Dears ,
i want to buy a new mobile , but i 'm confused between S3 GT-I9305 and S4 GT-I9505 , specially that the S4 GT-I9505 costs more than S3 with 250$ , i'm not a heavy mobile gamer , i rare to play games on mobile , all my usage for the mobile is for calls and internet , and all i need in mobile with 4g option and good battery life time , so does it worth to go for S4 GT-I9505 specially it's battery 2600 mh ?
S3 GT-I9305 vs S4 GT-I9505
i really appreciate your recommendations
Thanks
Sherif
S4's battery life kills over the S3's..
But if you're in a tight budget, you can get the i9305 instead and buy an extended battery

If buget is not a problem, than I suggest you should choose an S4 instead of the older S3 version. There are many things to be taken into account, great display, better battery life and so on...

Battery life time is of course dependant on the way you use your phone. I have also an S2 and with the stock 1600 battery was just not enough for one day of normal usage. After I replaced the battery with a 2000 one (400 mAh difference) , I was entirely pleased.
Au contraire, with my S4 GT-I9505 I don't feel the need to get a better / larger battery, as the stock one is enough for my needs which includes surfing the Web, emails, gaming, music and so on.
Now, between i9305 and i9505 you have 500 mAh difference. Sure, the screen will eat some more juice, but even so...

If you don't care about super sharp images, airview and using those gestures to browse through the websites you visit I would probably buy the S3.... There is no real difference between the 2 other than that. The 2gb ram is nice but not so noticeable when using your phone ( I believe the S3 I9305 may have come with 2gb) but the internal memory is really eaten up with the apps you will never use. What I'd do, and take into account the sluggishness of demo units, is go and try them out at a phone store and see what they're like. In the end it is your decision and YOU have to live with it...
It all depends on your preferences. I suggest you search the YouTube channel for s3 s4 comparisons. There are plenty of them.

You can buy a genuine 3000 mha battery for the i9305 and have a better battery life then the I9505.
i think i will review my budget again , and see to buy S4 or S3 with extended battery ..
Ok, from Hardware prespective , which is better S3 GT-I9305 or S4 GT-I9505 ?

I just got new S4 in black and i am loving it. I really feel for the first time that iphone has a real competition now, as the user experienced is very much improved.
Any how we all know S4 is the best, but it is very bad with battery time. I previously had a note2 device you and it usually last more than 2 days on my average use (despite of its much bigger screen size). To make S4 last longer i have turned off every extra feature (i.e air view, smart scroll and all such stuff) but still battery is draining very fast. So this is what i wanted to know...
WHICH IS THE BEST KERNEL THAT CAN HELP IN BOOSTING THE BATTERY TIME OF S4?
when i had a S2 i used Siyah, and it almost doubled my battery time, 2 days even with data on. It was crazy. I am expecting something similar. Please guide me.
And thank you all in advance
what version do you have 505 or 500

Just got rid of my Xperia Z and my iPhone 5. Just have a few questions before getting one. No point asking the people in the shops they just want to sell.
The battery life on my iPhone 5 was pretty good and it charged very quickly. Yet the Xperia z was awful drained so fast at least it charged fairly quickly. But the iPhone charged well on the USB whilst being used where as the Xperia Z only charged if you didn't use it on USB.
Is the battery life on the s4 better than both or similar. Is the USB charging issue an android thing.
Also the Xperia z had a poor wifi signal. How's the s4's
Any other tips would be nice.
Overall the charging... is super fast in S4 because the charger out put was 2A and the battery also heats when charging but not so long ...
My i9500 is very smooth can handle any games you throw at it. The battery is not good currently hope be samsung fix it in future update. I just give my opinion.
You the decider for buying it! DON'T blame me if you not satisfied with it.

I would like to start with Sony Z i used for a week and hate that device coz of battery , heating, sound quality.
And compare to Sony Z ... S4 is far far better starting from battery , perfomance display music some of the software features etc
ii cant tell u diffrntce between S4 and I5 as i never used it
And if u are a high user of the phone u myte need to have a xtra battery or can use a custom kernal like persues which gives u a option of underclocking etc and u will never regret having this phone
Note I have I9500 and as of now it does not supoort CM10 etc and I9505 does support
for the variant u have to take a call
But S4 is worth a buy anytime compare to device u have used for sure
I have the gt9505 variant.
The battery Life is very good when on a custom kernel, I use ktoonsez kernel for instance and it allows me to make a profile to reduce the max ghz used when the screen is off. Greatly improves battery Life Imo. Also allows you to set the GPU max mhz when screen off.
On stock however I didnt really like the battery Life. I came from a note 2 which has fing awesom battery Life.
It's not bad on stock but the iPhone 5 will last longer I think.
Also depends on your usage of the device tho.
Check some battery Benchmarks which are around on the web.
As it stands right now iirc the 9500 loses to the 9505 atm in terms of battery Life.

