Hey I was wondering what you guys thought was a great alternative to the stock Samsung music apparently. I'm looking for something that is very functional but is also very sleek and stylish. Also hopefully it comes with a widget as well. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks

theres always tunewiki
I would say MixZing. It is not the "sleekest" looking but it certainly is the best-SOUNDING. It has a full 10-band EQ with each band customizable to 12.0db. It also creates playlists based on what you are currently listening to and can get album art/info automatically + suggest new music you may not have. It has a lock screen widget for changing music without unlocking the phone (or you can use a separate program which allows you to switch the song by shaking your phone, even when off). Finally, the developers are VERY friendly and receptive to support and suggestions and are actively working to improve it.

The CyanogenMod Music application. Download CM5 for Nexus One, and install the Music.APK. Awesome look, nice standard functionality and excellent widgets.
Just out of curiosity, what is it about the stock music app that you don't like. I have tried a lot of music apps on the G1, but the stock one on the Vibrant is the best one I have used.
On the G1 and the Cliq I used MixZing and I thought it was great. At this point I'm using the stock player, seems to work pretty good. I would use MixZing or DoubleTwist, I've heard good things about that player.
+1 for the stock Vibrant music app.
The thing is that most of lyrics apps don't support this stock music player.
I tried Mixzing but I like 3 (cubed player).
meridian is pretty good. the headset controlls work for it.
I'm using MixZing, Cubed (3) and Stock player each had one problem I can't stand.
On the Cubed: it keeps recreating/duplicating my playlists, making several copies of each m3u list I have except only the last entry is useable.
On Stock: m3u files not recognized.
+1 for tunewiki, auto lyrivs and cover art download, widget looks ugly and no lockscreen controls though

One reason not to use the stock player is that it can't sort music by artist once your music library gets above a certain size. There is a thread in the Captivate section about this "Music Player -Not enough space in Music Database"
none of this would be a problem if google would get with the program. if the music player in android 3 is the same as android 1 then i hope someone slaps google with a wet noodle.
I just use Real player, works great for music, videos and pics, cant go wrong

Doubletwist is really good
I like MixZing mainly because it automatically retrieves album art and it has a decent widget. It also sorts music very well for me and the lockscreen widget is something I use a lot. My only gripe is that it's not very good looking.
I really want to buy an Android device ( d: ) , but I'm not sure if there is that big of variate of mods and programs to make listening to music easier on Android.
I am used to an iPod Touch (jailbroken) with music controls over the volume rocker (I've read CyanogenMod has that !) and a real fast/easy way to listen to music.
After researching on the net, I have found some really nice programs like PowerAMP, but since I don't own an Android device, i can't really tell how good everything works and what else there is.
Of course I'd read myself into how to root and so on, and I'd do anything to make my next phone a good music player !
So what do you think are really important mods/programs for making music on Android easier and better ?
In my opinion, PowerAMP is the best music player for Android. You modify everything on the equalizer. Of course you've got presets (this way is easier for my). The biggest problem with the application is its price !! you've got a free trial period, but after, you've got to pay...
the default music player on Android gets the job done it just doesnt look good. Id advise just buying a Zune HD or and iPod Touch for your music
Well I have an iPod Touch, but i HATE carrying both an iPod and a phone (a brick right now )
Would it be possible to get the volume-rocker control for music to work with PowerAMP (<-- i dont care if it costs a little. As I've said, I'd do almost anything ) ??
Music controls do work with the volume rocker, track up and down, with PowerAMP. I'm sure CyanogenMod has an impact on that feature though. I think the mod is the fact that the command for blue tooth track next is mapped to the long press volume function, same with the lockscreen controls.
So you are saying that skipping (short hold of up/down) and pausing (power button ?) songs works on PowerAMP "out-of-the-box" (without root ?) ?
And also if I'd like to put CM on my device, it's possible that the functions would interfere ?
No, like I said, not stock. I use trackball wake so I can't comment on that.
so what would i have to do to get the functions like that to work with PowerAMP ?
Root and install CM6x
I use Lithium Player and I love it. It has a unique UI and can fetch album art as well. The player allows you to make playlists and customize the color of the UI. The player also finds playlists from other music apps on the phone, so that you don't have to keep remaking playlists. If you have any problems or concerns, just email the dev and he will reply back in a timely manner. Me and the dev are actually working on something big right now, and if you want to help, please visit my site at futurinnovations.blogspot.com.
Youll have A TON of options. Different players with different feature sets etc.
Trackball/vole skip etc are all available. Dont be afraid to root. Most of the time your device will have a simple one or few step solution.
If youre on here then you are already part of a tremendous community and have a stack of info and help at your fingertips.
With PowrAmp options , the interface , the widgets , lock screen controls etc and most of all the custom EQ make it a much better music experience than an Iphone/Ipod.
DoubleTwist makes Itunes syncing easy if its a MUST.
Winamp features wireless syncing.
Again really a no brainer. Music/sound quality will vary from device to device.
If you just want the best sound neither Android/Apple offer that. Perhaps theres an Android device that does have some great sound hardware but all in all smaller portable players with better sound chips will be a better choice in audiophile terms.
Good headphones + Poweramp are the next best thing. Plus you get the best damn communication OS/devices available off a desktop so go for it.
Mortplayer
One really good FREE Solution to all the features i read about PowerAMP is
MortPlayer... (DL widgets separately).
- lockscreen widget, playing from folders, playlists, volume controls etc.

