New update today (TF300T, 10.6.1.27.1 - 20130711) - Transformer TF300T General

Received the new update OTA this morning (WW version, I am in Europe). It's still android 4.2.1, no idea about changelog yet. Just letting you know.
EDIT: Root restored successfully with Voodoo OTA

indeed I got that to , I dont see any changes yet. I noticed that my launcher is faster ? (nova)
and indeed android 4.2.1. No changelog on asus website yet.
lol I am lucky that this isn't the 4.3... Vodoo OTA rootkeeper can't keep root on 4.3.. I hope SuperSu can..

Will motochopper work on 4.3 ? who knows already ?
And I am now still on 4.2.1 with root , I restored with Vodoo to.

I searched the web manin track of this update there .... are you sure?:what:
Send to Asus TF300T 4.2.1 Stock and Galaxy S2 NFC 4.2.1 XXLSS Rooted

I received the update too, but when I installed it, after boot a message informed me the previus version was restored. At the end, I am still on 10.6.1.15.3, and I can't download the update again. Any idea? I am root by motochoper.
Sorry for my english.

Confirmed !! i update manually ....

How did you do that? I ask the ota updater for downloading the new version, but it say there is not an update.

You must download the file from Asus site

Thank you! I'm downloading it now. Do you notice any change on it? I expect some improvement on the hdmi issue.

guys,
be very careful with manual update because i lost root access and i can`t restore root with voodoo root keeper.

I have also updated my tf300t manually and my root disappeared. It was impossible to restore root by "OTA Voodoo Rootkeeper"! Now I'm trying to root my transformer with "motochopper" again, but it doesn't work... Any ideas?

This has now hit the Asus site. Anyone got feedback on how this reacts with twrp recovery.

Can people clarify?
OTA update does not kill rootkeeper, but manual does?

In my case it was impossible to update via OTA, there was a failure and update option disappeared from menu, even when refreshing for update. So I had to update transformer manually.

I was rooted with motochopper and I did an OTA update, lost root, and can not get it back with motochopper.
I am returning to the previous firmware until a solution appears.

Let us know when you will finish downgrade successfully and how did you do that, please.

I got the update automatically. (And restored root with voodoo)
Anyone have a changelog?
This is all I see:
ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.6.1.27.1 Only for US SKU (Android 4.2)
Steps of Update:
1. Check SW version of your ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T*
2. Download ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.6.1.27.1 Only for US SKU and Update version of SOP (From “Manual” Item)
※Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version.
Wrong SKU may cause update failure, You can only update your SW version on the Same SKU
*How to check SW version of your ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T?
Path: [Settings]-->[About tablet]-->Build number
Example: You should be able to see the build number CN_epad-9.X.X.X_2012xxxx, where “CN” means SKU.

I copied the last firmware (still on Asus site) on a FAT32 sdcard, after I unziped it one level. When I plugged in the sdcard, instantly the message for downgrading appeared. It finished in some minutes, and then I restored root with motochopper.
Next step, I made a backup of root with Voodoo, and now I am updating again to the latest firmware to see if voodoo will bring the root access back.
I will keep you in touch.
[EDIT]
So, after updating to the latest firmware, I restored root access with voodoo.
This means, it is possible to keep root access, but please use voodoo before updating.

Thank you a lot! Now is my turn to do the same. I don't have a change log but it seems to me, that new soft is faster and smoother, so it would be great if root will work in my case as well.

[UPDATE] CWM flashable ASUS update for ICS -- updated US, TW and WW version

As it says the update for ASUS ICS, but CWM flashable.
*WARNING* If you are rooted, you will need OTA rootkeeper from Market to flash this patch, or flash superuser after rebooting at least once. Currently US and WW ROMs only.
--If someone has an update from another version (CN, etc.) that they want to use, PM me with a link to the file and I can build/edit a script for that too and add it in--
You should be on an odexed stock ROM (rooted of-course) in order for this to work. If you are on a custom ROM, don't bother, it won't work for you. You will need to wait for the dev of your ROM to make a patch or upgrade.
I set this up to only flash the kernal and the patches. Recovery will not be effected. This is confirmed working for me.
The US version -- http://www.mediafire.com/?3aa16qy7sh4t9m4
The WW version -- credit to Lizard -- http://www.mediafire.com/?nw4zgwvl3yug0tw
The TW version -- thanks to wai43 for the files -- http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cfq6d5lug4q4sd8
I will not be responsible if you brick your tablet. This patch worked fine for me, but may not work for others.
If I'm on stock rooted ics... Should I full wipe? Or just wipe cache and flash over? Thanks

I didn't wipe anything. It worked fine for me. It works just like a normal update. You may need to be sure to have all the factory installed files though. I did the update from a full stock, rooted ROM. Worked great.
You sir are awesome. Worked perfectly.
For those like mE that edited thier system.
1. I flashed ics full over my set up to restore it without losing my settings.
2. Root keeper to keep root.
3. Flashed this update.
4. Used root keeper to restore root.
5. Profit????

