Go for the Nexus
1. You most likely won't use 32 Gb. I have 8 Gb free on my 16 Gb Nexus(12 Gb usable), with about 40 apps, and 300 songs, 200 photos
2. Updates and community count a lot. The Nexus experience would be greater and more entertaining
3. Nexus can have LTE, if you really want it.
4. Gaming is about the same on both
5. The Nexus does not overheat. The glass on the back is a good heat conductor, which drives away heat from the center of the phone, keeping the core relatively cool. All those people complaining about overheating issues never had a quad core phone before.

Nope, but it's the only thing on USB otg I have found...

Before I bought the phone, I was worried that 16GB might be too little, but I've had the phone for 7 months now and have always had more than 3GB free

Guys can someone reply if they have tried the USB otg.. Do we need to power it externally..

Late this past spring, we heard about the first microSD card that would hit the 64GB mark, setting new limits for how much data you could store on your smartphone. While the cards were announced months ago, they're just now becoming commercially-available products, and SanDisk is the first to bring one to market.
We had guessed back in May that one of these 64GB cards might fetch somewhere in the $200-300 range, and that's pretty spot-on; SanDisk's 64GB card goes for about $220. Obviously, you're paying a premium for getting all that data crammed into one tiny package. An 8GB microSD card with the same speed rating (class 6) can be had for $11, which comes out to about $1.38 per gigabyte. For this 64GB card, you're paying $3.44 per gigabyte, or two and a half times as much.
Then there's the problem of compatibility to deal with. The new 64GB card is a microSDXC device, not just the SDHC we're familiar with. SDHC tops-out at 32GB, and smartphones will need to be able to communicate with SDXC cards in order to take advantage of their increased storage space. We'll absolutely start seeing SDXC support in future phones, both as the prices of the cards drop, and user storage needs grow. For the moment, at least, you'll have to be content at 32GB.
Source: SanDisk
Via: IntoMobile
Which phone would you purchase? Let's hypothetically say the after one year the price of the card dropped to $129.00 as well. Right now you can buy the card at the ridiculous price of $229.00.
This guy said he is using this card with a galaxy S2 right now and I believe him because I just saw a video with somebody using the sd card on the galaxy s 2.

The purpose of this poll is not to start a flame war so please respect other people's opinions. Just state your opinion and move on. Please don't try to prove that you are right and the other person is wrong. This is just informational unless they are wrong about the facts and in that case post your source and move on. I can't imagine possibly needing 64 GB of data on my phone. And the galaxy nexus will get updated while the epic touch gets left in the dust on outdated software.

Thank you. I will vote later I don't want to influence the poll.
i'd say the Galaxy S II easily, yea yea i really don't care about getting the update first due to the great devs we got on xda(which we'll most likely get them early) and if not we'll definitely have some great roms to hold us off until then
Epic touch does have better specs. Nexus will have better software. Just depends if you always want he latest software or not. Right now the epic touch can get 48 gb of storage. 16 on board and a 32 gb sd card. Galaxy nexus only has 16.

Undecided.
I'm not sold on the Galaxy Nexus like everyone else is. But the finger print magnet / plastic cheap casing of the E4GT doesn't impress me either.
Galaxy Nexus for me. I've yet to own a Nexus buy my gf's nexus S makes me jealous everytime she gets an update.
Which ever phone has the best hardware, being rooted already gives us access to better sotware. Memory wise, in a year with this phone, I still have 8 gig available on my 16 gig micro sd so memory is not really an issue

The choice is simple. Galaxy Nexus. After my experience with the Epic, I'm never getting another skinned Samsung phone ever again. I prefer having the latest software to the latest hardware. When you think about it, not much apps truly take advantage of more advanced hardware, save for a few Tegra exclusives, which can be played on the Epic anyways with chainfire.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yep, hardware is totally secondary to me after having the EPIC. The dev's have been great for this phone, especially as of late, but TouchWiz seems to create so many pointless obstacles for development. Flashing rom's is like a straight up hobby/joy in my android world, I enjoy having as many options as possible.
Neither. I still have 4GB free on my 16 GB so storage isn't and issue especially with mine being mostly backups.

