[Q] Failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)! - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Dear Gentlemen,
Good afternoon.
I have received a GT-S5360 phone which is stuck in a bootloop and I am trying to solve the problem.
I have tried most of the solutions I was able to find here in xda but I did not succeed.
The status of the device:
1- It has the stock ROM and Kernel (untouched, unrooted).
2- I can access the recovery mode and the download mode without any problem.
3- The PC and the ODIN can recognize the device.
4- I am having the proper ODIN driver on my PC.
5- I do not have kies installed on my PC.
6- I am using win7 Pro 32-bit.
7- Antivirus and Firewall were disabled completely during flashing.
Solutions I have tried:
1- Wipe Cache: completed successfully - but did not solve the problem.
2- Wipe data / factory reset: Completed successfully: did not solve the problem.
3- Trying to install a custom ROM from SD card through recovery mode: I have got the following error message:
E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 2). Installation aborted.
The after pressing "reboot", I have got the following before the device reboots:
Format failed on /dev/stl11
Formatting /cache...
e:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl10
Cache wipe complte.
E: failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)
E:copy_log_files_to_data:: can't mount /dataRebooting
4- Downloaded the ODIN Stock Galaxy Y S5360 flashable firmware packages from Doky73 thread here ..
the flashing completed successfully using ODIN but the problem remains the same (infinite bootloop).
5- Downloaded a single-file stock ROM from Samsung forums (sammobile.com) (.tar.md5) and flashed it successully using ODIN but it did not solve the problem.
6- Downloaded the suitable .pit package and repeated step 4 and 5 but with re-partition selected and the .pit file added it gives me "fail". please find below the message for the status:

I have tried to change the USB cable, and used another PC, but it did not work.
I have repeated the above ODIN flashing using odin v1.83, v1.85, and using v3.7 but it did not work in any.
do you have any ideas guys?

THIS IS IT! Solved in an eye blink! I had always thought that the repartitioning option in Odin was satanic or something, but well, as soon as I entered the PIT file, repartition got checked itself. I clicked start, and voila. Phone's good as new.

You need to flash stock ROM using Odin, again.

[HELP] Bricked S4 19505

I was playing with my S4 today and I saw this thread on xda regarding Android 4.3 firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348272
Being cheeky, I decided to install it on my S4. Before I did anything, I backed up my device and transferred the backup from my sd card to my computer so that I have enough space. I then placed the .zip file into my S4 folder and wiped all data, clear cache and proceed to install it. I didnt remember if I clicked Disable Recovery Flash or not. heh After that, I waited for 1 hr but my S4 is stuck at the google startup screen with occasional vibrations of the phone. I tried going to recovery mode and resetted everything, including formatting my card, and hence, losing the .zip file of the custom google edition 4.3 firmware. I dont have anything to reset it coz my whole S4 is empty. So I decided to use Odin and downloaded the international mtar file, but this appeared.

make sure kies is unloaded it will interrupt odin
(stop all services and processes in task manager)
Odin troubleshooting: If Odin accidentally gives you "fail" try the following:
- Repeat procedure.
- Make sure that all actions of Kies are disabled from task manager.
- Change usb port.
- Try another usb cable (make sure it is the original).
- Try another Odin version.
- Uninstall and re-install driver.
- Use pit file.
- Try another computer.

Here is the guide-line before flashing:
1. Was USB Debugging enabled on your device?
2. You got the latest Samsung drivers installed on your pc?
3. Did you make sure Samsung kies is not running in the system tray?
4. Make sure any antivirus or firewalls are switched off.
If you still cannot flash, this normally happens when the partitions on the embedded multi media card gets corrupted for whatever reason, also known as the emmc
The phone can be restored by flashing a pit file to repartition the emmc in order so it can be written to.
Download and unzip this file and you will have a .pit file which you put in the tab marked PIT in Odin
Next make sure: re partition, f /reset, and auto reboot are ticked in options in Odin.
Reflash your stockfirmware
Let me know if it's fixed

Any idea why the f*ck does ODIN 3.09 show this when trying to flash official 5.0 firmware? Just bricked my phone because of this. Everything goes ok until hidden.img.ext4. After that, FAIL.

Help! I may have bricked my phone!

