[Q] Roms with same features? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I'm wondering if there are any roms out there for the AT&T Galaxy S4 that give a stock android experience, but keep the same features such as air view and air gestures and so on.

Most all have that, coming form a stock base. TW roms are the ones you would look at.
I list a bunch in my guide.

[Q] S-Pen Support in custom ROMs

Hoping someone in the know may be able to advise on this.
For those of us who are not fans of TouchWiz, is it likely that putting non-TouchWiz roms on the Note will remove support for some or all of the S-pen's features? I know that ICS has native stylus support but some of the S-pen features (e.g. screen shot, S-note software etc) seem custom.
Could these be baked into other roms (CM, MIUI, AOSP etc) or is it likely to be one or the other (S-pen or custom rom)?

I understand that the SDK allows third-party apps to communicate with the S-pen, but does it also allow the S-pen I/O framework to be put into a custom rom? Those two things seem to come from opposite sides of the equation.

There are lots of custom roms that give best of both worlds.
I like vanilla roms but dont want to miss some of the good feature in samsung roms.
In Galaxy SII section there are some good roms that have the vanilla rom but enable users to install samsung features.
So I am hopeful if we can get more developers in

Best ROM for my needs? What are my options?

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 and I am looking for a ROM to replace the carrier version for the following reasons: bloatware, carrier IQ keylogger, and a dislike of TouchWiz. However, I want to keep certain features unique to the S4, which are Airview, Air Gesture, Smart Stay, and Multi Window. How exactly do custom ROMs work? Am I supposed to look for a ROM that has all the features I listed (those are the only ones I need), or can I just get any S4 custom ROM and then somehow install these features through APKs?
What exactly are my options? This is my first Android phone and I really want to get to customize it to my likings.
Thanks.

Look through the OP posts of each ROM to see if it has the features you like. Generally, user reviews of each ROM can be found throughout that particular ROMs thread. Good luck.
See above, as best rom threads are summarily closed...this one shall be now too.

[Q] Suggestions for new Note 3 user?

Hey guys.
There is a very good chance I will be getting a note 3 this week. Im a pretty avid android user, currently own a Galaxy Nexus, TF700, OUYA, Nook Color, 2x Moto Droids, and a few other android devices. Im fairly familiar with android, and love the OS. The biggest issue I have had is the lack of multitasking, and this is whey I am really excited for the note 3. I typically own an android devices for about 1 hour, and then have it rooted and unlocked. I know I have a tendancy to do this with all my devices, but I dont want to get to far ahead of myself.
So in short, what suggestions do you guys have? What ROMs seem to be running the best? Will I be missing out on the "stock" experience by throwing a ROM on it? Any really cool new features that I might not know? Please, tell me what I have to look forward to.

There are tons of features in my opinion that you can only get on a Galaxy Note device. I have decided to stick with touchwiz for the multiwindow app, the aircommand and the S-planner calendar as well as their weather widget. I use the stylus all the time and that is why I believe the note is so radical different than it's competition.
I also root the phone ASAP and stick with an "improved" touchwiz version since Samsung and Verizon really limit this great device from its full potential.
Here are some good youtube videos that you can watch that show you some of the awesome features that come with the phone.

These videos pretty much give you all the features this phone has. With the new roms coming out you will get even more features.
Good luck and if you liked what I wrote hit the thanks button for me.

Now do the ROMs that are currently available still maintain touchwiz? I really want to keep the multiwindow and s-pen features, just not all the bloatware, and get some of the tweaks that roms offer
Yeah if the rom is touchwiz based you should keep all these great features. I only use touch wiz because I think what is the point of buying a phone with the stylus and if I then ROM it and turn it into an android phone like any other. But that is just my opinion.

just load CM ROMs if that's what you want
but be warned CM ROMs will render your S-Pen useless, no Air Commands (unless they added support for that without the TW stuff)

[Q] Lightweight Rom for S5?

Slim Rom (and many other developers) have not yet come up with a version for S5. I am really fed up with touchwiz though and was wondering if there is a way i can use Slim Rom version for Galaxy S3 or S4 and install it on the Galaxy S5? I don't care if that means i have to go back to older versions of Android. Or is there another light weight ROM available for the S5? I take anything that is working better than what Samsung offers us
Thks!

1.) I can understand your feelings about TouchWiz, though it is better (and much bigger) than it used to be.
2.) I don't think you can simply modify a S3 or S4 ROM, as the hardware is different, that might take some time
3.) I would hate to no longer be able to use the camera as is. I don't know (and care) about videos, but it's quite good for Photos and quite fast, too.
Best of luck
Sven
You cannot install a ROM from an S3/S4 on an S5!! Absolutely not!! If you haven't figured that out then you should avoid custom ROMs like the plague.
