ive seen other threads on this topic but none really answered properly.
I live in Ireland and bought my phone unlocked from the UK , i want to get my stock firmware back but i cant find one that suits my model and version. So would i
harm my device if i used a firmware from a different country that has the correct firmware i want????
s4 i9505
If the phone is unlocked you shouldn't have any issues. Except with CSC maybe.
whats CSC exactly?
Consumer Service Code, which is what Samsung uses to customize the firmware for a particular region. With devices that are locked to their carriers this also means the apps that the carrier wishes to add to the firmware. In your case, since your S4 is not locked to a carrier you can install any stock ROM you wish from any region. For example, my unlocked I9505 was originally on O2 in the UK (CSC O2U). When I purchased it from its original owner it came to me with Slovenian firmware (SI Mobil, CSC SIM). I subsequently flashed unbranded firmware onto the device and ended up with a device that thought it was Swiss (CSC AUT). In this last instance, three Swiss-specific apps were added that are not found in the other versions of the firmware. These apps were added because the CSC reported itself to the firmware installer and said, "install these apps as well". Had I changed the CSC to BTU I likely would have gotten some UK-specific firmware.
Can I flash XEU firmware with odin to my network locked model? I'm on EE and would like to have the unlocked unbranded version on my device?
Hello folks,
I would like to update my S7 Edge (SM-G935F) to the latest Nougat firmware which if I'm not mistaken arrived UK BTU, which is:
PDA - G935FXXU1DQB3
CSC - G935FOXA1DQB1
I would like to install it via Odin, the most stock way possible (don't want root or custom recovery), just because that I'm tired that it haven't arrived OTA in my country (PT).
But I have a few questions regarding this manually update to the latest firmware of another country:
1) Manually installing the latest update from BTU UK will stop me from receiving future OTA updates? and if no, will I be receiving the OTA updates in the future from UK or PT??
2) My device with the currently firmware has no bloatware from any network (was bought unlocked), if I upgrade to the latest firmware from BTU UK, will I still have no bloatware? (or bloat will be installed?)
3) Will I have any problem from installing a firmware from other country (being both for the same model: SM-G935F)?
Thank you very much in advance! :good:
I have everything ready to make the manual flash, just want to clear this things out before I do it.
Thanks

Each country or region has it's own CSC which can be easily flashed
by itself without the need to odin flash a different country's full firmware.
The only time you need to think about bloatware is if you flash a specific
carrier's firmware like perhaps vodaphone and most other carriers add
their own bloatwares. But if you only flash the regional firmware for your
country or region like BTU UK you will not end up with bloatware.
Good luck and happy flashing!

Future OTA's will not be a problem if you have flashed
the proper CSC for your country before trying to update
future firmwares.

So you are saying that first I should change my CSC to the UK, then flash the latest firmware via Odin and won't have to worry about future updates? Can't I simply flash the latest UK BTU firmware and it will change the CSC and get me the latest firmware in once?
Does anyone have recent experience flashing carrier firmware to the unlocked (U1) model, especially on BL5? Does it still require combination firmware or can I just flash the latest AT&T firmware from Updato using regular Odin?
It would just be regular firmware from at&t. The same way if you wanna flash back to the unlocked firmware. No combination files are needed.
I ended up flashing a different countries firmware so that means I'll not get my countries updates soooo.... is it just as easy as flashing the csc EVR (EE) and because I'm in the UK if I flash the firmware BTU (uk) will I still get updates?
You should. You might have to reflash the current firmware for your country / phone though.