If I had to choose. Epic 4G touch. Better hardware.
Sent from my Samsung Legendary 4G, a Universe UTES Phone, running "two. two"
I'm with zander, if I were giving up the Epic at this point and those were my 2 choices, I'd go with the Touch in a heartbeat, and it wouldn't have anything to do with the SD card size. I still have plenty of room on my 16GB as well.

Good question.
I say nexus over et4g based on pure google and the display. I still have 15gb open on my 32gb card.
Sent from shane6374's Epic via Tapatalk
i guess the nexus, because an 64 card, i would never use all of it. all of my music in amazon, and some on the card, and most of the stuff on the card are back ups. and scan at the begin, when turn on the phone would take forever with an 64G card.
I would go with the Galaxy Nexus. The E4GT's screen is too grainy, at 800x480. Played with it in the store. 1280x720 is way better, pentile or not.
In 6 months when all phones are rocking 1280x720 displays, E4GT will be the red-headed stepchild on the block.
Not to mention no NFC chip on the E4GT. And the software update aspect. And the non-standard drivers (no Wiimote, etc).

With a better display resolution ofc. Is that a good thing or a bad thing for you? Because I think It's awesome to have a tablet like that at this price tag. I'll refresh my Nexus 7 with the new one as soon as I can since it's extremely affordable.

I have a Nexus 4, no Nexus 7. Have an iPad 3 but want something more portable so don't know if I should get the new N7 or wait for an iPad Mini update. Tied into both ecosystems, but if I go all Android, there's a lot of money wasted on iOS apps.
Also, how do you change names? My girlfriend set this up but doesn't use the account anymore - or is it best to just start a new account?
You can either use multi-user functionality or detach current Google account from tablet and set it up with a new one again.
Nexus 7 is also really portable. It fits into my back pocket and I'm going to everywhere with it without any hassle. iPad 3 in the other hand it's a gigantic device compared to Nexus 7 because it's bigger than 10" and also it has a 4:3 display makes it even more harder to carry around with ease.

This thread is discussing the new nexus 7, however many nexus operations are similar, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just make sure to use the proper filenames for your device.

You could try asking an admin, but your best bet would be to just create your own account.
I would say yes but this devicenis more capable. I know LG is known for thermal throttling on their mobile phone line. Those constraints won't apply to this new device. Its able to run hotter longer. So even if not stock, once Roms come out, this device/processor can be pushed alot more than in a phone.
Btw, I disabled thermal throttling. On my LG optimus G pro with Snapdragon 600 and Andreno 320. It runs great. So the S4 can be easily pushed past stock limits with no problem.
Eh, its smooth enough. Really no lag at all, but then again, I never had the 1st Nexus 7, so I don't know if that lagged at all. Overall, I couldn't care less whats inside as long as its smooth and fast for the user (me). The ipad mini has 1/4 the power of this, and it runs just as smooth.

NO there internals are different
Snapdragon s4 pro (1.5GHZ) = uses krait 200 cores
snapdragon 600 (1.7GHZ) = uses krait 300 cores
Nexus 4 SOC - (APQ8064) = four Krait 200 cores + 2GB LPDDR2 RAM +Adreno 320
Nexus 7 SOC - (APQ8064–1AA) = four krait 300 cores which are underclocked + 2GB DDR3L-1600MHz SDRAM + Adreno 320
so basically the New Nexus 7 uses a underclocked Snapdragon 600

I read something like this already, but I'm a bit skeptical about it. Why would Google advertise the lower spec than they actually are?
If this is true, than it's a gamechanger as krait 300 cores are some 30-40% faster than their older (krait200) brothers.

i believe they claim that it's a s4 pro because of it clockspeed alone, most phones out today which use the snapdragon 600 soc have 1.7ghz + clockspeeds

Yea we have an underclocked S4 600. So its faster then the N4. Also the memory bus has been increased.
The N72 is faster then the N4 but probably nothing noticeable right now. Perhaps with KLP, the additional memory bus and newer CPU instructions might distance the N72 further away from the N4, but who knows.

