Just wanted to get some peoples opinions on battery life between the two. After owning the device for 4 days it seems that when I am on AOSP the battery life is somewhat worse but it may just be in my head so I wanted to know what you guys have found.

I would say it will be better on a stock de-bloated rom until someone cracks hardware acceleration in AOSP. I flashed AOKP noticed the CPU loads were almost always about 1.0 higher then the stock rom and I would imagine this is because the CPU is doing all of the canvas drawing.
Dears ,
i want to buy a new mobile , but i 'm confused between S3 GT-I9305 and S4 GT-I9505 , specially that the S4 GT-I9505 costs more than S3 with 250$ , i'm not a heavy mobile gamer , i rare to play games on mobile , all my usage for the mobile is for calls and internet , and all i need in mobile with 4g option and good battery life time , so does it worth to go for S4 GT-I9505 specially it's battery 2600 mh ?
S3 GT-I9305 vs S4 GT-I9505
i really appreciate your recommendations
Thanks
Sherif
S4's battery life kills over the S3's..
But if you're in a tight budget, you can get the i9305 instead and buy an extended battery

If buget is not a problem, than I suggest you should choose an S4 instead of the older S3 version. There are many things to be taken into account, great display, better battery life and so on...

Battery life time is of course dependant on the way you use your phone. I have also an S2 and with the stock 1600 battery was just not enough for one day of normal usage. After I replaced the battery with a 2000 one (400 mAh difference) , I was entirely pleased.
Au contraire, with my S4 GT-I9505 I don't feel the need to get a better / larger battery, as the stock one is enough for my needs which includes surfing the Web, emails, gaming, music and so on.
Now, between i9305 and i9505 you have 500 mAh difference. Sure, the screen will eat some more juice, but even so...

If you don't care about super sharp images, airview and using those gestures to browse through the websites you visit I would probably buy the S3.... There is no real difference between the 2 other than that. The 2gb ram is nice but not so noticeable when using your phone ( I believe the S3 I9305 may have come with 2gb) but the internal memory is really eaten up with the apps you will never use. What I'd do, and take into account the sluggishness of demo units, is go and try them out at a phone store and see what they're like. In the end it is your decision and YOU have to live with it...
It all depends on your preferences. I suggest you search the YouTube channel for s3 s4 comparisons. There are plenty of them.

i9505
You can buy a genuine 3000 mha battery for the i9305 and have a better battery life then the I9505.
i think i will review my budget again , and see to buy S4 or S3 with extended battery ..
Ok, from Hardware prespective , which is better S3 GT-I9305 or S4 GT-I9505 ?
Recently snapdragon upgraded to 2.0,
To b frank, i dnt knw what snapdragon is, i searched net, and read reviews, ppl say its a good app, but it aint supported on GT-I9500, is there any similar app that will do the trick?

Snap Dragon is the name of a cpu company and it works as a battery saver which have that cpu. The I9500 has exynos processor and I9505 has snap Dragon. If u wanna use a battery saving app try juice defender. It's awesome for me and better than most battery savour.

Most of these apps just manage wifi/mobile data and claim to improve battery life, well , i hardly have those on, i mostly use my phone for normal things, like calling or playing games or listening to music when out ..
Hi,
I'm thinking of purchasing Samsung galaxy S4 I9500 (black edition). I've seen some users struggling with it's battery and heating issues.
are all devices affected with this issue?
Can a custom ROM solve the heating and batter problem? if yes, which one is the best?
Please advice.
Im using i9500 with no problems
I cant say for stock firmware but on custom rom heating and low battery life problems are nonexistent. Heating occurs a little while playing cpu and internet intensive games, but nothing you would not expect. Battery holds easily through the day or even two of you will not play or browse much. About roms- currently I would recommend ozcan rom if you want to stay on 4.4 or barebones 5.0.1 android. Both are great for speed battery and features.
I'll choose i9505 instead, Qualcomm rather than Exynos, much better thermal and battery & 4G also
sadly when I bought the phone only i9500 was available and I didn't discover that till when I finished every thing and entered my car
Exactly what the title says. I've been looking here and there for some ROMs that I would like to flash and I found quite a number of them to try out. However I want to hear from the experts who have been flashing custom ROMs all the time. What would you say would be the best ROM on battery life? I am currently running Hyperdrive RLS21 and I'll say it does decent on the battery life albeit the standby time can improve (I lose around 10% in a night if I leave it 100% uncharged).

First off battery life is subjective and usually has very little to do with the ROM. It is the kernel and settings which usually have most affect on battery life amongst the same user. This is not something you can compare from user to user but must be compared by the same user under the same conditions.
Let me give you some examples..a heavy gamer will get vastly different battery life from a heavy phone/text user. A person in low signal areas that has many apps synching will get horrible battery life compared to someone who has very little apps or great signal. I think you get the idea.
Kernel settings such as governor/scheduler/OC/UC choices will vastly affect your battery life. You really either need to compare ROMs yourself, or find someone that has compared ROMs under the same situation and similar use as you to get any useful data. I see that you asked for opinions from those flashing many ROMs. Other factors can affect that too...were they all clean flashed? Were any adjustments made?
Hope this helps! And hope you find the perfect ROM for you! Happy Flashing!

Problem is that I'm on a locked bootloader (ATT variant) so it's only natural that I should ask for a ROM that could give the best battery life since I can't flash any kernels
I'm no expert but I've been flashing ROMs for my S2, now my s4 for last 3 years. I've found recently that Tesla has the best battery life, 4% drain over 8 hrs at night. Best ever
