LightFlow discussion - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

I remember recently that there was an alternative to LightFlow being featured somewhere (forget if it was XDA or Reddit or somewhere else).
Does anyone remember it? I believe it was a bit more lightweight than LF.
EDIT: Decided to make this the general Nexus 5 LightFlow thread since that's what it pretty much became.

I could find and try this one only.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanager
But eventually I moved back to light flow because it works better for me in KitKat.

I prefer light flow. I like being able to set it to dismiss the light as soon as I turn my screen on. Quickest way to get the light to stop blinking.

I know that 4.3 brought in persistent notifications like with apps like LF. Still no work around with hiding it?

Uncheck the foreground option in settings. I always uncheck that and I've never seen any difference, except the persistent notification goes away.

How about getting the led to be always on?
I've always liked it better than pulsing, and set it up like that in the Galaxy Nexus, but can't get it to work on the N5 yet.

is it worth having root mode on as well ?

I see the very first app i ever purchased on the android market for my old N1 is still getting updates (sept 2013).... TrackBall Alert Pro... also Trackball Alert..
updates say it will work with any trackball (hah i miss that thing) and RGB LED.. from what i remember it was a pretty minimal app that let you choose colours/flash rate/etc...

There's an option in each notification under the "light" tab for "LED flash rate" for "always on / very slow pulse". I have it that way for when my phone is charging.

[Q] app that vibrates every 5 minutes if notifications active

Hey guys,
i'm searching for an application or built in option that lets my phone vibrate every x minutes if there are any pending notifications that i did not react to.
is there anything out there that could fit my needs?
didn't find any "repeat"-funciton in tasker either.

there is an app out in the dev sections here for galaxy s that uses the screen as LED notification sort of
ill have a look this week at coding something as its should only use a few Broadcast Receivers and not be too complex
I think this would be a better idea then the noled app to be honest!

Is there any news on this app?
maybe we could entince the developer of NoLED to include Vibration
Something like 'notify' on the mAemo platform would be cool. Had an n900 which had multi coloured configurable led but it was always nice to have audio notify every 5 mins for missed calls and texts.

Notifications

OK I'm really frustrated trying to find a solution. Is there a way to get the screen to light up for a few seconds to a minute or two or keep the soft keys on the Note to light up and blink interval when I get any form of notification, mostly need for messages, miss calls and kick messages and emails. I have tried every kind of app, Noled, MMF, Tasker and a few others. The closest I got to was Llama, which lights the screen up but only for a few seconds like less than 3 seconds.
Really need a solution fast, I keep missing my notifications until for more than an hour, I am on PA rom 0.4a and not sure if BLN works, installed the app but doesn't seem to work, someone please solve this issue for me and the rest suffering in silence.
So surprised how such a basic function of screen lighting up when there is a new notification was available in as old phones as my previous N97mini but can't even have it decently working by downloading apps from the play store. I am so tried of Googling, have been doing so for several hours and I am sick of it. Someone with the solution or with their personal solution please post on this thread and share.
Sorry for the rant but really need this fixed soon, once again I'm on PA rom 0.4a

Yeah, Light flow, LMT and others use the Accessibility services and only one can be on at a time I believe. Although I think if you have root it may be different with light flow.
There was a problem with past samsung phones where even though talkback was disabled the phone still announced the selection. Does this happen? In the description of the app theres a link that states Samsung fixed the issue but carriers never pushed the update fix yet.
Have you guys tried Light Manager instead to see if that works better? I like LM better than LF for my SIII, but the S4 is a different animal and LF may work better, just throwing that out there to see what you all thought

TRUE.... okay, well, hopefully both apps will be developed to work properly on the S4 soon! I know it took months for anything to happen with either one because they were trying to get data directly from Samsung - the dev of LF even went so far as to order an AT&T 747, and he lives in the UK! That would suck to have to go through again....
Oh please don't say Samsung have messed up with the accessibility service again. The leaked s3 4.2 android works quite well (without TalkBack)
Is the message actually true? Does it then go on to work (lightflow and the things it says won't)?
I hoped not to buy an s4,but if I need to to try and progress things I will.

