I recently got a T-Mobile Galaxy S4, stock ROM, not rooted.
It seems to me so far from experimentation that features like Voice Control, motion and gesture control, Air View, etc., only wiork with the default stock apps--such as the default e-mail app, the stock browser ("Internet"), the stock music player, etc.
(Well, Voice Control can launch other apps, but I haven't seen it able to control them.)
Is there a way to get any such features to work on other apps as well.
I do use the stock e-mail app, but there are much better browser choices than the stock browser, such as firefox, Opera, Dolphin, Chrome, etc.
I may start using a 3rd party music player instead of the stock one, but I think the voice controls like start and pause, etc., only work with the stock player.
It really limits the usefulness of these features, if they can only be used in the stock apps.
Is there a way to get them to work with other apps?
Thank you.
I have never seen it for the s4

Hej.
I recently picked up an HTC Magic, and had a quick question about multitasking. Prior to this phone I had a Nokia E71, and could run Opera, Music Player, and SMS with little to no lag in between.
On the Magic, I rarely can listen to music and web browse without the music stuttering. Even if i attempt to send an sms, the music playback may drop.
Is this normal?
I am running the ION Rom, and have no widgets running, plus no third party apps. I would think that this android OS would be better equipped than this.
Umm. I do not have this problem and I multi-task ALOT!
To fix this, I would recommend using "Advanced Task Manager Lite" from the App Store. It can help you close applications that you do not want running in the background.
To NOT close apps like music while you are browsing..just open up the app after opening up like the Music application..tap on the application in the list shown..and click on "exclude"...do that for other apps like gmail and stuff too..so that they can easily run in the background..
Once you are done doing this..click on "end all"..all the unnecessary apps running in the background will be GONE !
I think this will help get more out of your phone..
I hate pretty much everything about the touchwiz musicplayer EXCEPT the ability of controlling the music in notifications. After research there are a lot of not (really) working widgets (witgetsoid, etc.) and also ROM's (like the currently unavailible CM7) for other players.
What i thought was that it theoretically should be possible to "sync"or trick the TW player with your specific player (ubermusic, playerpro, poweramp...) so that you actually control your player.
Maybe this would be easier since it's integrated into TW already and notifications can't respond to input.
i'd really appreciate any help !
(what ROM's currently support this ?)
I don't like and don't use the stock music, video and web apps on the KF. I would instead like to (let's say) replace the stock music shortcut with the android music player, the stock video shortcut with Youtube, and the web launcher with Dolphin.
Is this possible somehow? I have uninstalled the 3 mentioned apps using TB, but obviously when I go to the links in the launcher it says that the app is not found and doesn't let me choose an alternate app.
Anyway I can achieve this? I am running MoDaCo.
I am currently using S4 Google Edition v13 - Feel the Experience of Nexus by jamal2367.
One thing I noticed is I can't customize ringtones and alarm sounds to music or other sound files than the stock ones with the rom. Is there a way to download an app or mod for this?
Another thing is I was able to use swype or a similar feature on the samsung keyboard but it is not as smooth with the google keyboard when using multiple languages. For example, using both korean (default) and english inputs sacrifices the ability to use swype but using english (default) I'm not able to switch to korean.
Much help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been there with that ROM. the number of features you have to forget comparing with TW is to much. I don't like TW interface and all the samsung APPS that I don't use, but the extra features we have to renounce is simply to much. Some of them, like progressive alarm, use of all sensors, moving apps to SDCARD, that feature that wakes up the phone with the passing of your hand in front of the camera is great stuff
Hi guys I'm having an issue whereby once I delete the stock music widget from the LG home screen where it was placed there by default, I'm no longer able to add it back. It seems to be missing from the widgets tab. I couldn't find it would trying on Nova as well. Anyone else had this problem? I pretty much prefer stock music apps to Google music cuz it has a lot of functions I don't need. The stock music app keeps it simple.