Honestly, I don't know if we can profit from this... lol, but thanks is just fine. I've been dabbling in this crap for years, but I had to go back to the drawing board to get that script to work right. I hope that ASUS has their crap together and don't release a bunch of patches over the next few months, that would suck for all the devs. It is supposed to have some benefits, but I've been playing with this for a few hours and haven't seen anything amazing yet... I'm working on some thing based on this and will release soon.
BTW, for those with random reboot issues, I have yet to have experienced that -- since the original update. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I didn't have the reboot error either. I wasn't even going to install the update. But since you made it easy....
Thanks for the uneventful update.
I HAVE experienced RR on ICS; will see what happens.
The poll in the other thread does not lead me to believe that this update fixes all the problems that lead to random reboots.
Anyway, thanks.
Btw, I tried to capture the update blob but after I renamed it, it disappeared from the /cache
I was just curious as to what you did to the update to defang it.
Is removing the recovery enough?
Does it also carry a bootloader update which you also have to remove?

I backed up su with OTA RootKeeper then rebooted into CWR. I flashed the zip, rebooted and let the update "optimize [my] apps". Once that was done I was greeted with my usual homescreen. A toast notification informed me WebKey was granted SuperUser permission, as always happens on bootup.
Surprised, I launched SuperUser and saw a corresponding new entry in the log. I double checked my current version of su, which was found to be current. I'm assuming that a "No newer version of su available" means su (and thus root) wasn't removed during the upgrade.
I next launched OTA RootKeeper which oddly reported my TF101 was no longer rooted. Nonetheless I hit RESTORE and root is back: or rather OTA RootKeeper is happy now.

Sharpe thank you for this zip. I have a US B80 and the stupid update would start to install and then after getting about a 1/4 of the way it would freeze on the android with the exclamation point. Your zip solved that problem and so far no reboots or any weirdness. I do have one question about the update though, how do I stop the tablet from trying to take the OTA(it is persistent).
Thanks

My tablet doesn't see the ICS OTA update

Hello,
I'm trying to check for the ICS OTA update for my Iconia A500 but i keep getting the "Your device is up to date" answer since 2 days.
My A500 was never rooted, it is running the official 3.2.1 ROM, and was only updated with all previous official OTA Acer updates. More details here below:
Model Number: A500
Android Version: 3.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.36.3+
Build Number: Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1
I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall the "ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement" app from the Google Play store but it does not work either.
Any idea why my table can't see the official ICS OTA updated?
Thanks
Be patient maximum 2 more days , it will update soon.

Yes, as mentioned, I also tried to uninstall and re-install the Acer "ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement" application from Google Play but the OTA update is still not visible
I also do not have a System Update under the system settings option. I am rooted and did have flexreaper ics, but went back to stock 3.2.1 with root and busybox..... but no update option showing. Any way to fix this?
No Joy as well
I have not received the update as of yet. I am sure it will update. I wonder if they have delayed the update due to some of the issues I have been reading about the past day.
no ics yet?
any idea what's up with the 1/8th of us without ICS update?

I am having the same problem. I downgraded back to Honeycomb 3.2.1 and then unrooted using the ROM Manager app... I'm just confused and a little disappointed that this isn't working. I guess I shouldn't have jumped the gun and used the flexreaper rom early :/
i was having the same problem but it was me being lazy and don't want to wifi OTA from 3.01 to ICS. it turned out the 3.2 stock rom i have flashed always get the message of "your device is up to date". so i simply do a full restore of my original system and it OTA without problem. hope this would help out some of you stuck on the "your device is up to date". i noticed my updated stock rom is kept at GEN2 and GEN 2 is for US. so you guys could try to flash with the stock Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2 rom and see if it would solve your problem if you never backed up your original system. Below is the link with all the stock available thanks to vache. i forgot to mention that the stock 3.2 i had flash is GEN1 that gives me the message of "device already up to date". after i wifi OTA from my original stock system 3.01 to ICS, i noticed they all have GEN2 after it.

OK, being fedup of waiting for the OTA update, I did the update manually myself. I've tried first to use the 3.2 GEN2 update then tried to run OTA but it did not worked ("your device is up to date"). So the only solution left was to do the update using the ICS update.zip that was available in the post URL you mentionned. And now my tablet is up and running with ICS.
Thanks a lot to all for your help and especially to chris8599

new OTA update

Got a an update today for my US tf300. It failed like it always does since I'm root and now I can't redownload or try to install again, like it always does.
So for the ones who get the ota, please upload the file! It should be in /Cache
It will be a few days before a full flash is out.
Want proof? I can show a screenshot but it doesn't say anything besides an update is out. I couldn't get the date in the screenshot. Just take my word for it.
Side note: clearing cache and data for the dm and cm client does not work if an ota fails at install. Stop telling people it does.
i got the update
I have the update installed, I don't see any changes right now. Will advise if anything comes up.
I will try to pull it off of my cache & upload to all.

