do you think it is because when i factory reset to prepare for a new rom, it deletes my final fantasy data?

Did you have backup App Cache and backup External Data enabled with TiBu?

A week ago, I was flashing through different roms, and I decided to do a data reset through the stock recovery. What a mistake I had made. I lost ALL data on my internal SDCard. *facepalm* (thankfully, I had most of it backed up elsewhere, so it was really just a massive inconvenience).
Do you have an external SDcard inserted? I'm curious: It's possible that you were storing backups on your external for some time, and then somehow switch to internal storage for backups... and then the internal got wiped (reverting back to external)?
Just a shot in the dark.

How to read Nandroid backups?

Hey all,
I recently backed up my G1 using Nandroid and wiped my phone clear. I don't want to restore to my backup, but I was curious how to open the files it creates on the SD card.
Basically, what I want to do is nab some data that Shazam saved (some song IDs) but I don't want to restore to the image. Any ideas?
Nevermind Just created a new backup of the fresh install and swapped over to the old one, got the info I needed and flashed back.

Titanium Backup Warning

Now I realise I am likely to be subjected to a torrent of mockery for this, but feel I should post it in the spirit of a public service announcement.
I needed to do a factory reset of my Galaxy S today (Froyo JPO via Odin - nice), and as a clever and forward thinking IT literate person thought it would be a good idea to back up my apps (if only to save my Angry Birds progress).
So I downloaded Titanium Backup from the Market, and used it to backup all my apps & and services with "useful data".
I then proceeded to do a factory reset using the handy code *2767*3855# (due to the minor snag of forgetting my Mobile Tracker password, and being unable to use the reset option in Settings)
arning 1 - This performs a reset as soon as you hit # - no "are you sure" or similar. Use with caution.
Once that had completed, all was good (messaging app was working again which was the reason for the reset), and I proceeded to reinstall Titanium Backup from the Market, and went to restore all my apps.
FAIL
Warning 2 - Titanium Backup saves it's backups on the internal SD card on a Galaxy S. This gets wiped by a Factory Reset, therefore saying Syonara to all your carefully backed up data. Whoops.
Now I will readily admit this is my own daft fault for not checking the backup location, and copying the data to my external SD card, but then "Experience is simply the name we give to our mistakes"
Here's hoping this prevents at least one other person making the same foolish mistake.
James.
Hangon, I'm 99% sure the internal doesn't get formatted using factory reset.. Well at least on my device (Aussy GT-I9000)
internal sd

Today I did a Factory reset thiking I will los the data but the data is there. This confirm the 1% to complete de 100%.
Carlos
Data should still be there fella in 'sd' just move it into 'external_sd' same happened to me.
You should have really read the documentation before using the app
That being said, I have my backups stored on Dropbox so at least if anything happens I can restore it from the cloud.
Trust me guys - the TitaniumBackup folder on the internal SD was empty after the factory reset & reinstall.
That said - it's possible it was the reinstall that blanked it, although that would be even more daft.
Having not checked it during the process, I can't comment for sure when it went bye-bye.
It never happened to me. What about other files on your Internal SD? Did they get wiped out too or just the contents TitaniumBackup folder?
No idea, anyone experienced d1verjim's case? All I can think of is bug of TB that makes it "Delete all Backups".

"Experience is simply the name we give to our mistakes", but I think it's not your mistake this time, so hold on the 'experience' first! Gotta find the cause for that. TB is well-known for its stability.

[Q] Nandroid backup

I hope you are right, otherwise im coming after you
It does NOT backup /data/media. Which is everything you see mapped to /sdcard.
Kind of crazy IMO. I once did a full factory reset and lost all my /data/media because I thought I had a backup.

ti backup
Titanium backup is what I would sugest
A nandroid backup will only backup the things you check off in the backup screen. By default nandroid will backup all the necessary files to boot back into a rom. The best way to backup applications is to use titanium backup, which will backup not only the application, but also the data from yhe application.

I've been searching here and other sites using Google and I'm still not sure about /data/media. Could it be considered non-critical?
I just got my tablet yesterday, haven't had time to customize much. If I had to revert to a nandroid backup without /data/media, would it just be a matter of re-entering the system settings I want and pulling my apps back down from Market?

Moot point now. I went ahead and installed Epiphany. Don't plan on going back.

Application data corrupt after backup/restore

Hi,
Just changed rom from pcfighter 2.3.7 CM7 V2 (kernel 2.6.32) to mike's AOSP 2.3.7 v5.0
I backed up everything before with MyBackup root (data and apps data+apk),
wiped cache and data in recovery and installed the new rom. Then I restored everything in MyBackup.
Things seemed to be fine after reboot, except many apps started to force close on start. Wiping those apps' data seemed to bring them back to life one by one, so it looks like their data got somehow corrupted during the process.
Not a big problem, since I didn't have any really valuable data in the misbehaving apps, but I'd like to avoid similar hassle in the future.
Has anybody encountered this before or have any idea what I might have done wrong here?

Yeah, I think I will try with titanium next time I have to do this. Or maybe I will backup with both and compare the results...
I didnt have that problem, but once when I updated my phone through fastboot i backed up my apps and personnal data using my backup root, and my personnal data got corrupted so I couldnt restore it, thankfully all I had that mattered was my contacts and they were synced with my google account so it was no problem really, was just kinda annoyed.
Nearly all of the apps that I backed up which was on the SD card (using App2SD method), didn't even backup when it said it did. Lots of corruption going on.

Was this also on MyBackup root? Now that I think of it, all my apps with corrupted data were also installed on SD card on previous rom.

[Q] Lost Data !!

Guys This is a noob question but please help me with this
After Rooting my phone i backed up my apps with Titanium Backup with Apps + Data
then later i was planning to install a new ROM so i even backed up my ROM using Philz Touch Recovery with Data+System+Cache+Boot.
After trying several ROMS one of it asked for clearing the Internal Storage (Media Storage) and i lost all my photos and stuff.
Currently after returning to my Stock ROM and flashing Titanium Backup apps back i cant find My Audio Manager (Hiding App) data.
On Trying to remember i think that the app location was set to sd card.
I want to recover my Audio Manager Apps Data because it was really Important
I currently have a full backup of my stock ROM which totals abut 8.56 Gb is there any way to just get the data back.
It was reallly IMPORANT Please Help.
Titanium backup folder is set to the internal storage by default. Unless you changed that.
When restoring a backup there it should ask you what you want to restore. Data, system, boot, efs, etc.
Just select data. But this will restore all backed up data from your backup.
I know the stock samsung rom is about 3.5 GB, the rest is data. So you will have 5 GB of data that might need restoring.
