I had a similar problem. My Wifi would only work till I stopped using it (screen went off or I stopped pulling data). Then it would forget the local access points. I tried reflashing and changing my ROM. I formatted everything including the SD card. I finally fixed it by downgrading back to MDC and stock recovery. I took the MDL OTA (unrooted/stock recovery) and then flashed back to MF9 (manual not OTA) and then re-rooting it using ChainFire-Autoroot.
QBKing has a write up on how to do this for the MDL to MF9.
ChainFire-Auto root is posted in almost every other thread.
Doing it this method I did not have to format my Data partation and everything runs perfectly without having to freeze anything or such.

Mobile ODIN MF9 Modem flash Now BootLoop

Device: S4 Ting/Sprint
TWRP 2.6.0.0
CM 10.1
All MDC
I just installed Mobile ODIN from the Play store and used it to flash MF9 Modem and Modem #2
It rebooted into the Green download mode, I held the power off... it rebooted into the Mobile ODIN Blue android mode and said it flashed the Modem and Modem #2 then it got stuck on the Samsung screen for over 2 mins. I held the power button it rebooted and whent to the Samsung screen and now will never get past the Samsung screen.
I tried booting in to the recovery, wiping everything and then reinstalling CM 10.1 no luck..... I only have Linux computers.... is there any way for me to fix this?
I plan on installing Win 7 on a spair hdd and then use Odin3 to flash the whole device to MF9. Dose that sound like a good plan to you?

You have a good plan, just remember in the future not to flash modem with mobile Odin. It doesn't flash modem. I found that out the hard way also.

Wow, that took me about 10 hours to fix my phone
After installing Win 7 on a spar hdd I reinstalled the MF9 firmware with Odin 3.07... still bootloop with newest CM 10.1
Then I tried 3 times to download the compete deodexed rooted stock MF9 download keep failing or the md5 was wrong, arg.
Then I downloaded the One Click Rooted Stock MDC. That took 2hr's to download becuase it would not go faster then about 220KBs, arg.
Installed the full rooted MDC using the One Click Odin program, and my phone booted However Baseband was still saying MF9, strange. Wifi would not work, probably because of the firmware miss-match.
I then downloaded the Tri Force ROM and 3.1 update. That's all MF9 TW and now everything works as it should
I think I'll just stick with this Tri Force rom for awhile now... I've had my fill of Odin

device not working properly after flashing cm rom

I upgraded to 4.3 and then i tried to flash a new rom which ended up messing my phone up badly. Luckily i had a back up but for some reason when i restore it it says all may apps stop working so then i have to do a factory reset. I do that and now my wifi will not turn on, my sound doesnt work properly, and neither does making phone calls. ive tried everything i know. i was also wonder if it was possible to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.
Which firmware were you on? MJA or MK2? If you were on MK2 try flashing the MK2 firmware off of sammobile thru Odin and see if that helps.. And no, you can not downgrade from 4.3 unfortunately...

I've had my WiFi get stuck off as well, which required me to replace the ROM on the phone to resolve.
Anyhow, until you're ready to reformat your phone you could following steps in the link below to have your phone download apps from the store without wifi:

You can also check to ensure background data is on:

[Q] s4 nj4 stock freezes, no sound, reboots and sorrow

My s4 (at&t i337) was rooted (started on ni1) then soft bricked, I used odin 3.09 to unbrick it (ended on baseband nb1). I started to root it once again but forgot to flash the nc1 kernal before using towel root thus my issues began. My s4 freezes half the time at the lock screen/ lets me unlock the phone only to bring me to a frozen black bacground (apps present) then back to the lock screen. I've tried using odin to flash stock images and slideloading ota updates yet my problem continues. Is there a step im missing or is this game over for my s4

The freezing has stopped but the sound issue contines, if i reboot the phone a few times itll work then stop or if i make a couple phone calls ill get this crazy high pitched sound then the sound will stop again.
Bump. I've installed lollipop 5.0 to my s4 and still the issue presist. I've Odin'd back to nb1 an
d taken each up date one by one no jumping ahead. I've factory reset Wiped the cache repatriationed everything I could think of and nothing.

[Q] Lost wi-fi when going to 4.4.4 from rooted 4.42- can't get it back

I rooted to 4.4.2 and it went fine- then I realized I had lost wi-fi.
I have tried to restore and tried using odin and zip files to install a stock rom after I found a similar problem with link on
Sprint forums saying it will fix the ""button won't stay on" but the fix only works if the device is in stock rom.
answer on Sprint forum says baseband version was mk2 needs to be nae.
Return the phone to stock, run the fix for the wi-fi and then re-root.
I have downloaded and ran several roms that say they are stock- I've factory reset, cleared cache, no matter what I do,
I end up with a rooted device in 4.4.2 and no wi-fi. If I could just get the wi-fi back I would take it at this point
This was just a little quick upgrade that turned bad and long
The Sprint forum had a link to get it to nae, but wont work if rooted., so need to put the phone back to stock- run the patch and then can upgrade to kit kat again
TLDR: I cannot get my Sprint s4 back to any version that isn't rooted. I have tried several (lots) of roms that say" stock-unrooted" rom,
Never goes back to stock- stays rooted without wifi-
Ran a rom VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_SPR but when I install I get msge "ifooter is wring signature invalid" - and it fails.
reformatted the sd card, tried different roms and get some message and it stays rooted and no wifi.
TLDR: need to get stock rom so I can get back wi-fi and then root the whole thing. as 4.4.2 Or 4 , if it exists)
Any options and any ideas as to where or what to do?
EDIT: for clarity cause I am not making much sense at this point
Thanks
Heh... a TL;DR for a TL;DR... the internet is becoming one crazy place.

Maybe a dumb question, but why not just unroot first, then?
