I'm on a rooted Nexus 4 with stock 4.3. Could somebody please help me out with a few questions?
First of all, how do I dismiss a notification that says "This app is currently running. Touch here for more info" without completely disabling notifications for that app? Like in the first attached picture.
Second, when 4.3 leaked, there were all these screenshots of a Notifications menu and of a Notification History menu. I can't seem to find this anywhere within Settings. Where can I find either of these? Like in the second attached picture.
now how did this post end up in the Nexus 10 forum???? I'm pretty sure I created a new thread in the Nexus 4 forum...
Well I guess the answers would be the same, unless the Nexus 10 handles notifications completely differently from the Nexus 4?

When these notifications open the first thing I do is to kill the app and then open again lager by myself . Always solved my issue

Sure, use a different launcher.
If you are looking for general info... READ... there are lots of threads and if you are waiting for your device to show up, what else do you have to do with your time.
Then when it arrives, you will have all that info you already gleamed out of the forums and hit the road running.
OR, you can wait until you get your device and then ask a ton of questions which have already been answered be you now need the info right away.

The nav bar as gnex users call it

I am very curious about something that really isn't a big deal.. I don't have a S4 yet, I have a Galaxy Nexus. When I get a text message I have 3 options in the drop down notification shade. Reply, Read, Call or something like that. I have had ROMs on this phone since I got it so I am not sure what options are suppose to be in the notification shade when you get a text message on Jelly Bean phones. So when you guys get a text, by pulling down the notification shade what are the options you have if any? Thanks!
I personally don't get any options It simply shows the persons name, and the first part of the text (or amount of texts if more than one)
If you tap on it it opens the person - no options like the above.
You may find different SMS apps give more options in the notification bar and they have been incorporated into the roms you have been using

You can but that just shows more of the message. Doesn't give any options.

Lets post up some updates we have found with the Sense 4.2.2 update.
Outside of the primarily known ones like the quick settings here is one great one I noticed.
App: Gallery
Change: Highlights
They revamped the song/style selection for the video highlights as well as added about 5 more. Very very happy with this update as I use this quite often

I'd like to know if you can link your ps3 controller via a usb-otg kabel after the update, as this was not supported on the 4.1.2 stock rom.

hey, thanks for reporting this, this is very nice! i've a question, in the gallery app, can you try to open an image go to Edit>Effects then press the 3 dot menu button, and see if there's an option to "Edit effect" i wonder if HTC added this after removing it from an older firmware, thanks!

No, you are able to set (for example) bbc on program 3 if its 3 on your receiver/tv.
On 4.1.2 you are not able to customize the order of the programs
They also fixed the select content issue so stuff that you don't want in your zoe is actually not included anymore

There is already a 4.2.2 update thread. Please discuss that there. Having multiple threads makes forum very hard to follow.
I remember recently that there was an alternative to LightFlow being featured somewhere (forget if it was XDA or Reddit or somewhere else).
Does anyone remember it? I believe it was a bit more lightweight than LF.
EDIT: Decided to make this the general Nexus 5 LightFlow thread since that's what it pretty much became.

I could find and try this one only.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
But eventually I moved back to light flow because it works better for me in KitKat.
I prefer light flow. I like being able to set it to dismiss the light as soon as I turn my screen on. Quickest way to get the light to stop blinking.

I know that 4.3 brought in persistent notifications like with apps like LF. Still no work around with hiding it?

How about getting the led to be always on?
I've always liked it better than pulsing, and set it up like that in the Galaxy Nexus, but can't get it to work on the N5 yet.
is it worth having root mode on as well ?

I see the very first app i ever purchased on the android market for my old N1 is still getting updates (sept 2013).... TrackBall Alert Pro... also Trackball Alert..
updates say it will work with any trackball (hah i miss that thing) and RGB LED.. from what i remember it was a pretty minimal app that let you choose colours/flash rate/etc...

There's an option in each notification under the "light" tab for "LED flash rate" for "always on / very slow pulse". I have it that way for when my phone is charging.

Hello everyone!
I just updated my Nexus 4 to Android 4.4, but it seems there has changed as good as nothing. (I was running Nova Launcher when I was updating, if that is relevant).
I don't find any of the new functions of the new android version: normally you can just swipe from the left to acces google now, but not on my Nexus. Everything seems to be just like android 4.3: the appdrawer, the homescreens, ... There are only a few things that have actually changed: the icons, the settings menu and the lockscreen.
I thought the problem could have been that I was running Nova Launcher while installing the update.
Does someone know what I can do to have the full Kitkat experience? I've already deleted Nova Launcher by now and the stock Launcher is set as default.
Could a clean install help me out?
PS: I can post some screenshots later if my explanation here isn't clear.
Thanks in advance!
Are you sure you updated? And are you sure you set Google search as your launcher in the launcher settings?
Sent from my N4, wanna know what I am doing? Check http://team-fun.eu
Search for and install Googlehome.apk
Nexus 4 KitKat update is different from Nexus 5. For example 4 is missing the new Google Experience launcher, transparent lockscreen. For GEL just install Google Home. For full transparent lockscreen flash this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527525.
Also if you like Nova launcher, join Nova launcher beta group on Google+ and became a tester. Nova beta supports transparent bars (you need enable it in settings).

Which will direct then to all of the threads with the same content, of which they will choose the wrong one to use. This will result in endless..... Never mind. I don't know why I'm even bothering.

I'm not sure why you bothered ether since we are both technically in the right.
Forget search it's lately almost always at the top of general (excluding sticky threads). If you can find how to post a new thread I'm sure you can find a highly active thread in general.

It's just that the constant “use the search” type of replies are about as effective as the war on drugs. You can take a dealer or user off the streets, but that will not do anything to actually impact the level of drug use or distribution. Likewise, there will always be people who don't use the search, so why not just ignore them so the thread dies, or actually offer a helpful response.
I'm more in the right. But that's probably because I'm awesome.
