So when I first got my s4 I flashed cm 10.1 but noticed some battery life issues. When the GE rom came out I flashed that but realized that I missed a lot of the CM features. I want to go back to CM but have concerns about battery life. So my question is, if anyone has bothered testing it, the battery life of CM 10.1 compared to the GE ROM? Thanks!

There is a google thread started for questions about google related info, lets try using it. Thanks.
CM10 has better battery life...period.

Any avid flashers go back to stock ROM and stay there? I flip flop between CM and aospa frequently and I'm considering going back to stock. Id think that Google optimised the stock ROM for the Nexus 4. Any comments. Ive always used custom roms

I haven't stayed there on the N4, my GN lived on stock for the last couple of months I used it.
That said if CM didn't exist I would have ZERO issues with rocking the stock images. I'd just carefully choose which market apps to fill some of the functionality void.

When I first got my n4 in November I immediately started flashing ROMs (cm being ROM of choice). But after about a month I went back to 100% stock unrooted and stayed that way. Its nice to know everything will just work, plus after a while I get sick of flashing ROMs all the time. Only thing about stock is it gets kinda boring after a while, which is why I flashed PA yesterday but I'm kinda already thinking about going back to stock lol... Nothing matches its speed & smoothness imo

How bout battery life? I don't like using custom kernels... To many things to tinker with.

I wouldn't consider myself an avid flasher but I did try a ROM (AOKP) and ended up going back to stock because I like knowing everything will work on my phone when I need it to. On previous non nexus devices I always flashed ROMs that were as close to AOSP as possible because I think it's smoother (but they'd always have minor issues here and there were functionality didn't quite work all the way). I usually pick a ROM and stick with it. In this particular case I think it will be stock.

Same here, never been a huge fan of kernels. But I decided to give Franco a try and I can safely say battery is slightly better than stock. I was getting about 15 hrs + 3screen on with stock, now on PA w/ Franco I'm getting 4hrs screen on time. Only thing I noticed is every once in a while I see a tiny micro-stutter in an animation, but its worth it for an extra hr of SOT lol. Btw I'm running all stock settings on franco

Would one of our wonderful devs like to help out? I know a lot of people feel my pain as far as battery life on AOSP ROMs and I loved it on my s3...

Don't know about if anyone would port over lean kernel - usually don't see people port kernels. But I definitely don't know about this pain inducing battery life on AOSP roms.
Have you tried Ktoonez kernel? Used it on my S3 and on the S4 the day since it came out. I get great battery life on both TW and AOSP with proper management!

Aosp battery life is nothing close to what I get with stock... Even with ktoonsez and ktoonservative UVd to -50 MV across the board its like stock bloated on the s3... absolutely abismal!

Can anyone tell me what to make of this? My battery was wiped out today just sitting idle in my pocket at work. I'm using a CM Mako nightly with the newest franco.Kernel. I've been told this is a common bug within 4.3 in general, but I found no resolutions. Please look at the attached screenshots and let me know if you need any more info to help me out.

Looks like an issue with the kernel but I hear alot of issues with c10.2. Try asking someone in the Franco thread.

Better Battery Stats might give you more details on what the exact cause could be.

I have the same issue on my nexus 5 with stock kernel and stock rom. Any ideas?
I owned a nexus 4 when it was launched.
Kept it for a while but sold it because of the poor (at the time) battery times with stock 4.2.
My question is if anything has changed since then in terms of battery and/or performance with the latest kit kat 4.2
Can battery runtimes get any better with custom roms ? Stable one at least...
Thanks in advance.

Well, everything has changed. There are a variety of kernels that greatly improve battery life..so I don't see any consequences to sell N4 just because of that

Hi! I am using paranoid android 4.0 with stock kernel, and i am having excellent battery life. On a normal day it only discarges to 50 percent. I am very satisfied.

There are all kinds of kernels and ROMs to extend battery life. I love this phone more now than I did when I bought it. Nexus 5 what?
Hi,
I am running the latest CM11 nightly 20141204. I just bought a new original samsung battery but still getting pathetic battery life. I am getting just half day backup with data on. Is this problem specifically with CM11 or there could be any other issue?
Try ArchiKernel, it does wonders with the battery life.

Yeah I did that. What are your settings?

I have left it on the standard settings since it feels like a good balance between performance and battery life for me.

Find the betterbatterystats thread and follow the OP.
cyanogen is known for the ''battery drain'' problem, i suggest you to flash boeffla kernel, with the app ''boeffla config v2" (find it on web, not in play store) and play with governors and eventually undervolts to save some battery
