ROMS that allow dual boot between CDMA/LTE and GSM/tmo etc? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just wondering which roms allow for using a Verizon sim and a gsm domestic sim such as tmobile used with ease? If there are any does this mean that these roms have the radio edit in them ? Thanks !

Most of them should allow for it. I know dhacker29's latest CM10.1 and ParanoidAndroid builds work fine after making a small build.prop change and adding the APN that you need. The radio edit to enable domestic GSM support is done to the radio partition, not the system partition, so the ROM does not have anything to do with it. As long as you don't overwrite the radio partition by doing an OTA update, RSDLite restoration, etc., you will always have domestic GSM networks unlocked.

most of the aosp roms have a gsm fix for them, i use aokp with a net10 sim with no issue

Convert to i9500?

A friend of mine got a Sprint S4 but he wishes to use it with a GSM Carrier.
First couple things I noted are:
1) No SIM Card Contact Management, had to use an App to copy all to phone
2) Cannot find GSM APN settings to manually enter
Is it possible to flash a stock International i9500 ROM over this to alleviate the issues with using a mainly CDMA version?

I do not believe you can flash an international ROM to this phone unless you want a pretty paperweight. But there are some tutorials to unlock your SIM to be able to use on other carriers, here is where I'd start. However if he's on a Knox bootloader I think the chance is next to zero for using it on GSM because you have to 'go back' to MDC to do some required stuff.
If he wanted to use a gs4 on a GSM network he should have gotten a GSM version not a CDMA

It is actually already unlocked as he can use Voice etc just a bit tricky to get the APN settings to work for 3G...

Rom work with GSM sim without APN setting

I get international unlocked on S4... I have tried Domestic Unlocked and also tried CM 11 rom and then change the GSM only without any luck. Are there any way or any Rom can be work ??

[Q] 900V options

Hello!
This might seems a little strange but I can't seem to find a straight forward answer. So everything I read, talks about the 900V being restricted due to it's boot loaded being locked and there are very few options with choosing ROM's. Is this common:
1) I have the 900V and i have safestrap 3.75 and Alliance Rom 2 with NE9 kernel, currently not in the states and i'm able to use a different sim card. It is using a 3G carrier vs Version LTE, my phone still says sim locked to Verzion but i'm connected to the current SIM card and pulling data off of it. I did not think this was possible with Verzions choke hold on everything.
2) Am i truly limited on what ROM's i can load on my phone? I feel like having safe strap i should be able to install more ROMs than the few options listed on here.
3) I enjoy the Alliance ROM a lot, any recommendations on what ROMs i should experiment and might enjoy. And can i install them with safestrap?
Thank you all for your time!
All Verizon phones are unlocked but the bootloader is locked. This means only stock ROMs will work, and they've locked out most other carrier's LTE bands.
stick to Verizon development thread and try all of them there.

[help] Device suppoted twrp

I was wondering if there was a way to change either
The phones name (jfltetmo) to jfltexx in a simple way (i can do it by flashing roms but that cause me to flash one rom to install another.
Or
Change the roms supported device list to add jfltetmo
Dose anyone know of any way to do this?
Edit build.prop to match the jfltexx values.
I wouldn't recommend it. The jfletmo is a CMDA device, the jfltexx is a GSM device.
While they have the same hardware, CMDA devices use different bands to connect to a network. If the rom is not compatible with your model it means that it doesn't have those bands included.
Force flashing it might break your network connection. Meaning you will not have any at all. Not phone calls, no sms, no mobile internet etc.
I think the jfltetmo is a T-Mobile device which also works with gsm frequencies.
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltetmo
To flash a custom rom to the device, you can edit the updater script to include the tmo.

Thanks, but this id not something im doing lightly. You sedi know a few roms which need a different device name to flash because tmo s4 died long ago
This is for roms such as wizcyan (wich wirk on tmo) just needs another name for it to work.
And as far as flashing goes the i9505 is the device i need yo change to but alot use the xx

Sprint HTC 10 on T-Mobile?

Does the Sprint variant work with Ting GSM (essentially T-Mobile towers) if you SIM unlock it following the SIM unlock tutorials? Or would it require more than that? I looked on HTC's site and its shows the phone has all the same bands for the Sprint version and T-Mobile version. Does anyone have a Sprint version working with Ting or T-Mobile?

I believe it does if you change your cid and flash it to the unlocked firmware. There are threads everywhere on how to do this, make sure to check the un-carrier branded HTC 10 xda site.

I run a Sprint device on T-Mobile. Works perfect with the exception of WiFI Calling which I am currently trying to get working.
Simple way is to unlock SIM NV method, load custom recovery, load latest Viper ROM, on AROMA pick the proper base install MM or N and Choose T-Mobile for carrier and that's really it man. the LTE bands are already all there, reason why I say Viper after the unlock is because other people including me had trouble getting data to work on stock Sprint MM. Flashing Viper solved that beautifully.

The only thing that sucks is you will be missing WiFi Calling which to me was a little annoying. I have tried everything, I went as far as S-OFF (kinda of a waste of $25) installed multiple firmwares (T-Mobile stock with Sprint radio, etc), different rom's, so far nothing, it seems tied to the actual us unlocked/t-mobile radio which as we know isn't compatible with the Sprint variant. On the plus everything else works including VoLTE.

If you ever figured out Wi-Fi calling on the Sprint HTC 10 for T-Mobile, do you remember how and can you tell me?
