[Q]How to solve this problem with AOSP ROMS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have a GS4 and have been flashing roms for a while..One thing I cannot figure out is why the camera has horrible blurring..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WA0gZwCIfLM
Please take a look...the front facing camera doesn't not do that..

Some people said they removed the little protective film off the camera fixed it for them. Taking the battery cover off seemed to make removing the protective film easier.

Camera Lens

Hi guys, anyone know if the camera lens have gorilla glass as the screen?
If no what are you going to do to protect them?

Absolutely nothing

I just stick the Singtel logo sticker just underneath the lense. The sticker is slightly thicker than the lense so it prevents scratching if you put the phone on table.

I don't have the link, but I remember that someone here in XDA who managed to damage it reported the camera has a plastic protection.
I tried using a piece of screen protector (home button waste) to protect the camera lens, but it resulted in horrible pictures. Therefore, I decided to leave it naked. Nevertheless I use a protector case which doesn't let the camera lens touch the surfaces where the phone rests, preventing scratches.

Howto: Remove dust from Galaxy S3 Camera

Hi all did a search and found nothing mentioning this problem, basically it's really easy to build up dust under the camera lens cover. I've made a video showing how to lift the cover, clean and replace it.
You will need
Your S3
a small pin!
about 3 minutes of your time.
The problem I had was poor autofocus and a white cast across one side of my images, this solved it hope it helps some of you.
is it suitable for Galaxy Note II ?
Mine was abused with dust (Qatar), heh and i have no dust under this.
Return it, because it's not a design defect, maybe a batch had this issue.
Interesting any one else found no issue?

It should be yes I've got a note 2 and it's the same lens cover

AWESOME! thanks for the video.
I´m having the same problem with dust but this didn´t solve it... must be deeper within the lenses.

Earpiece scratches

Hey, i've noticed that the earpiece on my s4 scratches way easier than on my s3. It's due to the fact that it is slightly more raised off the front glass than on the s3. Is anyone else noticing small scratches on the earpiece?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Same here,
The chrome like ring around the earpiece easily scratches off

Tried to scratch mine with no help, still intact :good:
Don't try. It should scratch easily with reuglar use..lol im also seeing it scratched in alot of review videos if you look closely...in my opinion the earpiece on both the s3 and s2 were less sratchable...

I already tried, even with scissors :silly:
NO scratches whatsoever, maybe I was luck and got good set of earpiece :good:

Yep I got a scratch already on the metal cover for the ear piece. I also notice that the second and third little hole (from left to right) seems to be clogged or a metal part just underneath - oh an the last one too. I even attempted to unclogged one of those holes with a very sharp pin and that's when I notice they are not clogged. Those holes look just look clogged but it's just components under the grill.
I got massive scratches on the first 3-4 days of use on the camera metal ring. It should be made from the same material on the sides.
Same here also got scratches on the camera grill!

No.
Well, yes, but only to a certain hardness of course.
It's made by glass or plastic?

The multi-element lens is made out of plastic, but the lens holder that is facing the outside world is cut out from glass. As said before, it will take some scratches, but same rules apply as for the screen: try to protect it from damage.
Can it take being put on the surface of a smooth table? Yes. Can it resist keys, sand and knives? No.

No. It is normal glass without a scratch resistant feature.
Don't forget that there's a plastic removal protector on there from factory that can be removed... I remember this was a big fail on the S4 and had end users freaking out, or maybe that was just me lol

Some phones have the lens protector, some don't.
I am on my third gs5, first 2 didn't even have a protector over the camera lens and the 3rd one does
I'm going to leave it on since there's a nice cutout for the camera optic, so it doesn't interfere with photos

I left mine on as well however I remember how much of a pain it was on the S4

why was it a pain? the cutout hole is perfect size and doesn't get in the way of the quality of the photos......
i remember i took a picture of something with the cover on, and then without it, and it was exactly the same...no loss in quality
It was causing some users interference with the camera. That was the issue I had at least.

Scratched camera lens, photo quality
My S5 camera quality has dropped significantly lately. The photos have become quite grainy, especially in mid and low light. I compared it to friend's S5 and you can see the difference right on the screen even without taking a photo. My camera lens is with scratches, friend's not. Can it be the reason ? If so, is it possible to get the scratches out somehow ? I have seen videos of scratch repair for HTC One M8 (http://youtu.be/xhhOcIRMfWc ). Can it work on S5 ? Any advice, any solution ?

Nexus 6P Black spot in Camera

Hoping someone might have an answer to this, it was working fine but all the sudden a black spot appeared out of no where. is there a way to fix this or RMA is the only option?
It looks like dirt to me ? It´s because of the shading. Are you sure that the lens is 100% clean and is this spot also visible if you film stuff ?

It does look like something got in there. I clean the lense and even gone as far as factory reset or tried different camera app. No go. What's strange is when going to video it's not there.
Scratching my head on this one.

Video changes the aspect ratio, try using different camera software and see what shows

Ouch. That's odd. I would suggest removing the visor but I wouldn't do it on my own. It's physical and not software related. How did anything get in there did you take the visor off before
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Did you end up doing an RMA or fixing the problem another way? I just encounter the same thing. Saw someone else post on Reddit that they dealt with it too but after they dropped the phone it went away.
It's a piece of dust on one of the lenses or sensor. It doesn't show on video because it 's right up at the edge of the screen, and gets cut off with a different aspect ratio. Assuming you didn't damage it to allow dust to get in, you should be able to exchange it.