I also made a post about the ota update today. Unfortunately for you I already installed the update and my cache is empty. Sorry.

update 10.4.2.13... Kept my root as well. I seriously hope it stabilizes the LAGGY JB update.
Update worked and root restored.
Steps taken:
- Unfroze all apps
- Confirmed root backup existed, then temp unrooted.
- Rebooted
- Applied update
- Re-applied root

Well, I can report that the new update seems to have fixed the camera issue that had popped after the last update (JellyBean).
Before I couldn't take more than two or so pictures before I got a "messed" up picture or a all green picture. I just took 10 consecutive pictures with no issues.
Can anyone that had LAGGY JB before report what they see and if any of it is fixed? I'll post my results after I have played around with it enough too.
Got the OTA update in România, installed it just fine. I'll see if anything is different (the only thing mentioned was "stability fixes" or something like that). Anyway, Asus moved quickly .
Later edit: Guys, don't forget to do a cold boot after each update.

Take a look at the logfile here in /cache/recovery . IT will tell you WHY it failed. You can follow this thread to reapply the OTA manually BUT you will need to find the dlpkgfile matching this update. Someone will post it.... If they haven't already.

Yes, I also received the OTA update, right now. At the first sight, no difference. But using it you will see some improvements, I hope. I'm playing with it just half an hour, but I've noticed at least one change for good: the streaming internet TV works well again. I can see the motion picture in SPB TV app that broadcasted only voice after the first JB update.
But the MyLibrary remained buggy It shows the cover pages of the books, but when I open one, the app closes itself...
By the way, the update must be an incremental one (not full ROM), because it was downloaded very quickly, 1-2 minutes.
Anyway I'm glad that the repair OTA came quite soon! Let's try it heavily to see what changed and what not and gather our experience here!

Finding after JB update
Got the JB update OTA today. I'm on the ww-version, stock, not rooted.
First impression: smooth running - found bug, though. The clock showing in the down right corner is not updating correctly; updates once every 10-15 minutes. System clock is and lock screen clock are OK, so it's a sw issue with this update (at least on mine). It worked as it should before the update. Did a cold boot and factory reset routine, even though the factory reset should not be necessary.
Cheers

The clock issue is actually worse on my tablet than above described: the down right clock and the clock showing when opening the "dialogue box" are showing different times. The down right clock hasn't updated for 1/2 hr now and the clock within the "box" hasn't updated for an hour. To me this is a serious error - have reported it to Asus via their website.
I used to have that clock problem on ICS.

[WARNING] BEFORE YOU UPDATE to ASUS 4.2: Can't Root or Install Custom Recovery

Hi folks,
Anyone in the know, please correct me if I'm wrong or close this thread or whatever. I just wanted to share some stuff I've seen as well as my personal experience with the new 4.2 update.
Be warned: There doesn't seem to be a surefire way to root and/or install a custom recovery yet.
This is based on advice I saw on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38992986&highlight=sit+tight#post38992986
I know this has been stated in existing threads but I figure that in the excitement to flash, some folks may grab the update and then look to older 4.1-based guides on how to root and install custom recoveries only to realize that they can't. I thought it might be beneficial to post a big fat thread right up front to serve as an easily viewable cautionary note.
I would normally say that I was burned by this excitement, but in fact I don't really mind because right now I'm mostly just using it to read books and Pocket-ized webpages. Others should take note though.

I actually did install TWRP successfully. Boots to recovery but partitions must be changed as someone else mentioned. I can't see anything on internal or external SD card. I'm going to keep messing with.
We will just have to wait. This topic is a good warning for everyone that isn't reading all the stuff that is going on the foruns.

I've just flashed TWRP from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39056433&postcount=548
Everything (except external sdcard mounting) seems to be working
How did you flash the recovery without the USB icon on the bootloader?

Bootloader is now automatically going into fastboot mode.

Fastboot is the "default mode", so you don't need to enter the USB icon. I just installed TWRP successfully.

Good to know. Would you say it's safe to "downgrade" to a previous version or even a different ROM then, or would the changed partition structure screw with the ability to do a clean wipe? Apologies if this is a n00b-sounding question.
Locked, Rooted, Factory reset, 4.2.1 OTA flashed, Still have root
I was locked and rooted on 4.1 with OTA root keeper installed and did a factory reset folowed by the 4.2.1 OTA and root keeper restored root. I have been rooted since ICS. This seems to be the only way right now to have rooted 4.2.1 on the TF300T.

So you have a rooted 4.2.1 Asus ROM?? I wonder if OTA Root keeper would work with installing the update via fastboot. Or wait, how did you install the OTA 4.2.1? If you are rooted you must be unlocked, thus, not receiving the OTA update and having to download the blob from asus website.

I rooted ICS on a locked TF300T when I first received it. Yes....it was possible to root locked ICS at that time. Then with OTA root keeper, I kept root when 4.1 OTA happened. Then OTA 4.2.1 came and I retained root again with OTA root keeper....I am still locked so I still receive Asus OTA updates.
With new twrp 2.4.4.0, you guys now can install root and custom recovery. It is tested by me and other people :good:

There is an OTA for 4.3 to an updated 4.3, has some minor fixes.
Yep fixes sound good but will wait to see if it effects bootloader / root
Regards
Damian
I can tell you for sure it removes root
It does remove root, but dosent effect the boot loader. So basicly all you have to do is re-root after you update:laugh:

Indeed looks like it took out recovery though as I cant get root back - guessing I need to do recovery again ?
