexus 7 model is a 32 gb WIFI version. Any solution?
I tried putting it in system/apps and set permissions but it doesn't show up after a reboot. Anyone able to get this to work?

do they have a version of "halo"? disable it if they do, then try again. it might be something with miui, are other miui users having the same issue?

I figured it was the one version if Miui that was causing it. Something to do with the gapps that was posted with it caused a few apps to not show up

Hello! I am not wanting to restore my device atm, but I wanted to extract the image etc in case I need it in the future.
But for the recovery.img and system.img it says it was last editted 31-12-2008. How is that possible and can I flash it however it says 31-12-2008?
And for the rest, is everything right for flashing the image to my device?

It is going to say that it is damaged or something because it uses some type of encryption to protect the file itself.
How big is the file?

Then the image is fine, it is all safe to flash.
If the download was corrupted then the zip file itself with all that would be corrupted and you will not be able to open or/and extract it

And I did everything right in the screen? I can just flash the six .img files?

This issue occurs to files for some random reason, the metadata date info is created by the computer by using the computer date and time so that could be why.
Yes you can flash all those files just fine.

This is a link to a flashable zip in this post.
you'll have to reflash the supersu binary again after this one as it'll break root. The post says to unroot before you run the update, but i was able to apply the update without unrooting and had to reflash supersu 1.51 after it to regain root access.
Same issue here!!

I have a D803 on Rogers. I was previously on 4.4.2, rooted with TWRP. The new OTA came down a couple of days ago, so I restored the stock recovery with a dd command in adb. Then I unrooted. The OTA will not install due to a "suspected root" error. So I gave up on the OTA and tried to get back to where I was. Trouble is, recovery mode is just the green android with a red triangle and nothing else. No options, no commands, nothing. Therefore ioroot25 will not work. I can't seem to do anything. I did a factory reset and this did nothing to the recovery. Help!!!
If your system is working use freegee to install a recovery again if you are rooted...