BACKUP your data to external storage
REMOVE external SD card
DOWNLOAD N900V_JasmineROM_v5.0.zip to internal storage & CHECK MD5
REBOOT to Safestrap recovery
DELETE all ROM slots & make Stock Slot active
WIPE everything (system/data/cache/dalvic)
FLASH N900V_JasmineROM_v5.0.zip - BE PATIENT !
MAKE SURE THE ABOVE STEP HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULY COMPLETED !
REBOOT to Download mode
DOWNLOAD N900VVRUEOB6_PartialFirmware.tar.md5.7z to your PC & CHECK MD5
EXTRACT N900VVRUEOB6_PartialFirmware.tar.md5 using 7-Zip
FLASH N900VVRUEOB6_PartialFirmware.tar.md5 via Odin in AP slot
REBOOT to Stock recovery (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Up)
RESET factory by selecting "wipe data/factory reset"
REBOOT to System & Enjoy!
I followed these directions except for when I got to "DELETE all ROM slots & make Stock Slot active" it wouldn't work so I googled how to use safestrap and I found I had to make a rom and make that active. So maybe that's where it went wrong. I don't know. Please help!
I can still get into system recovery but I'm not sure what to do.

you cannot go back to 4.4.2 if you went with jasmine 5.0 you can not go back. either you find a work around trying to boot jasmine 5.0 or you go back to 4.4.4 and you will not have root cause there is no root method
did you install on stock rom slot when install jasmine?
Did you factory reset after flashing ?
need fix
Did you ever find a fix for this? I also had jasminerom installed on my Verizon note 3 and tried installing a KK rom and can't escape from a soft-brick. I am completely lost and can't find anything with a search.

"Could not do normal boot invalid kernel length"

My G935F shows "Could not do normal boot invalid kernel length" when attempting to boot into TWRP or turn on the device normally. The only thing I can access is ODIN. This happened after attempting to update TWRP and LineageOS. From looking online, I believe I can get a kernel and select the AP option in ODIN and flash a kernel as long as it is in .tar format. I was previously using PRIME kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/kernel-prime-kernel-v1-4-0-t3678159 so I looked in the latest download from there but there are no .tar files, only a bootimg.tar.xz and a ramdisks.tar.xz. I tried extracting bootimg.tar.xz to a bootimg.tar and flashing that, but ODIN says it failed:

I ran ODIN as administrator and was able to flash Chainfire. I was then able to boot in normally, and after that flash TWRP again. Still not sure which step caused that issue but it is resoled now.

Put your phone into Download mode
Run Odin as administrator
Click AP and select CF-Auto-Root
Hit Start and you're done
If you did the flash before it crashed properly, you should have a stock recovery.
Good luck

Is your device Rooted? If so. Download the TWRP app. And within the app you can download the newest version of TWRP for your device.
When the download is finished. Copy that file from your device to pc.
And then flash it again through odin. (use the TWRP you downloaded with your device..)
Trying to get working magiskhide action i flashed stock Boot.img now I have Could not do normal boot invalid kernel length
and the phone just refuse booting into recovery
same for me except i have S8 (G950F) and im on linux ;-;.

Hello,
i had all common problems with my stock branded note 4 (freezing, restarting, eMMC Failure,..) and i tried to resolve them with simpler methods (wipe reset, no microsd,..) but without results.
Then i tried to flash stock rom no brand but again without results; i decide to try the custom ROM (lineage-15.1-20180808-UNOFFICIAL-trlte) but the phone continued to freeeze and to swich off.
Now i would like to return with stock rom but i havw a problem with PIT file during the flashing of custom Rom with Odin; the procedure fails.
When i start the phone i have the errore " firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again"; now i cant' go in recovery mode but only in download mode.
If i try to flash the stock rom i have this problem :

Which version do you have? I have the PIT files for the 910C and 910F that I've extracted from my Note 4s.
You load both the PIT file and stock ROM into ODIN and flash them together.
EDIT: Just noticed you've had the mmc_read failed error. The above might not work depending on how far gone your emmc is.
Thank you! My version is 910F.
I read about a solution where it's necessary to put the phone in the freezer and i'll try it flashing with ODIN.
How do i have to set Odin?
AP: I have downloaded the stock firmware in Sanmobile and i'll use it
PIT file? in BL?
I would like also to reset the knox counter (my intention is to give back the phone using the Samsung evaluation of the used phones); is it possibile?
Thank you
There's a separate option to select the PIT file in Odin.
You can't reset Knox, it's an efuse, once tripped/blown then that's it.