Hi,
I got my S4 around 2 weeks ago, everything works fine, but it just heated up abit too quickly & sometimes you couldn't even touch the phone, so i asked Samsung about this problem, they replaced my phone but it kept and happening. So i decided to do some research, i didn't really find anything on the internet, im not a hardcore developer but i know my way around things
After doing some testing to see why it heats up & where, i figured out it was the RAM & CPU. I have around 300 apps installed, that's included system apps too, so 300-130= 170 user apps. So i flashed the latest ROM i could find because i thought it might have been a bug or something, it got abit better but still got really hot .So i decided to root & delete all the bloatware & apps i didn't need, after i did this i found a script on the forums to do this automatically, its not hard to find. It wouldn't heat up as quickly but would still get really hot. So then i decided to go to the extreme & disable all the fancy features the S4 has like Smart View, Air View etc. You know what, my phone hardly heats up really hot!
I also put it into power saving mode, it hardly has no affect on perfomance but my battery can last a day but still be on 40%.
So yes, if your S4 is over heating you have to disable all the features you bought the phone for, c'mon Samsung

OT; that's some awesome Math skills you got there, lol.
No over-heating here.
Only playing Ingress...
anyone here specially any Exynos version user plays dead trigger alot like 40-45 minutes continuously? How's the heating?
So far my 9500 isn't overheating. My nexus 4 would hit 55-60'C on the cpu. My S4 didn't go over 50 yet.

I think it only effects around 15% of S4 owners, it effects both I9505 & I9500
& lol, changed it to 170 haha
i used I9500 Octa version and no overheating at all :good:
Here's what NotebookCheck DE found. If your i9505 is performing differently I'd guess something's amiss.
Temperature
All this raw power squeezed inside the Galaxy S4 has to produce a lot of waste heat. Luckily, Samsung's engineers have managed to keep the Galaxy S4 cooler than the Galaxy S III. Despite all performance improvements, we never measured more than 42.5 degrees Celsius (108.5 degrees Fahrenheit), a value only achieved after hours of stress tests under full load. This maximum temperature, which occurs next to the ear speaker on the front, is actually 4 degrees less than what we measured for the Galaxy S III. It is only while idle that the increased excess heat becomes noticeable: In this case, the entire surface of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a few degrees warmer than that of its predecessor.
Heat generation is still very much acceptable, even though the HTC One feels cooler to the touch thanks to its metal case. The hottest device was the Nokia Lumia 920 with up to more than 50 degrees (122 degrees Fahrenheit) under full load, much more than what the Galaxy S4 reaches. Fortunately, the small power adapter remains rather cool as well while charging the phone.http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-GT-I9505-Smartphone.92829.0.html

I'd not say that, everyone commits mistakes. My initial quote was just for the lulz.
Hello friends,
I use my phone for primarily for 30 min calls & 30 min browsing per day.
I have seen lot of reviews on net including XDA and it seems that i9505 has marginally better battery life than i9500 on stock ROM.
How does battery life compare on Custom ROM's. ?
If i exclude CPU performance, gaming, graphics, benchmarks & LTE, which of the two devices would have considerably better battery life considering my usage above.

I9500 has 2 quadcore processors one more powerful nd one less powerful nd more power efficient so when u do light tasks like browsing or calling more power efficient one is working while in i9505 its a power hungry processor working everytime so you may get better battery life on i9500
If you like putting custom roms and experimenting new root apps features. then I would highly recommend you i9505. If you are never going to put custom rom and i9500 is cheaper than i9505 at your place then only you should get i9500.
I have never compared custom rom battery life with stock rom battery life. but I can tell you that there is a difference.. Custom roms provide better battery life than stock roms. because stock roms have so much bloatware apps installed which are always running and sucking battery juice. Also there is an app special for snapdragon powered devices called Snapdragon™ BatteryGuru. I have never used it. but it has some good reviews. It can be useful.
I am a i9500 owner and I hate this phone so much. because it has no good custom roms like cyanogen, pacman, paranoid, aokp, aosp etc. because samsung has made exynos chip source code closedsource.
I dont think there will be much difference in terms of app performance. Both can run apps equally smooth and good.
Btw why dont you get nexus 5 32gb? I guess both s4 and nexus 5 has same price tag. In terms of performance nexus 5 is far better than s4.
In my experience, especially on 4G LTE, Samsung standby is rather poor. How would you say the Exynos S8 does?

First 2 days mine was poor. But that was because I used smart switch to get everything from my S6. Then I realised battery drained fast. So I hard reset the phone again and installed all over. Just copied the video's and pics afterwards. Now the battery life is great. I don't know the screen on time because I keep the battery between 30% and 80%. But still I start use it at 80% and at the end of the day it is around 30%.

What theme is that?
I just got 43 hours total and 6.5 hours of SOT.
Best power efficiency I've ever seen in a phone.
Also read something online that the battery should retain about 95% of charge after a year of use. Hopefully this holds up!!!
8+ theme is mat black
Up.
How does the battery life of the S8 Exynos compare to the S7 Exynos , I plan to upgrade soon, just wanted to know if it worsened or anything due to the bigger display
Thanks!

Sweet! How about standby time? Overnight possibly with Wifi off?
Thanks!
Standby time never was a big quality on Android in general and Samsung in particular. iOS does a much better job in that chapter.