RAM is only for multi taking really. (random access memory) it would help with opening lots of apps in the background like a desktop, with the 1gb of ram, its not going to matter as much as the GPU has 72 cores, this is how i think of it anyways,

Probably NO I don't think it will be octa-core, that is way too exotic at the moment (as far as I am concerned). If there will be a new nexus probably it will have something around the Snapdragon 801 this year.
Either way the processing power should be more than enough on what we have on the N5 the brighter future would be optimizations in the OS and probably better hardware builds (new materials, etc.).

There are already many rumors about the next generation nexus smartphone.
Current rumors of specs are:
64bit-arm octacore cpu
Latest adreno gpu
3-4 gb of ram
2k display
16 mp camera
What do you think about it?
Will you buy it?
When do you think it will get relreased? I saw june - august on some pages, but it's just a rumor.

I`ll only buy the N6 if it has the new Nvidea 192 cored K1 chip, anything less is unacceptable
As said on another similar (also closed) thread, rumors and speculating at this time are pointless. The rumors, leaks and expectatios of most websites seldom come true as history shows most of the times.
Honestly, if the new nexus doesnt have atleast have a 780ti equivalent gpu, it will fail, it better have atleast 12gbs of ram with a 32 inch screen. and if it doesnt make me smoothies, ill pass
I think 3GB of ram and just the latest snapdragon CPU at the time should be fine - no need for 2K screen - Will just destroy the battery

Well, obviously N6 will be a LG phone again. LG Odin SoC has 64-bit octa-core version, so it is quite possible N6 to end up being octa-core 64-bit phone.
If the N6 is going to be the first Nexus with 64 processor and OS, then Google please call it N64, that would be awesome

Wouldn't a phone with solar panels be awesome?

Better question, would a Nexus 6 be a tablet or a phone?

Will it be called Nexus 6 ? The number represent the screen.
Not sure that google will make a 6" phone. Maybe it'll be like the Nexus 7 ? A 2014 version of Nexus 5 ?
Didn't they say there will be no more Nexus devices, only Play Edition?

I would reply to this..but typing is a **** on my Nexus One.
Of course, flagship device at half the cost of other flagship, although all the nexus devices have at least one subpar area to keep the price down. Galaxy nexus was build quality, nexus 4 was it's camera, and nexus 5 was it's battery. I wonder what the nexus 6 can bring to the table.

Lmao i was thinking the same

- 6" screen with QHD resolution
- 3 GB of RAM
- 4000mAh battery
These specs would be nice, I´d love to have a really big phone like a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but without any Knox or similar restrictions
My guess:
Same 5" Screen (1080p)
Snapdragon 801 or whatever the latest is.
Improved graphics chip of some variation.
Improvements in the wireless chipsets.
2GB Ram
Improved Cameras
Slightly larger battery capacity.
Those rumors are ridiculous. It will probably have a snapdragon 805 and be released in October/November just like every other nexus phone.

Are you guys serious? The Nexus 1 did not have a 1 inch screen. The second didn't have a 2 inch screen. The number is the generation of the phone not the screen size. We don't even have a full 5 inches on our Nexus 5s it's 4.95. Got to love using my 1 inch screen sized Nexus 1. Yup the number definitely represents screen size.

i dont think it will called nexus 6
more like nexus 5 (2014), unlikely they will bump up the specs much
These silly arguments start around the same time every year. Two years ago it was the Verizon crazies guaranteeing that Verizon would get the Nexus 4. Last year was the best one. The Kandy Kane Krew. "OMG did you see the Candy Cane in the Android version Easter egg?!?! 4.4 will be Kandy Kane!!"
Now it is the screen size naming convention. C'mon man. Screen size has never named a Nexus phone. Sure, there is a Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. What will Google do by then? Who knows...probably not use a number, just like they have two other times in the past (Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus).