Why would you have a problem with price are you a broke ass?
Hi,
I'm running on ParanoidAndroid and the default widget to control music over the lockscreen is from google music.
I would like to change this one by the widget provided by Sony, it's look like this http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8193/8083300548_60a34660eb.jpg but with only album arts, no bar navigation and directly on the lockscreen.
How I can get it on my Nexus 4 ? Do I need to install the walkman apk ? If yes, the sound will be changed ?
Maybe this one ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38500108&postcount=121
Nobody ?
Hey buddy. Unfortunately getting what you want is not going to be simple!
You'd need to be good at Android systems programming as well as Java programming to do this. You'll need to modify the ROM/OS so that the default lockscreen widget for music is the Sony one, then modify that widget to work with the ROM, etc. The fact that Sony's music player is probably proprietary makes the situation even worse.
Bottom line, someone with skills will need to do this, and it will take some time. For now I guess you'll have to make do with the Play Music app, or download an alternative music player. There are lots of them on the Play Store and people have been very satisfied with them.
I personally don't mind the Play Music app that much, and use it as a daily driver for music
If yes then plz let me and others know.
It will never be ported since it relies on Samsung's proprietary framework and libraries
What special feature does the Touchwiz music player have that isn't found in an offering on Google Play?

Buddy everyone 1 have special preference. I'm liking the Samsung stock musicplayer. It is simple to use and best sound quality, if u have any suggestion then plz suggest. Thanks.
The music player in Touchwiz is very basic, being little more than a reskinned AOSP music player. In the AOSP music player, you have access to a graphic equalizer called MusicFX. MusicFX is a separate app, called when the MusicFX option is tapped on the AOSP player settings. Other than reskinning the player, all Samsung did was to go into the music player code and change the setting option to point to SoundAlive instead of MusicFX. Something our developers here can do in their sleep.
You can do better than this just by going to the Play Store. So, my suggestion is to start looking on the Play Store for an alternative, because as iJo09 mentioned in the second post, you're never going to be able to port the Samsung music player or SoundAlive apps. Each app has hooks into Samsung's modified framework and as a result, neither app will function outside of Touchwiz.
I use neutron music player, very good quality and nice features, I think it's about $5.00
I have a problem with my lock screen.
I went to the notification center and gave Lock screen permisions to all my music apps. I say all because I've been testing several to be sure it's not the app fault.
the apps are: jetAudio, Music (the default huawei one), Black Player, Phonograph, Podcast Addict, Pulsar, Rocket Player and Spotify.
All of them have all the permissions possible (lock screen, Banners, status bar) and so far the only one that has the music controls properly working is the default music app and Spotify (both with the exact same UI, I mention this because I don't know if this is how is supposed to be seen).
I don't know what to do.
I'm running Nova, in a VNS-L31. If you need any additional info just name it.
Thanks in advance.

First things first, EMUI is made that way so you can't enable music controll on lockscreen for third party apps.
Second, you are running Nova (launcher?), that doesn't have anything to do with the ROM...
To have lockscreen controls you will need to flash a third party ROM (eg. LineageOS by @Meticulus), (not EMUI). But as i can see, you are pretty new to the Android thing, so i wouldn't recommend it.
thanks for your answer.
I put all the information I could think of, in order to make your task helping me easier.
Yes I am quite new. I've only rooted a nexus 5 and it was with a program that did almost everything for me. Nexustools or something like that....
Seems to me that probably for music screen controls maybe it's too much hassle. although it's not my favourite I guess I will stick with the default music app.
Just one more question, when huawei rolls out the update to Emui, it probably will keep working the same way, won't it?
Thanks again mate
In Firmware Finder --> Tweaker (Test) --> Set music player to keyguard
It works good on P9 lite with Android 6.0 ...
I didn't test it with Nougat.