You should be able to have many (rooted or not). I've a collection of phones and will have lightflow, tasker and many other apps running on several of those phones.
The standard android source code certainly allows for it as I've checked it out extensively.
Can someone with an s4 on hand test out the free version of light flow to see if there are issues? Thanks

Light flow enables some aspects of talk back on my AT&T galaxy s 4. When light flow is enabled in accessibility (with talk back disabled, of course), if I select a picture in the gallery app, a very annoying voice tells me, "one item selected" even if my phone is set to silent. With light flow accessibility disabled, this doesn't happen. I can only stop it if I freeze Samsung and Google tts services with titanium. I'm not sure where else the talk back is inadvertently activated due to light flow.

Light flow is far superior when it works. Many more options, like ending led on screen on, etc. With light manager I have to go into the notification drawer and dismiss the notifications to get led to stop blinking. I much prefer a quick screen on and off.
That being said, I'm using light manager for now because it doesn't have the talk back issues.

[REQ][BOUNTY] Quiet Hours or Motorola Assist (Sleeping)

Looking for the simple UX, minimal UI and 100% functionality that Quiet Hours (CM10+) or Motorola Assist (4.2+ on MotoX) provide where there are no notifications, no LED, no vibration and only phone calls allowed during set hours. Both seem seem to be integrated at the system level to provide the user with minimal interruption for the set hours.
Not sure if this is as simple as pulling something out of CM/AOSP or looking at the Motorola Assist .apk or what.
I got $20 on this for anyone who can do it. If anyone else is interested, please add your pledge.
Why don't you just get an app like Llama (can be found on the Play Store) and set specific hours or locations, whatever you choose, to enable a silent profile with only calls coming thru. This isn't that difficult... simple free apk called Llama has done this for me every night since ICS.

LOTS of settings in there. Uninstalled.
If you haven't used either "Quiet hours" or Motorola "Assist", the screen shots attached show how easy it can be.
The first picture is of CM/AOSP "Quiet Hours" settings found in Settings>Sounds. As you can see, minimal in settings and it works.
The second/third pictures is of Motorola "Assist" on the MotoX. The third picture is the first screen you are given, where the second screen allows you to pick how calls are handled. Again, minimal and it works.
I appreciate the suggestions, but these two examples of what I would like to see are what I would like to see.
Before I fell in love with Tasker, I used Timeriffic, which has a super easy layout. I've also run CM, so I'm familiar with those settings, but really Timeriffic is more powerful (without being confusing)

The single biggest function I am looking for is something that allows only for calls (whether the first call or second) to come through during set hours 11pm-6am. Timeriffic doesn't recognize my XPosed framework and thinks that my phone and notification volumes are linked, where I have separated them. Unless Timeriffic can recognize this separation, I won't be able to get it to do what I want, which is to have no notifications between 11pm-6am, except for phone calls.

Here, try this. I made a Tasker app that you install and click the icon and it will set the volumes to the presets shown in the screenshot. Lemme know if you need anything changed, or want another app to revert to your normal volume settings. You dont need the actual Tasker app installed to use this, either.

[Q] Read LED Notifications

Hi all. I have been doing some searching around for a way to get the rear LED to light up in any way shape or form for apps, specifically SMS.
Has anyone found a way to get it on AT ALL using apps like Light Flow or Light Manager? Stock or a custom ROM? If you have gotten it on in anyway at all, please let me know! (And how you did it please)
I spent some time emailing with the LightFlow dev last night too, and he is interested in getting control over it too. So anything to get it on is great.
Thanks everyone!

Just tried, same results.
I have it half on with this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939
Working on full access. Ill keep everyone updated.
To use that app install it and enable it in accessibility. Then open the app and go to auto locate. Choose your LED here. "button-backlight1" is for the left, "button-backlight2" is for the right. It will probably just show you up to the word "button: though. But it appears twice, once on the left of the screen, once on the right. Choose either side. And that's it. It will flash when you get a notification.

I sent him an email about this a few minutes ago. But light flow also only lights up half of the ring, the right side to be specific. If you use the app I linked above you can get either half (left or right) working and it blinks!
Ill let you know any updates I get, but at least it is half blinking now!
Worked some more with the light flow dev. We have gotten the FULL led ring to light up! It is currently solid. Ill post more as it develops.
In the meantime here is a picture of my device, using lightflow, when I receive an SMS. Enjoy for now!
