Well I just replaced my arias digitizer, all works well besides making and receiving calls. My screen will turn black and be unresponsive, I can be heard by the other person but on my end my phone is unresponsive. I would have to take out the battery to get it to respond, which is ridiculous. This has been an issue for many people and I want to get to the bottom of it. All help is welcomed, thank you.
There is a tiny rubber cover for the proximity sensor that needs to be there for it to work properly. It is easy to lose when you replace the screen.

Currently I am messing with it and I've tried many things. Could you possibly describe it, much appreciated.

It is a little rubber thing, square on one side and round on the other, with a hole through it. It fits over the proximity sensor to focus it through the round window on the glass.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Well apparently I must have put my earpiece in wrong too and I can't hear anything during a call. Many thanks if you can tell me how it goes in.

I resolved the speaker issue. now its just the damn sensor, i cant wake from calls :/. To be exact, what does the proximity sensor look like and which tiny window does it "see" through?
Right next to the speaker are two little sensors. The closest to the speaker is the proximity sensor and the other one is the light sensor. Above these on the glass are two round windows.

If you search around on here, someone posted a hack for disabling the proximity sensor. This will enable you to make calls, but you will obviously lose the sensor function.

I have seen that thread about disabling it, I'm trying to keep that as very last resort. Well does the sensor look like a tiny little chip?

Yes, it has a little circular 'eye' on it.

Thank you. I'll continue to mess with it. Btw, what do you know about the gingerbread development? Anything about the aria?

The Cyanogen people are working on it as we speak.

Hi.
I've got a weird thing with my phone (i9505). when i tap the screen at the top, or even next to the speaker, it sound like something is loose. Screen works just fine, touch also.
Does anyone else have this?
Could be manufacturing defect.
Should i return it and ask for a replacement?

I'm not sure if it's what you describe but I noticed that when tapped a bit "harder" or put to the table with a little force, there is a slight vibration which feels like something is mounted on "rubber"...not sure how to describe...it's more like a part has a buffer which prevents it from being damaged. It really might be the camera lens or some other part swinging and I don't think something is broken.
My S3 also hadn't that kind of feedback when tapped. However it doesn't make any noise so I'm not sure if it's what you mean...but also it might be that same part just being broken in your phone if it's rattling.
Probably just the vibration motor. If you hold the back to your ear and tap the front, it sounds hollow (or like a drum).

Try tapping the same area on a display s4 and see if you hear the same thing. A real display too not a dumby phone.
My htc Dna did this and it was the lens. Verizon brought out a brand new dna and it did the same thing.... Lol good luck

Virtually every device forum on here as the same thread.
Its part of the camera lens that moves internally is the answer on every thread.
Noticed the lens rattle too. Sounds unnormal, but I went to the Shop and the Galaxy S4 there had the same "issue" while tapping on the upper Display Area.

I just went to the ATT store for the same reason. There is a plastic cover over the camera lens. Peel it off, the noise goes away..
There is no issues never has been, never will be. Its the autofocus in the camera.
That's why I set issue in quotes It's a constant sound while using the S4 and tapping the top of phone. On my S4 sadly loud, but according to the store no reason for a warranty exchange.

Hey, i've noticed that the earpiece on my s4 scratches way easier than on my s3. It's due to the fact that it is slightly more raised off the front glass than on the s3. Is anyone else noticing small scratches on the earpiece?

Same here,
The chrome like ring around the earpiece easily scratches off

Tried to scratch mine with no help, still intact :good:
Don't try. It should scratch easily with reuglar use..lol im also seeing it scratched in alot of review videos if you look closely...in my opinion the earpiece on both the s3 and s2 were less sratchable...

I already tried, even with scissors :silly:
NO scratches whatsoever, maybe I was luck and got good set of earpiece :good:

Yep I got a scratch already on the metal cover for the ear piece. I also notice that the second and third little hole (from left to right) seems to be clogged or a metal part just underneath - oh an the last one too. I even attempted to unclogged one of those holes with a very sharp pin and that's when I notice they are not clogged. Those holes look just look clogged but it's just components under the grill.
I got massive scratches on the first 3-4 days of use on the camera metal ring. It should be made from the same material on the sides.
Same here also got scratches on the camera grill!

Not sure if its my N4 or all N4s, but when I tap the rear of the device, towards the camera, there is a loose sound coming from it, like something is loose inside....
Its not a major problem, everything works fine, I am just a little concerned something is loose inside the device.
I called Google support and they just said it was the Sim card tray, which I pointed out to the advisor that I thought she was incorrect as the sim card tray is on the opposite side to the camera, and its only when I tap around the camera.
The noise comes from when I tap the rear of the phone, starting roughly from the word 'nexus' and continues to sound loose when I tap anywhere on the rear, above the word nexus (toward the top of the phone).
The advisor simply said contact LG if you think there is a problem but Google is telling you its normal....
Is it normal???

Mine rattles and its definitely the sim card try, it goes when you push the ejector down and shake it. There is a fix by stuffing something down the side of the slot.
Its on the opposite side to the tray, and its only at the top of the phone, I don't get how its the tray...

I can't find any similar threads, has anyone created a tutorial or anything on how to fix the problem?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes its usually the camera autofocus ...the only nexus 4 I had was this one that it rattles when I shake it and when taking pics autofocus makes noise like its stripping gears. Its a known issue but it may be your tray anyway try taking pic use flash and touch screen to focus by touching and see if it rattles

Hi All,
Is there a grill or anything (that obviously prevents dust or water from coming in) in the microphone's hole?
I cleaned the microphone hole and seems to push too hard, now I see nothing there, but I assume there was...
Please take a look...
Of course, there was sth right there.