32 gb is a serious letdown

I was planning to buy the follow up nexus tablet for more than a year now, but the specs are such a let down! My biggest gripe is the max 32 gb storage. I'm OK with 16gb being base, I was never going to get 16 gb anyway. But 32 gb as maximum storage is just too little. I don't need an sd-card and sure I can put some stuff in the cloud, but I won't have wifi at all times! Maybe in the USA, but not where I live. (I don't even prefer cloud services for everything)
Even the nexus 6 has 64 gb of storage, and that's a phone which has a sim card and is almost always connected to the internet! Same with RAM. Why would you put less ram in a tablet and more in a smaller phone? Same with screen. Why use lower resolution on the n9 than on the n6? It makes no sense to me. If all can be crammed in a smaller package, then why not in a bigger package with a bigger battery.
Not to mention the 80$ for an increase in 16 gb.
32 gb....
Agreed, 32 GB max is too little. So is 2 GB for ram : what will be left for apps when the video memory will be deduced ?
But my thought on this is that Google wanted HTC to have a place under the sun : I wouldn't be surprised to find out before Xmas or shortly thereafter (Lollipop exclusivity for X months, maybe, just enough to let all other makers develop their own offering) that HTC has tablets ready just to address those weaknesses, and maybe add a micro-sd reader to the mix.
32gb is plenty for me. My current tablet only has 16gb and I don't even use 50% of the storage space.
Yeah the storage or lack thereof is probably the biggest letdown. Its sad to see Apple making Google look foolish in this regard. Can't even really say that cost is the reason with numerous 128GB consumer SSD options for ~$100. I really don't get it. The weird part when you think about it, is that the Nexus Player seems to be the best part of yesterday's announcement.

Totally agree except I thought nexus 6 and 9 both had same resolution?
And I think nexus 6 should have just got 2 GB of ram and made it cheaper.
And I wouldn't even hesitate to get the nexus 9 if the 32 GB was 399. But 480 is way too much for just increased storage. The storage increase probably doesn't cost them more than a few dollars. Now they're acting like Apple who charge 100 more. I used to like that they only charged 50 more

I wish the Nexus 9 had the following pricing options concerning storage: I may not necessarily need the 64GB version, but not providing it as an option stinks.
16 GB - $399
32 GB - $449
64 GB - $499
16GB storage shouldn't even be an option in this day and age. 32GB and above should be the norm. Was hoping Google would lead by example here instead of skimping out
Its not a bad idea to just get the 16gb version, then get a 64gb OTG flash drive for $40.

16 gb is still a viable option because there are so many people out there still using a fraction of the 16 gb provided to them.
More storage options other than 32 should be there, but hey, don't ya think htc/google thought about it?

Let me preface the obvious: this is all IMO. Having said that, I am constantly juggling games and keeping a watch on storage because 16GB just doesn't cut it. Considering that the most popular apps are games, and they've deprecated the usefulness of an external SD storage, they really should up that status quo. The N6 is a good step, the N9 with 16GB seems all the more bizarre in comparison.
If the Nexus 9 had a proper AMOLED screen and more storage it would be amazing but I'm extra glad I got a Tab S now. No point to AOSP if the hardware is lacking. The only reason to lust for N9 is K1 and that just isn't enough.

Will OTG be full supported? This is what I'm thinking.
I've never maxed out my space in my entire life with my smartphones. I couldn't care less.

That would include me. I have no reason to spend more money to buy a 32GB tablet (or phone).

I'm more disappointed by the lack of wireless charging. I have it on my Nexus 7 and a Galaxy S4, and it's spoiled me. Feels like I'd be going backwards by not having it.
My two biggest gripes are wireless charging and the max 32gb. The only thing that makes this remotely palatable is the MicroSD slot but still a 128GB card is going to add $100 to the cost just to get this to the point where it's as functional as an iPad.
A little disappointed given the hype that they were intending to "compete" with the Apple in the high end arena.
The rest of the specs are enough though that I am probably a buyer...

No MicroSD slot. That's why we're all complaining.
What do you guys use memory for? I use the majority for my music, I travel with my entire library which is 40GB, but I'm planning to keep the hard copy on my S4 and just use the cloud for N9. Still probably going to get the 32GB N9 to fit more movies and tv shows.
